As much as I totally admire and respect climbers, I always feel that the people who are up there with them filming it deserve an equal amount of credit.
Yeah it's really interesting, she's doing this stuff and there's some person holding a camera swingin' on a rope next to her like not even in the film. :sweat:
Watch red bulls "dawn wall behind the scenes" to see how they get into position to film. It's a lot easier for them to climb into position but the amount of time they spend there is what makes it so difficult for them. Mad respect for those in front and behind the camera
Most of those people up there with them are also top climbers
I always felt that way about Steve Irwin’s camera guy…

Both rock & ice climbing have their own special place. They are very awesome. As a bigger guy I can ice climb a lot better than I can rock climb.

@@Theninjaonthemountains - I felt like with rock climbing I couldnt progress past 5.10b . Im also 210 lbs and it just didn't work very well. Ice is much different. You'll love it
During a Mt. Washington winter climb in 2019 we got hit with minus 40 Celsius Temps and 80 mph winds above the tree line. Some crazy conditions on that mountain.

Scottish winter could give Mt. Washington a run for its money
Full conditions in Scotland, no doubt. Terrain is remarkably similar to NH too. What is different in New England is the cold temps, way colder than Scotland.

Ski mountaineering is an entire division of climbing that involves skiing or snowboarding down the mountain you just climbed. The route up may or may not involve ice climbing.
My question is how they climb down and did they pickup they climbing equipment afterwards? Can someone suggest any video explaining my question?
The leader places the protection, in this case ice screws, the second removes it when they follow.

Amazing! More people should get into the habit of ice climbing. Me and my wife have been at it for more than thirty years, and we've even climbed Everest twice without resting. Good physique and exceptional form lets you really nail those jumps all the way to the top. Especially after a good meal of vegetables and Topi meat (it's a specialty food my wife makes). I recommend you adopt my diet in order for you and fellow climber enthusiasts to have enough energy for climbing for multiple trips in a row. Trust me- Topi meat is packed with loads of protein. Best of luck to you both.

That's considered aid climbing, if you clip your tool and rest on it. It's certainly something you might do if you're in trouble and don't think you can get a screw in. But in climbing, the idea is to get to the top of the route without resting on gear.
