Great stories, Janna! I love your free-talking travel videos; especially the ones about Bulgaria/Russia. The first time I ever had experience with a Russian person I was 19 years old and in US Marine Corps recruit training. My bunk mate was an older Russian guy with a very thick accent but very friendly. I asked him one day how it was like to live in the USSR during the Cold War, and explained to him how we (in the US) were always so afraid of a nuclear war happening. He laughed and told me that Russian people were too concerned with where their next meal was coming from than to be concerned with nuclear war....perspective, right? Interesting to hear your perspective having lived as a regular kid in the USSR. You should have put a bright desk lamp shining in your face to set the mood, LOL.
when you said you got a movie player and saw movies... i thought you were going to say "sound of music" "wizard of oz" "gone with the wind"..... nope.... TERMINATOR! 😁😂 A REAL Classic! One of my favorites ever! Those 80's action movies were/are great! thank you for sharing your stories, the pictures and everything, very nice of you. Its amazing... during that time you were a kid in 80s and what they taught you and here we were constantly taught how russia was the enemy full of bad people like Ivan Drago! During school we often had drills, in case of nuclear attack and we were taught to hide under our desk (of course nobody told us about radiation poisoning) but pretty much that our desk would totally protect us 🤣 Meanwhile you were being taught to like everybody and be friendly to all! what a difference! maybe you can talk about the details behind day trading and how you started with that. thanks again for everything!

It is so interesting, you just talking about growing up in the USSR which for us in the States was always a mystery place. I know that you know about the United States because you were filming in one of my favorite places, St Augustine, Florida. I hope you do some more sit-downs like this and just converse. Great Video!!

It was cultural shock I have to say when we found out about life in America, everyone was dreaming to move there 🙂

Thanks for sharing your interesting past. I now know why you visited Florida, eventually, I guess. Good to learn that you had a happy childhood in USSR. Interesting to learn that we each had a certain amount of propaganda pushed on us. I personally never believed that the ussr was so bad, at least after Stalin. Most Americans probably, to this day, really have little knowledge about Soviet and Russian 20th century history.
I've only watched 2 of your videos but really enjoy them. These firsthand, authentic glimpses into your life are fascinating. What an amazing life you have had- so many big changes! But you have dealt with everything very well and seem genuinely happy. I'm guessing much of that is because you had two wonderful parents. If a child is fortunate enough to have caring parents, they can handle most anything. Westerners can learn much from people like yourself. For example, I do not detect any sense of "entitlement" in you; something very common in the West. I look forward to watching many more of your videos. Bolshoy spasibo! ☺

Probably what brought down the USSR and affiliate countries we're those western movies of life outside the country. People inside the USSR could see the higher standard of living. I watched a documentary about the Black market movie business in Romania that eventually led to the discontent and over throw of the Ceausescu regime. I think it was on netflix and may bring back some memories.

It's terrible you guys had to go through that terrible time when your economy collapsed and had to stand in line to get the essentials. I can't imagine how tough that had to be. But it's nice to know your family got through it.👍 I like the posters. They look very cool. I've never seen posters from the USSR era before. But I couldn't make out which one is you in the picture with your classmates😄

London is also known as ‘Londongrad’ or ‘Moscow on the Thames’; Russian media call it ‘Russia’s premier city abroad’. So the world is not bounded anymore by "geographical limits to the particular countries or communities. Human society is broader than in the Middle Age, and the world tendency is towards one state of human society.
@@JannaTravels Yes can find something and some people good in every country. I was in Vietnam when the pandemic hit and forced me to go to Cambodia and wait to return to USA. As soon as I get the vaccine and countries open with longer stays I will return to my travels. Right now 14 days in quarantine is not my cup of tea.

I think it is because people need they own space, if everyone would have a nice house or good flat, then it would last forever :)
It ended because there wasn’t any more money to borrow to support the broken economy.
