As an aside Aussies are seen as hard partyers because we live in a country that is focused on fairness and a fair go rather than getting ahead so many of us are just enjoy the moment because we can. As such we tend not to take things so seriously until we have to then we get Canadian WWII kind of serious and then back to the party.

I think one of our better qualities in Australia are we can laugh at each other and ourselves when we do something dumb and hurt ourselves, and we don’t get all whiny and indignant about it. A lot of other countries seem to be like “oh don’t laugh what if they got hurt? Or don’t laugh at me you’re a jerk!”. Joel most swooping birds only have a go in spring when they are nesting. Magpies are the worst. The tip of the beak is quite sharp. They are black and white. That wasn't a dingo it was a fox. The poms gave us two gifts in the name of their hunting fetish. Foxes and rabbits. Both liked the climate here more than the UK and bred to ridiculous numbers. Those black things were probably cockroaches not spiders.

Typical Australia is gathering around the old fashioned Hills Hoist Clothesline in the backyard with Wine bags tied to each outside corner and playing Goon of Fortune (after old TV show called Wheel of Fortune). Everyone gathers around the hoist and gives it a spin, whoever the 4 corners stop at have to reach up to the plug and pour 1-3 seconds worth of wine into their mouth below.
Needless to say everyone gets pretty smashed within the hour pretty quickly.

There's a reason why I don't partake in outdoor activities, unlike most other Aussies. Oh, and never, ever get close to wildlife: they are unpredictable. You never know when they'll bite your finger off, or worse.
That last clip reminded me of the last time I ever played cricket. I was bowling what was to be my last ever ball, and badly misdirected it. The guy at silly mid-on caught it straight out of my hand. The batsman waved at me and said, "hey, I'm over here!"

    • @jessbellis9510

It honestly depends if they're likely to see you as a threat or not. My mum (who is short and skinny) was on a trail when she saw movement to her left and a massive male roo was in the bushes right next to her, just watching. She wanted my dad to see and so called him, and as soon as the roo saw my dad it immediately went into posturing/territorial mode. As a kid we were caravanning in QLD rainforest area and stopped by the side of the road for lunch. A cassowary and her 3 chicks walked out into the little clearing we were in and just stood there, even when we got up and had to walk by them to get back to the caravan. I think the greatest advice for anyone planning to explore Australia is "Don't bother it and it won't bother you."
Except for salt water crocs, which will watch and hunt you.

    World War III, broke out.
He made a v-line to the fridge.
Crawled up it's side - flattened itself out and spread it's legs out to make it look big. And just looked at me.
New unit, new build. No entry point except bathroom exhaust fan.
    No food source.
I tried to get him outside
    Tried to capture him
Couldn't go to sleep with him inside.
Had to spray him out, so I could get some sleep.
    Under the fridge.

Don't know wether he survived ?
Some, still do - I have seen it.

Australia has a climate where mosquitoes thrive so it makes sense we have many spider’s to eat them. Although they look frightening most are harmless. The mosquitoes are more of a threat as they carry disease. So my philosophy is if the spider is not a threat to you then leave it be or if you have the courage take it for a walk outside. It will do more good than harm😊

If I were there I would be terrified that at any moment I would be confronted by spiders (which I can't get used to) or snakes. That said, I loved the video. Too funny. Hope you have a great day! Hit the 7:40 mark and watched the goanna(monitor) latch on. Was lucky it let go. My brother had his finger trapped by a pygmy monitor years ago. Took 20 minutes , 2 pairs of pliers worked by 2 people to remove his finger from its jaws. He was lucky it grabbed from the top and didn't slice the tendons. They also have some pretty nasty bacteria in their mouths. The goanna was released after checking for damage. My Brother is scarred to this day:)

At least their mouths aren't as disgusting as Komodo dragons - even if they let go you're still likely to have to amputate the limb if you aren't extremely quick with emergency medical attention.

With some of these compilation videos of Australia, there's usually one or two featuring spiders. Mostly I think because it is fairly much guaranteed to get a reaction. If you don't live in Australia this can give you a false impression,..... almost as If everywhere you turn, you'll likely to encounter heaps of spiders. This is not the case. Admittedly I live in Tasmania, the southern most island state of Australia. I don't particularly like spiders that much either, but the amount of impact that spiders have on my day to day life is pretty much non existent.
I guess what I'm saying is don't let these videos featuring spiders put you off coming to Australia. Also most spiders are reasonably small and harmless. That's not saying we don't have some of the deadliest spiders in the world but you only have a 1 in 12,500 chance of being bitten by a spider in a year, and even if you do, not necessarily by one of the really venomous ones.
The reality is most people in Australia will never get bitten by a spider in their lifetimes. I've never been bitten by a spider but I have been bitten on more than one occasion by Jack Jumper 🐜's.

    • @jessbellis9510
      @jessbellis9510 Год назад

Depends on where in Australia you live for sure. Anywhere near the bush you're bound to get spiders near or in your house. We've got a bush reserve out back and no matter what the spiders are eventually going to get in. Thankfully since I'm in WA we don't have to worry about the big venomous ones like in NSW. We get mostly redbacks, white tails, black house spiders, daddy long legs and the occasional huntsman.
