She’s Suzelle Poole and was born in 1940. That makes her 83 years old, NOT 100 years old. • Someone else said this was when she was 77 years old. • Having said that. Even at 77 years old an amazing ballerina!❤
Thank you for clarifying it to us. I gave "The Hustle" a thumbs down because they lied about her age. Calling a 77 year old, a 100, is very disrespectful. Any woman in the world would hate that. Her performance, her elegancy, and her Art was just wonderful.

@Alicia en el Pais de las Maravillas I think they meant her being the age she is makes the dance more impressive, not that her being younger than the clickbait is more impressive. I’m not trying to me rude, I’m just pointing it out
The fact that she stretched and worked out all of her life is what has saved her. It has kept her limber, and the strength training kept her bones strong. Exercise makes the difference all the way around.
She's 80, and she's still dancing. She's an amazing woman, but I think the clickbait title detracts from the accomplishment and spreads misinformation. Not cool, hustle.
Madame Suzelle Poole is actually 79 years old performing this piece and 83 years old today November 2023!!! Still an amazing accomplishment with no need to make up that she’s 100 years old when she is not!

@@larrystowing7385 I have, actually. There's a nonprofit called Dance For All Bodies that teaches classes online every week that are tailored to accommodate people with disabilities. There's a modern class designed for deaf/hearing impaired dancers, which is cool. My problem is my joints, though, so I'm a fan of their Seated Salsa class. I'm eagerly anticipating the day they add seated ballet. Ballet was my first love, but the pointe shoes did not love my EDSer ankles back 😂 I will be all over seated ballet at any opportunity. I had to quit dancing when it was doing more harm to my hips than it was doing good for my happiness and mental health. I got to a point where I dislocated a hip in every rehearsal and every performance. I even tried out for my high school team my sophomore year with both hips subluxated. Still made the team and with the 3rd highest audition score, but really damaged my hips in the process. We dance because we love to dance, but dancing doesn't always reciprocate.
@@trans_asexual exactly my grandma was a disco dancer/model in the 70’s-80’s and was a nurse at the same time I mean she can’t walk but she is absolutely beautiful she is 79 and no gray hair, long hair, barely any wrinkles, still wears makeup, she is just living her life
Normally that would sound beautiful. And the analogy is beautiful, just like she is and her dancing. But I've been watching a horror movie and feathers were involved in it so feathers are no longer the same lol.
@Rin Kashiari those japanese horror films can make even crusty plates seem scary. My husband is asian and likes thriller movies, I've been playing asian horror movies recently. Even feathers are no longer safe 😥

Exactly, I hate when people say that ballet isn’t that hard but they don’t know all the work that went into all of it they see one thing and say it’s easy because the dancer does it so gracefully. I did ballet for seven years and would have gone on point had I done an other year (sadly my teacher moved away) and it was not easy and I wasn’t even wearing shoes that had a wood piece at the end that I had to stand on

