I’d take 3 super bowl wins and a super bowl mvp over a pro bowl selection

All day
"The GOAT throws to people he knows will be there." Exactly.
As do we all
I love how Rich (a jets fan) seems to love BB, TB12, Gronk and Jules. You’ll never see it again folks, what a run
His wife (Suzy Shuster) is from Boston and is a big fan.
Don't be so sure about that.
I’m a Jets fan and love those 3 too.
He's a Michigan honk, which helps
@@70elcamino57 His knee is shot. He's done.
that's the way everyone should be talking about his retirement
You're goddamn right it should be.
No... everyone suckin him off is completely overlooking how he wpuldve been nothing without Brady. He wouldve been Tim dwight without brady. That's respectable, but not HOF.
@@mrdgenerate you sound fun at parties..
@@mrdgenerate he was a great and respected player, that what should be talked about, not whether or not he should be in HOF, obviously brady greatly helped his career
@@mrdgenerate, that's an extremely flawed logic. Any receiver is remarkably dependant of the quarterback capabilities. The Goat Jerry Rice wouldn't be who is without Montana and Young (two all-time greats). Just think what would be of Jerry Rice if Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow were the ones throwing the ball to him. I don't get the need to diminish Edelman saying that he'd be NOTHING without Brady only because you don't think that he belongs in the HOF. It's pathetic.
Rich is all class. Love this guy. Thanks for just celebrating the guy.
'He could, and did, do everything - catch, run, throw, block, return, cover and tackle - all with an edge and attitude that would not allow him to fail under any circumstance. Julian Edelman is the ultimate competitor' - Belichick said it best. He'll most likely get snubbed from the HoF, but we'll have a red jacket waiting for him Patriot Place in 5 years.
Rich you're a class act. This is a perfect point. The fact we're even talking about HoF when talking about this crazy Kent state qb turned legendary slot receiver is epic enough.
Plus he's got a the catch moment in a legendary superbowl comeback
He made everyone forget about wes welker
What? No.
and he was clutch unlike welker
Enjoyed Wes and real enjoyed Julian. One tough guy. And you can never forget that catch in the come from behind Super Bowl. 👍🏈👍
@Mark Douglas unfortunately for wes the super bowl wins stat isn't very good. He was a key part of two of the best offenses in history that played their worst game in the SB.
@Mark Douglas except the difference between edelman and welker is that welker drops a pass in his bread basket and edelman catches a ball that should never be caught.
Remember, Brady spreads the ball around better than any other quarterback. Which is a detriment to any receivers stats. Congrats JE
Dude who legit played until the wheels fell off. So much respect from NE fans for Edelman.
It was rough watching Edelman destroy the Rams in the 2019 Superbowl. Hall of Fame or not, Julian was a real talent.
And as much as it was talent it was hard work and toughness
Yeah I was pissed watching that game. Wade couldn’t figure out how to stop him.
Ryan Allen destroyed the Rams that game - 5 straight punts inside the 20 - Goff was throwing from his own end zone the entire game
@@trevmac8362 sadly, facts.
@@blakeharris58 Yeah well not total facts but put me in a court of law and if the opposing lawyer wasn't that smart I could get away with making a case for Allen being the MVP *LOL*
It’s hard not to like edelman (I’m a dolphin fan btw) since he is such a great guy and he doesnt take himself too serious unlike some other players
Pat's fan. That catch against the Falcons.
I don't think Boston would allow this man to pay for his own beer that month.
I was there.hes got a lifetime supply here.hes going to tampa.
If you replace Welker with Edelman in 2012 Superbowl, then that's a catch and win for NE.
I don't think Edelman has to pay for a beer ever in New England.
Overrated
Dream King cry
Edelman had such a gritty play style, he reminded me so much of Walter Payton. I always loved watching him play no matter the position.
A small piece of the NFL dies with JULES retirement !! Quintessential player and team mate !! Much LOVE & RESPECT.......thank you JULES......thank you for all the undying memories !!
Dramatic much. Not overstating his importance to the pats but really dude? The whole NFL? Gtfo
Way to be so gracious, Rich. You are the football dad this league needs.
Great career. Edelman stepped up when he++it mattered most. He caught passes and scored touchdowns from the greatest to ever play. He even caught a backward pass and threw a touchdown as a former QB in the playoffs. Great career. He doesn't need anything else, unless he decides to play for the Bucs in 2022.
or wants to be in HOF
@@bobbythorton7693 It's the chitchat from others, us included.
