I am 67 years old, I’ve only been thrown a cast net for about a year or so most of the time they end up, looking like bananas in the bottom of our pool but after watching your video, I can throw perfect circles with a four or 6 foot in that every time. Thank you so much for putting this video together in helping us out you are a godsend. I really appreciate everything that you put into this. Thank you thank you thank you
I’ve been throwing net taco’s for a year. I just watched this, went out in my driveway and threw a net pancake on my first attempt. Thanks so much for this.
Same. I can't believe I was spent all this time watching 20 min videos on this like they were trying to teach me to play Eruption on guitar. It's not rocket science.
Been throwing net tacos for a year. This comment gave me hope. I will try this tomorrow. Many methods haven't done anything for me. I do everything right. I think my body and swing is where I'm not getting it right. Cheers
I've tried dozens of methods for years with little success This is the first method that I can CONSISTENTLY throw a full circle, and don't have to bite it or throw a wet net over my shoulder. Don't know where you learned it but THANKS! Less time catching bait, more time catching fish!
@TheFamilyCarr I tried it today and another style and your methid by far is more consistent especially since I am still getting the hang of it. I managed to catch a bunch of glass minnows
I sure won't bad mouth any of the other cast net videos I watched till this one but all I'll say is this is the one that worked for me. Appreciate you buddy!
Worked for several hours trying to throw the net the way the instructions showed - used your method and made perfect cast from then on. Thanks - Great video
Thank you! I’ve been struggling with a cast net for over a year now. Yesterday I was out on my boat and watched your video, and it clicked. I’m now able to throw my 6 foot net and it open every single time! Thanks again!
I recently bought a 6 ft cast net and watched a few videos on how to use it .Sincerely, your was the one that hit the nail on the head. Also, you have a good sense of humor.Thank You.
Good easy to follow tutorial while in actual water and not on a lawn. I'll assume you gather fewer than the six weighted end loops you did with a smaller diameter net. Finally someone using good background music instead of crappy metal or neo-country music.
I bought two nets around ten years ago, got frustrated and never looked at them again. Now I want to do some shrimping and figured let me give it a shot again. So I watched a lot of videos and decided to try your way. Practiced on the lawn. First throw - a pancake! Showed my son and tried again - another pancake! Your technique worked for me! Now let me see if I can get that blue whale! THANKS!
i never comment on videos but this one is worth it has PERFECT circles every time i throw it no joke definitely will help me catch tons of bait fish thanks very much man
After watching many videos, your right!!!! you have the easiest way, thank you for sharing it!!! NO mouth, no percentages of this and that, no shoulder!!! Nice technique
I've watched several different versions of net throwing and this is by far the easiest to understand. The others have you going under this and over that, and you have to put part of the net on your shoulder, etc.
About 17 years ago I did this. I was only a kid catching bait fish all the time and letting most go if they didnt die trying to get them out of the net I dont remember my method but I'm going to try this method tomorrow morning. Thanks bro
Oh man, thank you so much! I watched many videos and tried many many hours and I could never get it. I watched you video just a few minutes ago and I succeeded immediately!!!!!!
Holly crap , this is hands down the most simple and effective way to throw a cast net , might take longer to set up but will have a pancake every time !
Works perfect for me! Tried lots of other techniques with lots of cussing involved. Tried this one and in the first throw got a perfect cast. Can’t wait to use on the water instead of my yard!
I caught 5 crappie in one throw! I was planning on perch for my trot line but didn't need it after catching dinner before 10am. Thanks again for helping me eat.
Hey man...excellent video. I started today in my backyard and less than 30 minutes perfect loops. Will apply on the water but will keep practicing at home. Thanks for simplifying and avoidance of a mouth full of lead... looking forward to putting this in action
Worked wonderfully for me with a Betts brand 4' cast net in my shallow saltwater canal. Next time I try this I'll video tape my cast and whatever I might catch. Thanks for a useful cast net instructional explanation and video.
Still very happy with your video as it has helped me learn to use my 4' cast net. However, I've discovered to get the best casts for me at 6'1" using such a small cast net is NOT to do the step of putting half the net into my right hand. I've found that if i go from the horn to them holding four weighed ends, I get the same 'look' your net has before you throw and it opens up in the four foot near perfect circle it should. I thought I'd add this little bit I've learned in case others are tall and are using small cast nets. I also use it in the brackish water canal in my backyard and had to lose it because I must have nailed one of the small (4-6 feet long) alligators that also swim in these canals. That loop around my wrist nearly pulled me in once the gator felt the net begin to close around most of its body. I'm guessing I got it's head and at least front feet. It began to become frantic and then it started to barrel roll as they do when they've caught something to eat. I wish I had a GoPro or some type of body camera to post that crazy experience. Just glad I was able to not get pulled in, and get just enough slack to pull the loop off my wrist. I'm not sure if I'll be getting another cast net, but I thought I'd share my crazy experience in case others are thinking of casting a net into a canal without knowing exactly what might be swimming by at the time! LOL
Nice very nice video m8 probably the best I've seen... I've watched over 20 videos for cast netting and yrout technique. Goes the furthest... Big up for you dude
that is basically how I throw too, I learned it from a guy from Australia when I was in the southern outer banks north Carolina, works well for me, nice video
Awesome.I've been having a hard time throwing a net with limited rotation of my back. This looks like with your technique it will be possible for me to catch bait again. Thank you for sharing. most appreciated...
So fun to watch! Even thought I'm not a fisher guy. (Yet) also, the audio sounded so good on the GoPro. Also, that hook comment sounds like everybody in California. 😆 also, love the new name "familycarr". Also, keep it up.
That Happy Family Thanks! Also you should fish more! Also yeah I kind of customized the Gopro housing! Also I'm pretty sure everyone there was from California! Also thanks! Also you too!
Will try again in morning, practice in the front yard. I wish I could see how your upper body looks like when you throw. Are you putting all your weight on one side, pivot, spin and throw? Please do another short video. Just moved to the lake and have lots of grandchildren and visitors. I hope This video will help me. I struggle making it look like a pancake. Tonight while trying, net got stuck on pole of a very large pier. Ripped a large hole , mostly on top. I have a 5 or 6 feet net. I will let you know how it all pans out tomorrow. Thank you! Susan Goins I’m so sorry to hear about your friends! I hope you’re able to get some good pancakes, I do twist my upper body when I throw., I face my left shoulder forward and spin as I throw the net. Try a few different twists and do what feels most natural!
Good looking mullet in the end. They ain't running right now. Sad. I don't know why this popped up on my feed, but I watched it. I'm 6'5" toss a 7 footer all day every day. Pretty much the same way. I go 3 max on the front lead lines. May rethink that as my shoulder grows older.
Maybe a tuna sandwich? Or how about some sun fried shrimp! Maybe just take a big gulp of salt water, you might get a couple of delicious crustaceans with each sip! yum!
Erik sort of. you don’t want it to “snag” on your left hand tho. I kind of twist my left arm with the circular motion to help it spin a little better, and let go of the net with both hands at the same time
I am 67 years old, I’ve only been thrown a cast net for about a year or so most of the time they end up, looking like bananas in the bottom of our pool but after watching your video, I can throw perfect circles with a four or 6 foot in that every time.

Yep, thats how I do it. Haven't tried a 10' but it works with an 8'r too...
Long hunter no way that’s good to know!
do you let the weight of the right hand carry it out of your left hand when you throw?
Erik sort of. you don’t want it to “snag” on your left hand tho. I kind of twist my left arm with the circular motion to help it spin a little better, and let go of the net with both hands at the same time
Tried it works good !