The desire to dance never leaves even when we can no longer raise a leg or move without pain. It lives in our hearts and memories. I loved this and it was so beautiful tears were streaming down my cheeks.
Does anyone remember the elderly ballerina who suffers from Alzheimers? She is wheelchair bound, but still, if she hears the Swan Lake music, she tries to perform the moves. That video has me bawling every time I see it!
I'm still teaching in my 70's and I know how hard it is especially after the break for a pandemic! Lost a lot of muscle strength. Remotivates me to carry on strengthening my body. @@jefframakishe’s not the one lying about her age. Trust me, no woman wants to pretend to be 20 years older than they actually are. It is whoever posted the video lying for click bait.
For those who don't know much about ballet: she is dancing a classical variation called "The dying swan". All of her movements represent a swan fighting for it's life and trying to fly one last time, until it runs out of breath. It's even more symbolic, considering this is her last dance. The swan's moves are soft, melancholic and beautiful, and in my eyes- it fully represents this ballerina's journey and the ending of it. Beautiful❤ I just want to share it credit to the owner
😂lol no, it's way less than 10% of people who can go on pointe- most people could with proper training, yes, but I'd imagine less than 1% of the global population can actively wear pointe shoes. It takes a lot more strength and endurance than you would think- this is coming from a Pointe dancer. But your comment is still so valid- her talent at that age is incredible.
She's extremely fit for her age - even for the 80 that was her real age. And extremely lucky, to even be able to continue practicing enough for that performance, at that level. I know some rather fit 80 years old, but challenges with joints are very common at that age, and ballet doesn't exactly make them more rare.
I think the lie about her age is what gets random people like me to click in. “What?!?!” I thought when I saw it. “100 yrs old and still dancing?! THIS I’ve got to see.” The thing about lies, though, is I won’t subscribe to the channel because of it. But it did pull me in to see this video.
Oh how beautiful she is! Believe me, you cannot perform this way at ANY age, let alone 100 years old, without constant daily practice. She let no grass grow under her ballerina slippers!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🕊✝️🙋♀️🙏😘
The fact that she's dancing the dying swan for her last performance makes it that more sad but beautiful to watch Edit: YOU ALL GOTTA STOP COMMENTING "its not the dying swan its the swan". IF YALL READ MY OTHER COMMENTS OR DID A SIMPLE SEARCH YOU WOULD SEE THE DANCE VARIATION IS CALLED THE DYING SWAN WHILE THE MUSIC IS THE SWAN. Thank youuu💕
I worked in aged care for a long time and we had a 104 year old lady with severe dementia, but when you sat her in front of a piano ... It was amazing. Her brain never forgot the songs. She couldn't even read music anymore, or register where she was, but sit her in front of the piano and start singing, and she would play. Perfectly, like the grand pianist she was. It was truly amazing. This performance made me cry, how amazing she was able to continue to give this beautiful final gift to the world ❣️❣️❣️
There are some talents that never easily fade with time just like what you've stated, it's truly a magnificent gift from God that's worth sharing for everyone to hear, witness and admire.
Ive read somewhere that says music isnt easily forgotten even with dementia. I saw a video of an elderly with dementia but still can play Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. It's amazing how music can be so engraved to one's brain.
I think that it has to do with muscle memory, I remember hearing about a doctor working with a dementia patient and lightly stabbing her hand when he shakes her hand. The next appointment, she didn't want to shake his hand but she didn't remember why or if they had ever met

Her name is Suzelle Poole, she is from London and she is a poet and dancer, she is honestly kinda strict but I still love her. She actually is in Dallas now and goes to my studio at 7:30 am because of COVID and she dances with classes and teaches sometimes as well. She is very serious but very sweet and dedicated
She must be a great teacher because her performance was flawless!! Amazing for a woman of any age. Wow! I cannot do much with my legs and I’m a few decades younger but what an inspiration.

She is a former soloist with Houston Ballet and is known for continuing to perform ballet in her seventies. This is indeed extraordinary. The ability to dance "en pointe" means the entire body weight is being supported by the toes requiring perfect alignment. It's difficult for the most professional dancers to maintain this position but even more amazing at this age. Pointe defines grace, beauty, elegance while appearing to be almost weightless & defying gravity. Swan Lake is the timeless story of love, betrayal & tragedy. Often times the part of Odette & Odil are played by the same ballerina to highlight both their similarities & differences. There have also been alternate endings for the ballet.
Madame Suzelle was actually born in 1940. Its remarkable to see such grace, beauty & strength at 80 yrs old (this performance was 4 yrs ago). To maintain her stamina she's went through a routine everyday and if not physically ai least in her mind. To be 'en pointe' that long is incredible.
The fact that this incredible woman has the ability to dance at 100 year old is just amazing. Considering many people at this age are quite frail this just shows you can do anything. ❤
@@dxckie3665 It worked because you watched. But yeah, whoever captioned this video is a liar or incapable of a basic google search to establish the facts.

