I've done this and I think it's worth the time! I've had washi tape that won't tear off right and scotch tape that wouldn't stick right. This is the only surefire way to make sure there's no extra tape to stick to. It's SO annoying to get my palm or wrist stuck to that excess so this ends the aggravation :-)
Great video rose to show just how easy it is to remove excess glue lay over, yes a little time consuming but such an easy simple fix and exactly how I do it myself when needed x
That was so cool. I am so glad I watch. I have a new painting coming soon. I will be doing this to it if there is a lot of glue. Thank you so much for sharing. Have a lovely day.
A great tip, thank you. I had used washi tape previously and will never do that again. It was stuck on there almost permanently and took me forever to peel it off.
If you're talking about double-sided tape canvases, I use a ruler and an exacto knife to cut the excess tape, and then carefully lift it off the canvas. Or I just cover it with invisible tape or washi tape, depending on my mood Some people apply baby powder, but I find that too messy, us it's a carcinogen.
Hello Rose, you did an excellent job in showing us how to remove that pesky glue. With 4 dogs I've learned it doesn't take much glue for that flying fur to attach itself to a new owner. I'm so sorry that I did share with you about my brother's wedding. I thought I had. Oh my memory. Of course they picked the hottest day of the year. Which would have been no problem but their venue was a small restaurant on a golf course. The air conditioner couldn't keep up with 45 to 50 people in there. That was only glitch and hard for my sister to take pictures of wedding party coming down the aisle. She did manage to get some beautiful ones though. Lol my brother also discreetly held his phone and videoed his own wedding. Lol 😂. I was so busy watching him watching his bride come down the isle I didn't notice. Her wedding party except for matron of honor consisted of 5 or 6 children. Flower girls were my brothers granddaughters. As you can imagine it was adorable to say the least. What is a true blessing Ruth knows she can't replace Nadine. But she talked with my sister and me and knows how much we have missed that relationship in our lives. She wants to help fill that emptiness and also wants to know more about what Nadine was like as a sister and friend as we know her. Lori and I both were so touched to say the least. Yes, we all were crying tears both of happiness and sadness too. As for me medically, I was sore the next day but did rest and not over do it. Now if I would just keep that in mind everyday. Dr Barrett said I would be sore for 10 days. He is right about that. Even as I'm typing this I'm sore. But it's not that pain from the osteoarthritis and stenosis though. Totally different ballgame there. My Mom did well also on the wedding day. She was very, very tired like you would expect an 88 year old to be from such a long day. She does amazingly well though. Still lives at home. Drives short distances. Thank you for wanting to know how everything went and how I'm doing. I so appreciate it and the growing friendship we have. Your Dad is in my prayers as always too. You and your fur babies have an amazing weekend. Jesus bless you and yours,Lin ✝️🐶🐶🐶🐶🐢🐦🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎🦎💖🦒🐧🐲🤗
Hi Lin, your memory is better than mine. You had told me about the ceremony before - the flower girls, the heat. I'm sorry I forgot. But the added details today really brought the day to life for me - your brother recording his own ceremony, your and your sister's conversation with Ruth. Those details make me feel like I was there.🥰. I'm so glad the ablation has taken away the pain you had, and you're almost to the end of the 10-day soreness period, so hopefully by Monday you will be 100% pain-free! Thanks for keeping my Dad in your prayers. He's staying strong and his outlook is positive. I'm looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow for a few days. I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Be well. 😘💖
Hi Rose, I do appreciate that you made this video for your newer subscribers. I too do not like using washi tape and have at one point thought of using duct tape for the edges but did not. I use a right angle ruler to keep my square full drill straight around the edges yet does not always work, is this how you keep your lines straight as well? Thank you so much for the tutorial. I definitely rung that bell. :) ~*Shana signing out.
Hi Shana, thank you so much for subscribing! I don't use a ruler or other guide to keep edges straight anymore. I find with square drills if I'm careful placing my drills, the edges end up pretty straight. I generally aim to align the bottom left corner of each drill with the left bottom corner of each square in the grid on the canvas. That works quite well, and does and columns are very straight. I hope you continue to enjoy my videos! 😘💖
You mentioned this is the method you use for paper covers. Is this not an appropriate method to use for transparent covers used with poured glue canvases? Or, does this problem not occur with that type of canvas?
I agree with you. I love setting up my projects but that is one step too far. I use low tap tape mostly, it’s clear and doesn’t spoil the look of the progressive picture unfolding but if it’s a wide piece of glue like this canvas I’d use masking tape.

I saw an earlier video where you taught this and am so thankful that I did. Great hack, thank you for this lesson xo
I love your videos. my mom had knee surgery a week ago and I am helping her so I haven't been able to watch your videos much lately.
Hi Michelle, I hope your mother recovers quickly from her knee surgery. She's lucky to have you to help her. 😘💖
Hi, Rose. Great idea!. Thank you for sharing. Enjoy.

Will the exacto knife cut the canvas if you want the edge to be flush with the drill area? Or should I use a box cutter
I use the exacto knife because I can control pressure better than with my box cutter. I accidentally cut the canvas when I tried using the box cutter!
Thank you for sharing Rose 💖
What do you do about stickness on areas that do not use drills on a partial diamond painting canvas?
If you're talking about double-sided tape canvases, I use a ruler and an exacto knife to cut the excess tape, and then carefully lift it off the canvas. Is there a way to remove excess glue if you didnt think of it until done placing the jewels? Because I'm there. 🙄🤦
Hi Kelly - you can do it exactly the same way as I demonstrated in this video. 😊

Poured glue doesn't usually need to be trimmed. And because it's a liquid, this method wouldn't work for it.
Fair idea for those who prefere it but I will stick with washi tape to avoid the time and effort.
