    Hey Justin, congratulations on winning the championships! Honestly, when you said you had some updates, the hair on my neck stood up in excitement as I thought you were going to get sponsored by one of the Big Two hockey companies! Damnit! Anyways, can't wait to see the update on the gear - especially the pants. I've been needing pants and skates but was waiting it out for the summer new gear to be released. I'm really excited to see what the new Bauer ASV and Mach skates are going to be like!

    I'm upgrading most of my stuff from a mix of AS-1 and AS to AS-V. Loving the new pants, they're a big improvement, the gloves, feel great but the palm is a little more slippery than the AS-1 (and the nesttech makes no difference when wearing them, but might help with drying them with a hair blower?). Getting the new shins tonight. I have big legs, the AS shins were good, but getting tired. Also looking to see how well the shoulders mate up to the pants.

    I'd like to see a comparison of the fit on the as v pants vs the ft4s. I felt like my ft390 pants were more protective than my tacks 7092s because the padding was thicker in some areas and stayed in place better with the tighter pants. I hate to say it, but looks are an important consideration too.

    Between the AS-V and Mach skates I'd say get the AS-Vs. The Machs don't look like much of an upgrade over the Ultrasonics, but the AS-Vs look like a significant one over the AS3s.

    Hey man, just bought the asv pro pants but was debating the hyperlites based on more room in the crotch region. That’s my only gripe with the ASV pro pants so far. Do you have a full review/opinion on them?

      @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews  Год назад

      I only did the snap shots with the Asv I spoke more about the hyperlite in the hyperlite protective video. My gripe with the hyperlite pants can be seen in that video. I am still wearing the hyperlite now as I wait for the new releases in June but personally should have kept the Asv. The hyperlites design is just odd over time loses shape and the interior strapping is uncomfortable.

    Really curious about the pants. Are they an anatomical or traditional fit? Seeing conflicting info online. Just got my kid the youth version and I'm liking the D3O for the tailbone as opposed to the teeny circle of Poron XRD on my 2s Pro pants that didn't feel like it did anything resulting in a tailbone injury.
    Looking forward to the review on those and the elbow pads. Did you pick up the shoulder pads?

      Elbows are so challenging, finding ones that work is so hard. To long, to bulky, doesn’t strap properly. The ft4 pro was the best one for me in awhile so gonna be hard to chAnge from that with the as-5. We shall see! And thx Ruddsy always appreciate the support

    dayumm the ASV protective looks pretty nice. i’m still using my old rbk 20k shin pads and ccm rbz elbows 😂😂. i switched from pants to the jetspeed girdle though and i love them since they’re so flexible.
    quick question though, have you ever had true skates/ what’re your thoughts on them? i’m thinking about upgrading from my hyperlites to either the machs or trues but i’m leaning toward the true skates because my feet are very wide and it takes me a while to be fully comfortable in a retail level skate. i love my hyperlites but breaking them in sucked and i don’t want to go through that again with the machs.
    keep up the great work, love the content!!

    • @mynameisolev
      @mynameisolev 2 года назад +1

      Hey!
      I had the custom true skates made for myself. To be honest the true skates are amazing when you fear them, but I wouldn’t reccommend going for the custom ones, if you can go for one level lower the tf9s? They feel just as great for a more affordable price.
      The most annoying part of the true customs is the edge of the skate near the ankles where your leg breaks, it doesn’t have a great padding there so the skate kind of cuts into the leg when you are making tight turns and that really pisses me off having 1100 sth skates and they cant make such basic thing right. And another thing the true’s are so snug around the leg it kind of limits your leg movement wherear ultrasonics that I tested (friends skates) they were a lot looser around the ankles which makes it so much more comfortable to turn and do tight movements. For straight line speed trues are great tho.

    • @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
      @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews  2 года назад +1

      I mean it’s sexy looking gear for sure. But in comparison I can imagine a huge change switching from what you are wearing! Sometimes it’s to bulky after years of that! I have nit had true skates so best to listen to the other comment,I’ve always been a Bauer skate guy this will be possible the first year I get different skates in the as-5 maybe. After the first skate with the protective I’m skeptical now a bit and I’m hoping they aren’t to bulky. I’m doing the machs first in about two weeks as the hockey shop says they are arriving early. I also have the hyperlite And looking forward to changing it up. My thoughts on the trues were always they looked a bit bulky as most skaters in beer league wearing them always seemed tp struggle with speed etc. could be a bad read but I’ve never seen a amazing beer league player and noticed they were in true skates. But the new catalyst looks like true is moving towards more of a steam lined skate that competes with the other two

    Always save the tags! 😄
    I tend to prefer mobility for shoulders, elbows, and shins, but I'm finding it better not to skimp on protection for pants and gloves.
    I don't suppose you could do a breakdown of different curves like you did with flexes?
    Everybody seems to suggest P88 for beginners, but as one with terrible mechanics, it's definitely an ego boost seeing my terrible shots soar over the glass with little effort from a P28 vs those shots that barely lift from a P88.

    • @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
      @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews  2 года назад +1

      Haha I know right. This gear even if I don’t like it will be a give away or sell depending. I’ve thought about curves as well. I’ll see if I can add something to the conversation I like to tackle topics I feel like I have a slightly helpful or different view on.

    • @louiefriesen
      @louiefriesen 2 года назад +2

      I recommend P88 for beginners because it teaches proper shot form. You'll also learn how to put more power into your shot as well.
      I don't recommend P28 for beginners because it is really open, which makes it super easy to lift the puck, like you said, but that can cause bad habits, and lack of shot power.
      You want to be able to shoot the puck well with any curve. When you learn with P88, you learn how to shoot low, and shoot high, and have a powerful shot, which then you can transfer to P92 and then eventually P28 for some.
      If you absolutely hate P88, than the next best curve for beginners is P92. It's not as open as P28 but more open than P88.

    • @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews
      @beerleaguebumhockeyreviews  2 года назад +2

      @@louiefriesen agree with our man Louie. What sucks is retail only has 3 curves now! And testing new ones gets expensive in custom sticks, pro sticks etc

Was planning on getting a second pair of FT4 Pro pants in black as the upgrade from FT390 to FT4 Pro in navy was a great experience (especially because of the additional leg length but also weight wise).
