Talk about passion, endurance, skill, technique and love of doing something this has to be one of those things. Awesome footage, one has to be brave and strong to do this type of climbing in particular.
When I see good videos like this I usually take out my time to appreciate the experts that make these videos possible.
Super duper awesomeness! All three locations offered something different. The last one, snow cave entrance was spectacular. I could only imagine falling into that cold cold water.
My mate fell into a glacier stream...they found his body days later...RIP Charlie.

I was a rock and ice climber for many years in the WA State Cascades. Now at 80 years I realize how crazy that was. I think that the man that was called the "Swiss Machine" would have agreed with me.

My father was a mountaineer and did a lot of climbing in the Cascades as well. He is in his 70s now and I suspect he really misses it. He used to teach some courses for the Tacoma Mountaineers.
Yeah the glaciers in WA (Western Australia) are absolutely incredible - so beautiful its impossible to believe they exist.

Amazing!!! I wish I had the physical ability to do anything remotely like that anymore. Shattered my femur, tore my PCL and my knee is trashed, all left side. But I’m alive.
Watching them climb up that vertical cliff was a nail-biter for me! Yah there were cables but a fall is no joke!

Wow--amazing. Impressed by the guts of these guys. I'd think that, using those ice picks constantly, it would be very easy for your hands to start cramping up--and also very easy to lose the handle on the pick and watch it tumble into the void. And then what? Are the picks tethered to the climber's jacket or belt?
That's what I always wonder. I imagine it's a preference, like some people attach them to their wrists, and others (like the guy in this video) don't bother attaching them, because they are confident that they won't drop their pick
That is a very, very strong lead climber. But not sure about the safety margin when leading the mixed line. Looked a bit sketchy to me...But a wonderful video!

Hilarious performance. From a methodological point of view, I would be quite interested to know how you removed all the ice screws at the last ascend?
i had the same thought! perhaps the second climbers cleans on their way up?

Abalakov only makes sense to me if the follower would have picked it all up, which would have been quite challenging given the overhanging nature of the route. At the same time, I don't know how much I'd want to belay from only 2 ice screws at the end when the follower would be falling into it as well.
Another option would be that there would be a lot of abalaks, and that again doesn't seem to me very environmentally ok.
Probably just reverse aided it, looked like they put the screws in ground-up aiding the route so just have to do the reverse

4:04: No prusik on the rope. One slip of the hand (easy to happen with gloves) and he’s dead. Such an unnecessary risk.

@@artyparty_av It’s just unnecessary, easy to avoid risk. It’s a bit like bringing your helmet and then not wearing it.
I would never have a prussik on the rope when rappelling next to flowing water. There have been reported cases of people drowning under waterfalls because their prusik/friction hitch locked up on the rope and they got sucked into the waterfall.
