      You should strive to be a calvinist anyway because being an arminian means you dont have a high view of Gods sovereignty. If youre stuck up on a word/classification then youve got bigger problems in life.

      Jim: Don't have to be, but if you want to glorify God and not fabricate your own ideas about the clear teaching of the Bible, then thorough going Calvinism is the only way. Of course Calvinism is not only your hatred for God's Sovereignty, but a complete system derived from the Scripture alone.

    I, a teen, have been considering for a while whether it would be wise to try and enter a relationship with a girl that we would ideally hold until marriage age. This video has shown me that it would be extremely risky to do so, and for that, I thank you. If it weren't for this video, I could have ended up a burnt-out wanderer from the zone of vulnerability.

    A perfectly logical and Biblically sound overview of how a relationship leading to a covenantal marriage should progress. But here's the tough part. We live in a world of people that have strayed so far from and been so polluted by this world's relationship poison and chaos it is going to take decades to correct.

    The time spent courting and getting to *really* know a person deeply would necessitate a length of time in that zone of vulnerability. For example, I dated my wife for 5 1/2 years.... mostly out of necessity because we were too young to get married... but it is (IMHO) absolutely necessary to spend a good bit of time there before you get married.

    • @hookoffthejab1
      @hookoffthejab1 2 года назад +2

      @A P that's far from the only necessary components though. Getting to truly know your significant other takes dedication to studying them, and testing how their callings, spiritual goals, life visions, expectations, etc, match up with yours. Even the secularist researchers recommend a minimum of a year and that's not even taking into account the spiritual quests we believers need to embark on during dating. But I do believe once you start getting further after that year mark that temptation and bad habits grow for most people.

      @@davidfayfield6594 I'm not in the business of making hard rules to reign over other people, but it's easy to say that it's unnaural for a woman to leave her newborn baby. In our society we pressure women to do it as "normal" when in reality, for all of human history it isn't normal. It shouldn't be considered the standard.

    • @davidfayfield6594

      @@davidfayfield6594 I know in my walk that there were things I desired that weren't of God and God was more than capable of correcting and growing me. I trust God to do the same for others. Marriage is meant to make families. If a christisn women(or man for that matter) has the gift of celibacy and chooses for remain single so they can better serve the church, that's honorable. If christian couples are getting married and choosing to remain childless, I think that it's obvious that's against scripture. No, I don't think that "we" should force people to have children, but I do think honest preaching of God's word is necessary.

    I've enjoyed these videos on relationships however. it keeps irking me that Doug keeps bringing up height in them. I don't appreciate it at face value. Is he implying that I can't be true godly man or have a God honouring relationship with a woman unless I am tall or at least taller than her? I'm 5 feet tall and I've been rebuilding my confidence after being dumped and rejected for that one reason but when Doug brings up height it feels like he is saying I'm a lost cause.

      I don't think he means that at all. My brother in law is short too and struggled with it too , but nonetheless he married really well . He has the best wife of all his brothers( my husband being one of them ) a great career making tones of money and a genius of a son . He himself matured and grew a lot through the years and even tho as a young man didn't promised much he turned to be quite an impressive intellectual . Took him a while , but he did it.

    I believe that the whole concept of courtship is detrimental to our community. Having "try-outs" among God's family is a circumvent around real relationships that are god inspired. This presupposition is discounting the fact that our God does not work on our timetable, nor does he have to acquiesce our desires. So the fact that 20 guys are dry humping the air for one woman is a pretty clear demonstration that we as men of God are disoriented in our placement of purpose. It's about the Kingdom of God first and foremost on an individual level. From there it impacts community and thereon out.

    • @_lithp

      That’s what it sounds like. At the very least, you shouldn’t allow yourself to become emotionally vulnerable to those you don’t intend to marry.
      Modern relationships are the opposite.

    • @horrificpleasantry9474
      @horrificpleasantry9474 2 года назад +2

      It means you shouldn't get in the zone unless it's clear you're going to get married, barring some exceptional deal breaking revelation, and you then never leave the zone, because you get married.

    Is there something like this but for women

  • @snaphaan5049
    @snaphaan5049 2 года назад +2

    Male and female relationships were originally meant to be a friendship of equality. Man was not created to rule over woman. But due to our fallen state a woman's "desire" and longing has been to her husband. We have the same relationship with God. Mankind and God were supposed to be friends but due to the fall he has to be our spritual husband. But... sometimes that friendship between man and woman still manifests. He does not rule over her neither does she rule over him. A relationship like that is a (for me) a little peek into the Garden. Anyways. Just a thought.

    I've done both, Mr Mom-ing AND stirring my coffee with a screwdriver (it was handy), much like being a Mr Mom. My wife had a career, as did I (and hobbies), while she was a youth group leader, coached them for years at the "Y" in basketball and soccer, etc. With two boys four years apart the schedule was mind numbing, talk about needing the employ of a maid and Uber driver ... It's an Uber task indeed daunting but rewarding, but integral in the equation without saying is your choice of spouse. Persevere you can have it all, it's just not easy...
