    The linking of the lights would be more accurate using the inverse squared law. It is extremely easy to implement here. It is states that the amount of light is inversely proportional to the squared distance or 1/d^2. Implemented here, it would be power/distance^2.

    Thanks for the shader and video! I have a question though. When I added the glass shader to a UV sphere the reflections became jagged and pixelated but only on the uv sphere. But the reflections on your glass objects looks fine. Is there a way to fix this? Blender 2.93.

    • @cgvertex

  • @Clyman974

    The node is genius! I just don't understand how to use the "Caustics" parameter on the Glass 2.3 node, I added a point light under my glass, but nothing happens no matter its value

    • @cgvertex
      @cgvertex  3 года назад

      It is basically a shadow transparency value. If you want caustics you have to set it to 1. Also this part is important 0:54

  • @basspig

    I haven't been able to get Blender to pass my flashlight reflector test. MentalRay in Maya 2015 was the only renderer that could cast a beam from a point light in front of a parabolic object shaded as a mirror.

    why is cycles not like luxcore

    • @cgvertex
      @cgvertex  3 года назад

      This is a rather difficult question. It is a limitation of the classic path tracing algorithm. But there is a good chance that after they complete the Cycles X project, something like this will be possible.
      Gleb Alexandrov has a brief overview of the differences at the beginning of this video: ruclips.net/video/1p7l9MNpLdo/видео.html

    • @cgvertex
      @cgvertex  3 года назад +1

      This is not intended as a replacement for SPPM rendering engines, it is just a trick that I used to show that something similar is possible in a real-time renderer. It is absolutely reasonable that you will not use it instead of luxcore. It's real time, so for someone it can be useful.