@Joshua Dasilva ¿Qué tiene que ver el tocino con la velocidad? We're talking speed here, not lard :)
@Joshua Dasilva Screw Trump... and his supporters.
Rich Eisen speaks so poetically. He is my favorite in the sports media world. Well said Rich!
It was an honor having you here Julian....love ❤️ u always
In my opinion he is the ultimate patriot player
Has anyone made more clutch plays?
I feel so old. I literally watched this dude go from a scrappy beardless rookie happy to catch a pass from Tom Brady, to being the 2nd best statistical playoff receiver of all time only behind Jerry Rice. He may have played poorly in his final years, but when he was in his prime and in the playoffs, he was a beast. Patriots legend forever.
Just wait until all the players your age have retired. And a few are already in the Hall.
@@jpmnky I know right? I love that Brady is still playing and he's older than me lol
Edelman is a tough dude and clutch. Patriots should at least put a trio of statues in the entrance of their stadium--Brady, Gronk, Edleman
If Eli is a HoF then Edelman is a HoF
Definitely not eli.
No
Proud to share my name with one of the greatest to ever do it... say what you will but this guy inspired the crap out of everyone and even lifted Tom up when needed which is crazy to think about... “YOURE OLD!!” He would yell at Tom to get him fired up... “it’s gonna be a hell of a story”... I’ll never forget that... thank you JE11
Incredible talent and toughness.
JE11 exit interview with BB.... "you are not going to Tampa.. are you! "
2nd all-time to Jerry Rice in postseason catches and yards. That's just simply incredible. That puts him in Canton. What a gifted football player, but a even more gifted teammate. PATS already feeling his absence this year....
My dream in life would be to have Rich Eisen do a monologue like this about my life. He’s so good at articulating thoughts and feelings lol
Edelman isn’t done being in the spotlight. I’d expect him to have a role in NE or some nfl analyst job.
Id love for him to be a WR coach
I think he's bound for more than coaching. Something like cultural outreach, he is extremely well spoken and approachable. Just my opinion.
Burger Time: The Movie.
Probably - No way in hell is he gonna pull what Gronk did
It is the Hall of Fame not the Hall of Stats. Julian will be remembered fondly when it comes time for consideration.
Hell of a career. Hell of a man.
One of the toughest football players I have ever seen.
Wards was better Tougher.
Close...but, I still have Edelman in the clutch!
@@EscapeArt15 it's not even close smh but I guess .
It's a show well-worth watching 'til the end, always very interesting. I will agree, if there is a discussion about it, he should be.
Rich, WELL SAID AND WELL DONE
One of the favorite of favorites! Just needs a call from Gronk. Tampa currently has Cam Brate as backup QB.
Dude was the “Ultimate Chains mover,” in and out of the playoffs. Over the last 8 years, when the Pats and Brady needed a clutch 1st down, it was Edelman that delivered. I say that if Lynn Swann defined the 70s Steelers’ air attack then Edelman should be that poster boy for the 2010s Patriots.
Really great take.
Brady completed more career passes to Jules than to any receiver he ever passed to in his career.Edelman can be proud to say that!
No that’s not true at all. It’s randy Moss. That’s not even counting gronk.
@@Joes35 Moss only had 271 catches in his entire patriots stint
@@salamipitza and still had more touchdowns than Julian Edelman. What’s your point?
@@Joes35 well you said Moss has more catches from Brady than Edelman
@@salamipitza oh he changed the comment. It said td passes.
Love this!
To me is the caind of career that he made. The guy took the opportunity and never let it go then he was blessed with a GREAT QB and men he defined himself and no one can take that ever from him, good for you men and that fron a Bill fan.
Ben Coates, eh? I thought he left in 99..:
It will be interesting to see where he goes from here.
That's such a great point I haven't heard yet Rich. Brady needed someone to match his intensity and not only did Jules meet it, he even at times exceeded it which was remarkable. I always think about the squirrel screaming right in the face of the GOAT during the AFC championship game against the Chiefs shouting "You're too F-ing old! You're too old!" Julian Edelman was an incredible player.
