Super basic but underrated concepts. Business is simple at it's core. Jeff clearly cared and understood customer desires. Thinking long term is essential. IIRC it took a long time before Amazon was profitable. He's also a man of his word not just saying fluffy stuff he doesn't follow. Amazon Fresh is somewhat still "misunderstood" in the sense that it is unprofitable in it's current scale, but of course with deep enough pockets he can weather the storm until it one day is (potentially).

He built a business based on providing real value and utility to the customer as opposed to one based on slick marketing and financial engineering.
