*Realizing the camera/compression didn't give this effect a fair representation. Going to do some testing to see if we can dial this in for future videos. It looks far better in person* ❤
You could try including still images, the frame-to-frame interpolation from the compression algorithm is what causes the loss, but obviously the movement is also a very important effect so that is a pretty big tradeoff. The Slo-Mo Guys did a video using glitter to try to mess with the compression and it turned out pretty good. They uploaded a 4k video as 8k to increase the bitrate. So maybe you could try editing the next sparkly video in 4k (even though you recorded at 1080p).
Love how the pink looks electric! Would love to see it in person. Great video! Definitely like the speed shape demonstration. Some other demonstration options:
1) The two of you knew the right base tone (pink) to start with, but how would it look on different shades of pink, pastel - hot pink - deep pink - etc.
2) How much does the base color of the holographic flake affect the end result? i.e., Blue, Green, Pink, all on black, can you tell the difference when sprayed? Maybe this has already been done and I need to go track down your video?!

Loooove it! Pink is just better with a lot of sparkle. I am so happy you did this on pink in recognition of breast cancer. It really did lose the pink over black. Is this a pigment that can be used with regular paint as well as dip? Thank you guys for all the fun. Your videos make me smile. Can you do a real sparkly red some time?😊

Agreed, and extra base options. I think this Pink holographic might have gone well over a purple base.

I think that having other bases colored shapes on each video is a way to go. This could help so many.
Yes, last week I REALLY would have liked to see the effect of that mix on a white background.
Can't say we will do this for every video/experiment, but it would be nice to pepper this in from time to time!
More work for them but I agree and appreciate the effort these guys go through to impress their audience.
@@dipyourcarI don't know why you wouldn't, you could have a bunch of the speed shapes already painted and waiting to go, then you already got everything mixed and set up to paint the car, it'll only take an extra minute to spray them, you don't have to show them being sprayed or spend much time showing them but with all these crazy experiments and one off projects why not see what the other possibilities look like
Even just one speed shape with a different color to give an idea how it will work with different bases. And select the speed shape color based on what you've picked for the full size one, no need to do this selection process every time.
The pink is stunning, but it is too much of a good thing. I think the contrast of the pink flakes on the black background would be more of a stunning contrast.
Exactly - or a different colour entirely, like blue or even yellow. I think that would make the flakes stand out so much more
Unfortunately, putting that over black already showed that... we'd lose the pink and it'd just be a standard holo flake.
I think there was a pink effect to the over-black. I have no idea what I'm talking about but if you REALLY loaded up the flake like 50 or 100g per gallon would the flake be denser? Might make the pink more noticeable.
I totally agree. You can see the faint haze of pink on the black and in addition to the holo effect, it looked amazing. This one is pretty, but it look a bit like sparkly Pepto. I think you should try it over the black anyway.
On the black it looked more like the space photos from NASA

I think you should darken the pink to further bring out the shimmer, it would probably create a more dynamic looking shine than the bright pink.
Maybe something to explore, pretty cool!

@@sarabesmith1768 Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. A deep red would help bring out the pink, while also giving more contrast to crank up the holo effect.
That flake looks fabulous on the black! I also think it would beautiful on a dark purple base!!❤

I once painted a hearse a plum purple, with gold emblems. I wish I'd had this type of flake for it.

Pink with black racing stripes would have been the best of both, help break up the super neon effect a bit. Also would have been nice to have a grey speed shapes in addition to the black, white, and pink

For a car that is supposed to represent breast cancer awareness, you guys nailed it! When I see that glitter sparkling back, I feel hope. I wish I lived or worked just down the road so I could see a lot of these cars in person. RUclips doesn’t do them justice.

If the green shows up, I wouldn't mind, but if it was like the pink flake over black on this and the pink just doesn't show up... you might as well just put regular holo over black.

I think a dark red like wine red would be perfect. That way it's dark enough to contrast the flake but not wash out the tint. Or even possibly a dk gray

I think for the occasion of breast cancer awareness, the bright pink is more appropriate. But thats exactly what I was thinking too, some kind of maroon or wine color would make this pop

Yeah, it's not translating well on my phone screen at all. Just a big lot of pink.
Don't think the video compression helps either. It's well known that it doesn't like snow, glitter and other particle effects. Just nopes out.
I stopped the video to check what the resolution was, thinking it dropped to something not HD, but was at 720.
I'm not a big fan of pink but if I had to stick to pink-ish, I would have used a dusky rose (more peach based than pink) as the base color. The holo seems to have a bit of a peach/orange shimmer that I think would accentuate the rose so beautifully.

I think id like to then see comparison of different shades of pink and maybe even reds. I think matching to that coral pink that the glitter is at would be amazing, but also to see different shades of pink and see how it contrasts. I think this pink was so extreme that it also kind of ate the holo look where you really have to look to see the holo coz the pink is so overpowering and bright
Agreed - out of all the small scale tests, I liked the pink best, but I wasn’t captivated by this particular shade of pink. I think it was a bit too warm. Reminds me of one of the clip textas haha
This is a 6/5. Absolutely killer!! There's a nice fuchsia to pink to yellow pop that is really set off by the pink base!! Glad you guys did the speed shape test beforehand!!

I LOVE holographic flakes - the glitter effect really is unmatched. This time, the flake's effect seemed very subtle, which is something I've never seen before. It's quite pleasing though, and reminds me of the rainbows you get from a sprinkler. 5/5.

its ok, the effect is just lost in the pink base for me, I loved the way it looked over the black, had kind of a galaxy/space vibe maybe use a nebula purple pearl as a base and spray this over it and see it how looks
It looks great, buuuuut way to pink for me. I like it better on the black. Probably looks better in person.

I personally liked the speckle look on the white. It allows for heavier coverage in multiple passes to add up to the point where you want it to be, not just speckles on white. It should theoretically build up a blush pink base. The pink on pink isn't bad, but I think it takes away from the holographic flake you just put on. You could've put a standard holographic flake on the pink and gotten this outcome. 4/5.

It's definitely one of the coolest pink cars on the road! I like how it flops between warm and cool pink with a neony bubblegum somewhere in the middle.
That power ranger pink is 🔥🔥 i honestly like the subtle shimmer in the paint. And yeah more base color options for each paint would be coo to see in the future.

That is something that really needs to be seen in person. Love the effect (even though I hate pink), but I don't think the camera picks it up as well as it could. 5 for the effect and breast cancer awareness!

So I started watching your videos and I’m amazed at what you can do with colors and how they look. I’m obsessed with the green and blue ones! I’ve dreamed of coloring my car. The geek in me couldn't help but think that the shot of the mixer swirling all that around would make a GREAT shot of a container full of pink nanobots! Pink is one of my two "blech" colors along with purple, so even though this is nice and sparkly and pink for Breast Cancer Awareness, it's a 4.
Something tells me this needs to be seen in person to get full effect.