After a year off Gronk looked five years younger. Who knows maybe with a year off, surgery, some TB12/ Stem cells.....maybe one last ride with 45-year-old Brady. Then again flunking a physical probably means it's over. Kraft needs to commission a sculpture of The Catch. There are way less worthy players in The HOF. It's not the Hall of Stats otherwise, Namath isn't anywhere near the HOF.
That's a great idea! 😊
Joe Namath was the first QB to throw for 4000 yds in a season, and he did so in a 14 game season 10 years before the Mel Blount rule of 78
Yeah cause hearing this guy talk was way better than just a VIDEO highlight reel.
Juules!!!
This "retirement" is gonna be one hell of story. Hall of famer.... via the Buc's.
Edelman was that old school rough and tough across the middle take it in there chin type of receiver. Definitely not like some of the prima donna divas we see these days.
It's gonna be a hell of a story.
Favorite player of all time. He is a legend.
San Mateo CA
Tough as an old saddle. Never say die. I speak for my two sons when I say, he was our favorite Pats player without question.
@7:14 Diamond Dallas Paige would be proud.
We're all forgetting that Jules was a great person, teammate and was NEVER a diva. That made him fly under the radar alot. I see some calling him overrated, thats ridiculous to call Edelman overrated since him, Amendola and Gronk were the Pats of offense with White and Lewis in the backfield for those winning SBs. EDELMAN YOU RESEMBLE THE PATRIOT WAY
"The Boston Knee Party"...😁
Hines Ward! Was a QB At Georgia and a 3rd round pick he played with Kordell Stewart half of his career... If you want to talk about someone that needs to be in the Hall of Fame and has the numbers to back it up double what Edelman has. This is a joke
in team sports a players impactfulness should account for more when considering HoF status and Edelman had 1 heII of an impact.
Welcome to Tampa.
Fake
It's criminal that these possession receivers are only looked at for total yards and touchdowns. Hines Ward is a HOF player. No doubt. Edelman is without a doubt a Hall of Famer. I was lucky enough to play the top level of my sport and there are people who get worse under pressure, people who stay about the same and then there's the rare breed who are better. I intentionally didn't use the word fearless because sometimes you are nervous and scared as hell, but revel in the opportunity to be great. If you're going to put Eli in the HOF, there's no doubt about Julian.
It's complicated. I get all those saying the shouldn't be in, but I'm sure if you ask Brady who'd he like to throw to in a dire situation.....He will 100% say Edelman.
He is not a fucking Hall of Famer 😂 yall gotta stop
Let me preface my comments by saying I'm a Giants fan. The debate to whether or not Julius Edelman is a HOF player is irrelevant. To me what will define his legacy is he is one of the best clutch performers in not just football, but in all of sports. L'chaim Julius. You are a true winner.
He said Foxborough forever...
After he heals, he'll play in Tampa...maybe one last season with TB12 😊 Hall of Fame bound 🐿
Bro no he’s not.
@@evilearthego5256 We'll see, Bro 😄
@@williambagley5415 Just because one player did that, y’all think y’all are geniuses at predicting things like this. He’s not needed in Tampa, nor will they have the spot for him or the money. Just because a mf retired and pulled that move once before doesn’t mean it’s gonna continue to happen. Y’all gotta stop 😂
He aint going to Tampa they already have enough receivers.
@Mark Douglas EVERRRR
How long until Edelman signs with Tampa?
Edelman is a hof caliber player he played offense defense and special teams he's second all time to Jerry Rice in terms of catches yards and tds in the playoffs including superbowl games
The Edelman HOF talk is crazy. Sterling Sharpe and Torry Holt arent in, then he definitely aint getting in. He never even made a pro bowl in an era where practically every mid tier player has at least 1.
It is not a Hall of Stats/Pro Bowls. In Edelman's prime (2014-2018), the patriots went to 4 SBs and won 3 of them, with Edelman amassing 2nd best WR stats in the postseason, getting 1 SB MVP. He does not have stats like Tyreek Hill in the regular season, but he more of a beast in the postseason. Is Sterling Sharpe and Torry Holt better? Edelman's Patriots was the 2nd Pats Dynasty, they were legendary. They are famous for that, he was a big part of it. Can you tell stories about Sterling Sharpe or Torry Holt like what you can tell about Edelman? I guess not.
A 4 year span of dominance doesn’t get you in the hall.
@@ReneParada So should Dwight Clark and John Taylor be in the hall too? I argue theyre more deserving than Edelman but still not Hall worthy. Should David Tyree be in, plenty to tell of him.