Agreed. But it’s a shame they lied about her age for clickbait because I feel like it takes away from this amazing and beautiful lady. Such an inspiring woman ❤️
her costume, so elegant. her leg movements, so graceful. her arm movements, LITERALLY SO GRACEFUL. she makes this look so easy when in reality it’s so hard to even balance in pointe shoes. and her flexibility, i could never-
I mean she's been doing it probably for at most 80-90 years of her life so of course she'd be so adapted to her form and routine I take back the 80-90 years as someone mentioned she's actually 78. But still. She s been doing it for a very long time
She's 80. Legit, I googled her just now as I watched this. She is 80 years old. You didn't need to age her an extra 20 years for views. And 80 year old ballerina performing en pointe IS impressive on its own.
Okay but the fact that she’s doing bourrées (the tiny steps) during almost all of the dance is incredible. These are so EXHAUSTING on pointe and she’s doing it almost continuously for 3 minutes, just wow
How was she ever on pointe that long! Hundreds Of bourrees. I would have lost my balance after about 20 and I’m half her age! What a remarkable ballerina!
She was trained shortly before Balanchine's tenure as National Director for ballet, so she was trained for strength and endurance as well as for elegance of grace and as you can see there is an incredible difference because of it since the majority of ballet dancers today are done at age 20-22 if they aren't the Principle Ballerina for a company by then and their careers are generally over by the time they are in their mid 20s. Thankfully Ballet Companies and their schools are starting to teach the importance of muscle maintenance and overall body integrity (condition) to dancers now.
@@CrustyLeeMillerProductions I don’t understand these kinds of comments honestly. She said she was around half the dancer’s age. Why does it matter exactly how old she is? I’m so confused.
so amazing how she always took care of her body, the secret is to stay flexible, dancing is a great way to keep not just your soul, but also your body healthy and happy. Wonderful !
This would be great if it was true. Unfortunately ballet wears out your body way earlier than regular lifestyle and does a lot of harm. There’s a reason ballet dancers can officially retire after 35. This makes the performance even more impressive!
Yes, 80 or 100 , look at her body! No flapping arms, tight, well-developed muscles on her legs - incredible!!! I could only hope to be as great as she is when I'm her age!
Light House No disrespect but you need to spend more time with older people. Many older people can pass for 20 yrs younger than they are. It's really about keeping yourself in shape, continuing to do what you've always done, & keeping your mind active with continued & new goals. Actually 60 or 70 really isnt old, even though when we're young we tend to think it is. You'll get this when you reach that age, when all of us were young we thought it was old, despite what older people told us. Truthfully even people who are young can get to where they can barely walk. This dancer obviously continued doing what she loved. Good for her for keeping it up & good for her for making sure she's having a good life by not deciding she's too old now.
@@caryulmer5578 Can confirm. My childhood ballet teacher is 80 years old now, and she only just retired from teaching ballet last year. She is still in amazing shape, because she always practiced ballet her entire life. I, however, am in my 40's obese, with osteoarthritis, thyroid problems, borderline diabetes, and high cholesterol (ALL problems that I brought upon myself, by having poor nutrition and a sedentary lifestyle for most of my adult life.) I can hardly hobble around, now. I'm much too young to be feeling this damned old. I don't expect to do ballet (I weigh too much and my joints are too shot for that) but I CAN improve my health, energy and mobility IF I get serious about eating a nutrient rich diet, portion control, cutting way down on junk food, and excersizing daily. Gentle yoga, swimming, biking, rowing... low impact stuff. Do yourself a favor while you're still young: Be a nutri-tarian. Eat a good, nutritient rich diet. Lots of omega 3, folate, vitamins A,B6, B12,C,D3,E. Antioxidants. Lots of water. And keep moving. Get good sleep and keep your stress down as much as possible. If you have someone in your life bringing you stress and strife, putting you down,, pushing you around... get away from them. That kind of stress takes it's toll before you realize it! Don't let it. Words to the wise. Care for yourself. Get massages. Life flies by. Don't just take care of yourself "someday" or "tomorrow" or whenever you get around to it. Take good care of yourself today and every day. ❤
At 100 years yes, but in 78 (her real age) most people still walk, but not dance so well. And when they try to dance the way they can, young people laugh at them because we live in an ageist age.
It’s literally her “swan song” 😢 Edit: this is a number in Swan Lake called the “Dying Swan” which is the final act and she chose this as the final act of her career. That’s the swan song I was talking about.
Okay, this is not only incredible for her age, but for the implications of her experience. Ballet dancers can't typically go en pointe for too long and may go demi after relatively short periods of time en pointe. (I say relatively when compared to a ballerina's total years of dancing.) This woman has no doubt gone through some serious injuries from ballet and yet persevered through that to give this performance. Pretty heckin cool! Edit: For the love of God, I KNOW SHE ISN'T ACTUALLY 100. Her visible age is enough to warrant the beginning of my comment. 80 is incredible. This is incredible. That's my point. Why does everyone have to make an argument out of everything?
So full of grace and talent! She obviously really loved her dance moves and shared them with the audience who really appreciated them. She may be 100 but she dances with poise and heart! Love this
The dying Swan 🦢 As a former dancer who has been taught by her I’m in tears! All I can say is this woman is amazing! Such a honor to have had her as a inspiration ❤
