Hey Santee - the method of identification used was the Bertillon method where precise measurements were made of the criminals height, weight, phsyical characteristics and measurements of facial features and limb lengths. Before fingerprints this was used to identify criminals and was created by a French police officer. It became a science called anthropometry. Liked the music BTW.

I took a tour of Yuma territorial prison back in 1982..there were lots of pictures of the inmates up on a wall.
I was surprised at the number of famous outlaws who were there...
under each picture, it said what the inmate was convicted of and how much time he got...quite a few of them were there for adultry. If you were caught cheating on your wife it carried a prison sentence..if I remember right, I think the average sentence for adultry was about two to four years..
also at this prison was a deep hole in the ground so deep you couldnt see the bottom...if an inmate misbehaved or tried to escape, that's where they put them.
That's where the term.."The Hole".. came from.
I also toured the town jail in Virginia city Nevada. There were no beds or cots in the jail, nothing to sit on either... because a bed or cot was considered a luxury that the prisoner didn't deserve.
The jail cells were not big enough to lay down in. It was just basically a small cage to stand in..
The prisoners in those days didnt have it nearly as good as we see in cowboy westerns on TV

Australia’s most famous outlaw Ned Kelly was in prison one.His father went to prison and died not long after he got home.Ned became the man of the house. His uncle(if I remember right) got Ned in rustling witch he was caught doing and sent to prison. After he got back he borrowed a horse from his friend witch was actually stolen. The cops noticed and thought he did it but reality he didn’t.He did go to ja8l for that but no sentence. He later went back to his uncle and did a few more jobs. Not long after he was a pub and cop came up to him and they started to get drunk. The cop didn’t like Ned and a bunch of things witch I won’t state here because it’ll just get too long.Ill just say it started what he is famous for. Even after a petition was signed by 40,000 that wanted Ned not to be hung Ned was hung after his last stand were he wore is famous armour. The other three members of the Kelly gang died at the last stand . Ned was the only survivor on his gang until his execution. His last reportedly words were ‘Such is life’.

I would like to learn about the western prisons. Women in the west did not always have a fair shake in the prisons.

I just did another episode in the Myth vs. Reality playlist about jailbreaks. I go into a little more detail there.

Rustling is the word I used.
      Wresting....hmmm. Definition of wresting:
To forcibly pull (something) from a person's grasp.
That could work if someone is holding on to a cow.