@@jagartharn6361 David Tyree made one play his whole career. Such a stupid way to compare what Edelman did for their historic run. Tyree's helmet catch was a historic moment, just a moment. Edelman had a historic run, culminating in an SB MVP. I don't mind if Edelman does not go into the HOF, i just cant stand guys like you who always undermine greatness just for the sake of stats, who ultimately puts more weight in meaningless stats and pro bowls than meaningful moments and team success. For a team sport, what makes you a legend is all the things you do for the betterment of the team, not for the betterment of your pro bowl voting.
@@ReneParada “undermining greatness” im not. Hed actually have to have been all time great for me to do that. He was a very good postseason player who was pedestrian in every other aspect. He is not a hall of famer, and most Patriot partisans I know dont say he is either. Patriot ring of honor definitely.
He's Mazel-Tough
He'll be in a Buccaneer's uniform before Summer is over.
His knee is shot, guys. He's not playing in Tampa. Knock it off.
He’ll be in the Bucs
If anyone says Edelman, is not a Hall of Famer they do not football. He is 100% a Hall of Famer.
Joins Tampa in 3...2...1...
Jules=Warrior
Tom Brady could throw to me, doesn't mean I can catch it. Edelman belongs in Canton.
Dont forget, Edelman returned punts!
Over a career with the accolades he should be a hof'er. I think they still cap a career at 13plus yrs. Players aren't playing that long any more. So 10+ should be the new cut. I mean atleast he's a top 40wr all time! 3/4 ballot
He will also go down as the best Jewish Athlete (and we don't have much) of all time in my opinion and a true representative of the community. Sad to see him hanging it up
Julian should be in hall of fame
If TB12 would've targeted clutch Edelman instead of Welker in Super Bowl XLVI the Pats would've won.
Why are people acting like he's jerry rice? He was a average receiver at best. He's a slot receiver. Not a number one receiver. Not even a number two receiver. Ive never seen a barely average player get so much attention.
He is retiring from the Patriots not from the NFL
Tbow should've done that
2 time super bowl champ 1 time super bowl mvp. 4 time pro bowler 1 time all pro . Yeah HINES WARDS SHOULD BE IN THE HOF! NOT Edelman. Hines even doubled in his receptions his yards and his touchdowns...
I can almost guarantee that Jules would have ended up in Tampa if he was 5 years younger.
Let's say you are Julian and God gives you a chance to go back and do it all over again. He tells you to decide whether you want great regular season numbers, or what you did with NE. Is there that much to decide?
Edelman was money 💰💲!!!!!! In the deepest crucial times of the game, wether in regular season, playoff and in super bowls, he was just clutch. A worrior!!!!!!! That's that....
Julien going to Tampa bay next year
No he’s not he’s older with bad knees and doesn’t have the talent gronk had
I hope that’s sarcasm. All the casuals keep saying that. His knee is gone; he’s done. Stfu.
Not if his reasons for retirement are legit.
No Chance
The Buccaneers should sign both Amendola and Edelman..fk it y not?
In another other sport lets just say NBA for example you have people saying yeah but he doesn't do it in the play offs, he cant win a Championship when they talk about players like Embiid or Harden but with Julian they go the other way when people bring up HoF and start talking about regular season numbers 😂if a guy has just retired and this is the first talking point then the answer is already there in my opinion
People that say that Edelman had the GOAT Jerry Rice had Montana, so are you going to ding him for that as well?
Hey Rich look at Wes Welkers stats compared to Edelman. Welker is much better. It’s not even close when you compare Welker 6 years against Edelman best 6 years in NE. Maybe Wes should be in the hall of fame ?
Julian Edelman is the greatest clutch player.
He AINT NO HALL OF FAMER ! PERIOD !
Hell of a player. FF
Edelman is a Hall of Famer
HE IS A HALL OF FAMER. I hope he goes to the Bucks, I have shed too many tears with news of his retirement.
Answer this question RUclips comment people.... If Edelman goes to the cowboys or the browns or the jaguars is he who he is today.... I'll answer for u HELL NO!
He was a very good, sometimes great, WR, but is not a HOF player.
do the words foxboro forever mean anything for you?
A clutch player....2nd WR only to the GOAT Swan. Not shabby.
Julian Edelman is second behind Jerry Rice in the playoffs not Lynn Swann