I went to church with this beautiful woman for several years when I was around 4-6, and I remember her so well. She danced for us multiple times and as a young baller dancer I was entirely mesmerised. Lovely, lovely woman Madame Poole is. It’s been awhile since I saw her last but I’ll never forget her
This are tough two years to be alive going on three years, I have met a woman who was in marathons and ran and won, she was 70. I also met Grandpa Al Lewis, he told me his secret when I was 30 and wanted to give up acting for being " too old". He had to lie about his age to get the role of Grandpa, he ADDED ten years, and was the Grandfather in the TV Show!
There are those we meet along the journey who just make that incredible impression on us. I had 2 people like this working in Rehab. The woman was in her late 70's and before she left, she walked with her heels and purse around the Unit. She was a small thin woman, but exuded such life. Wherever she went, she'll make friends for sure. The other. a man in his 90's who used to be a chocolatier. He looked young, (chocolate?) 😄, but he did so well physically, Stood at the top of the steps and said. " I stand before you, because I have no place to sit" He died at 99.
I’m moved to tears just watching how beautifully she tells the story of the swan dying……and her beautiful legs and figure are amazing! Such talent! So hard to believe this lady is 100 years old, when me in my 70’s have feet and joints riddled with arthritis! To think she was old enough to be my mother, yet was slim and athletic enough to be my daughter! How fickle the human body can be! But again, this lady has obviously honed her art over the years and still maintained great mobility….extremely well done bless her…the art of telling a very moving story without words….👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💕💐🦋🦋🦋🙏🙏😘
Point shoes grow with your feet, she must teach point classes I remember when I did point, that shit was hard because I had to make sure my feet wasn't bending over the wrong way my toes sometimes had blisters, I still got through it but quit point after my first year of bending my toes for half an hour and hid my point shoes
Those little boré steps she’s doing on pointe throughout the piece requires an immense amount of ankle strength for that length of time. She’s just wonderful ❤️ Thank you for sharing!
Brought tears to my eyes....I was a ballerina for 13 years and it was my greatest passion. Injuries combined with a nasty long-term eating disorder caused me to put my dreams aside for the betterment of my health. I see in the comments that she isn't 100 but is in her 80s, still very impressive of course, but it's just so incredible...I could barely make it into my 20s as a dancer with so many injuries, physical and mental, and for her to make it this far and still have balance, grace, and the skill and strength to dance en pointe. Ugh...amazing.
Do not despair... maybe you will not be a high ranking soloist ever (like most people will not) but if you love dancing and your body allows it, just go for it. I absolutely loved the BBC's (I think) " the big ballet" series starring ballerinas who would *never* be part of a regular company but that did not stop them from doing what they love. Eating disorders are a bitch! I hope you are coping and have a great life despite a wobbly start.
i was thinking the same thing. i've been a dancer for 12 years and at 18 my hip already cracks every time i bend my leg more than 90 degrees! it's incredible that she's so strong, flexible and graceful at 80.
I also had to give up the dream due to injuries. I was crippled by age 17. It took decades to overcome the eating disorder and depression. Ballet is beautiful, but the ballet world is brutal.
So glad that everyone’s seeing this. She dances at my studio and is such a wonder to be around. Truly inspiring and has been amazing and so kind to us all. She’s seen me and my friends grow up and we’ve performed with her. Amazing woman and she’s still so strong and graceful!!
So can you please clarify her age for all of the viewers? I really don't believe she could possibly be 100 at the time of this dance.... she's very beautiful and graceful though for any age!!😍💐🧚💜
• Linto • I actually don't think that by the time you get to your 70s you really care about trivia like that. I am in my 60s and couldn't care less personally. That's one of the joys of maturity. You don't care if people misdescribe you as long as you yourself know. It's pretty pathetic though that the person posting the video misinformed to get more clicks. Dishonesty means fewer subscribers. If he/she had correctly put her real age I am sure people would have still clicked in large numbers and they would have more subscribers. But then they are called The Hustle.......
The fact that she was able to do this performance on pointe for 98% of the time amazes me. That requires so much stamina, balance and focus. Good on her, she did and amazing job👏👏👏👏
@@adrienneroberts8590 she did do this routine at 100 percent perfection. When I say on pointe I mean on her toes in her pointe shoes. She danced 98 percent on pointe (on her toes)
She's not 100 years old but this is pure *talent* ... I don't think people realize how hard it is just to stay a second on your toes like that, and the moves and all, it's really TALENT
People should note: you don't see her skin sagging or bones sticking out like you do with most older folks. Her movements were all smooth and controlled, her posture straight and elegant. She had no obvious trouble getting down on one knee and standing up again. She carries no visible body fat, but she does show muscles. She is very slim but shows none of the gauntness at the neck and collarbone most elders show when the body's fat "migrates south". This ballerina has obviously worked at her dance movements, strength, and flexibility every day since she began dancing to maintain this level of perfection. I dare any who doubt her strength and stamina to stand on tippy toe and mimic her movements while you watch this in real time. She is a beautiful example of dedication to her art.
Has deceipt become the norm? With all the fancy names given to justify the motive, it is just plain dishonesty. What principles are we leaving for the next generation?

There's a modern class designed for deaf/hearing impaired dancers, which is cool. My problem is my joints, though, so I'm a fan of their Seated Salsa class. I'm eagerly anticipating the day they add seated ballet. Ballet was my first love, but the pointe shoes did not love my EDSer ankles back 😂 I will be all over seated ballet at any opportunity.

Thankfully Ballet Companies and their schools are starting to teach the importance of muscle maintenance and overall body integrity (condition) to dancers now.

so amazing how she always took care of her body, the secret is to stay flexible, dancing is a great way to keep not just your soul, but also your body healthy and happy. Wonderful !
This would be great if it was true. Unfortunately ballet wears out your body way earlier than regular lifestyle and does a lot of harm. There’s a reason ballet dancers can officially retire after 35. This makes the performance even more impressive!

how old is her real age
I understand she is actually 80, but still, who could be so graceful and beautiful at that or any age. Her beauty brought me to tears!
You are correct, I looked her up. Madame Poole, born 1940.
She looks about 20!
Yes, 80 or 100 , look at her body! No flapping arms, tight, well-developed muscles on her legs - incredible!!! I could only hope to be as great as she is when I'm her age!
I’m not crying - you’re crying. Maybe it’s just someone chopping onions.
I don’t think people understand how incredible this really is. Most people at that age can’t even walk. This is truly beautiful in more ways than one
I literally got goose bumps watching.
It is indeed incredible, but apparently She's not actually 100. She's in her 70's, from what I gather? Still very impressive!
When you've got it, you've got it!! ....and She's STILL GOT IT!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍
It’s literally her “swan song” 😢
Edit: this is a number in Swan Lake called the “Dying Swan” which is the final act and she chose this as the final act of her career. That’s the swan song I was talking about.

Cries as a former ballerina
She is truly graceful even through her old age.
Why does everyone have to make an argument out of everything?
and she makes it look so effortless too!

I went to church with this beautiful woman for several years when I was around 4-6, and I remember her so well. She danced for us multiple times and as a young baller dancer I was entirely mesmerised. Lovely, lovely woman Madame Poole is. It’s been awhile since I saw her last but I’ll never forget her
madame poole would come to my studio and teach us classes! she was so wonderful and i loved her very much!
That’s amazing.
is she really 100??
As a ballet dancer, pointe shoes are hard to be stable on, and she made it look easy!
I was thinking the same thing I used to be a ballerina back in the day I can't even stand up straight now she makes it look so elegant
Point shoes grow with your feet, she must teach point classes
I remember when I did point, that shit was hard because I had to make sure
my feet wasn't bending over the wrong way my toes sometimes had blisters, I still got through it but quit point after my first year of bending my toes for half an hour and hid my point shoes
I've never found pointe shoes to be hard to balance on. Only when the padding I put around my toes slipped was it painful.
same here, when i was 12 it was incredibly hard for me to keep my posture but she made it look so graceful and elegant
I’ve had the honor of being taught by her before and she taught me so many valuable things. Love her teaching!

I hope you are doing well now.
that is very brave of you to admit. i am sure it was an emotional loss for you.

The fact that she was able to do this performance on pointe for 98% of the time amazes me. That requires so much stamina, balance and focus. Good on her, she did and amazing job👏👏👏👏
Why 98%? Is it because no one can honestly do this routine with total perfection? I really don’t know anything about ballet.
@@adrienneroberts8590 she did do this routine at 100 percent perfection. When I say on pointe I mean on her toes in her pointe shoes. She danced 98 percent on pointe (on her toes)
@@debjohnson240 Thank you for taking the time to explain.
She's not 100 years old but this is pure *talent* ... I don't think people realize how hard it is just to stay a second on your toes like that, and the moves and all, it's really TALENT
I was wondering her real age, do you know?
'Talent' really undermines the huge amount of effort and practice she's done over the year to perfect her skill, it's SKILL not talent
@@nana_koh yeah you're right lol sorry I shouldn't say it's just talent..
And then me, a 20 year old not being able to get off bed and stand on my own two feet. Wow! Inspirational to say the least. ❤

It doesn't matter her exact age - seeing an elderly Prima performing this piece it's extraordinarily poignant and feels so much more poetic than a young woman trying to convey fragility and loss.
But as a 20 yr old I’m sure she wouldn’t have loved being called 40 same as an 80 yr old being called 100
She's no "Prima" and never was.
@@mrlopez-pz7pu A Prima Ballerina is an actual title in ballet, designating the main female dancer in a company. Since she was once a soloist in Houston Ballet, the title can apply to her, I think.
