I can't believe people are still surprised that Eddie Murphy can sing, he sings in all the Shrek movies as donkey and you can tell he has a good singing voice
Check out his reggae album from a few years back. It will change your opinion on whether or not he can sing. Here's a taste for you ruclips.net/video/5ghGChEFmXo/видео.html
I don't think younger folks today, who know who Eddie Murphy is, realize just how big of a star he was back in the day! He was a TV star, he had a bunch of hit movies, and he was one of the biggest stand up comedians in the world. And this was a collaboration with Rick James to get him into the recording industry. So he was a superstar for me growing up. Especially his stand up shows Delirious and Raw. Some of the best stand up comedy shows ever.
Eddie Murphy is one of the most talented people on the planet. A truly amazing performer in every way. I always saw this song as a companion piece to Rick James "Super Freak".
@@KneeJerkReactions13 Well last time I checked, I think we can all have our opinions. Rick James was cheesy quite frequently throughout his career, and that was just part of who he was. The video is a must watch because they can see who is doing backup vocals and the fact that RJ produced it. The video is also a great memory from my childhood. Perhaps it is you who should reign in your opinion, since you were so quick to tell me I was wrong.
Eddie Murphy is so talented , an actor, comedian and wow he can sing great , and this song was such a hit. the man can do voice overs and just a joy to watch and ,listen too , he blessed with many talents
Rick James, the deeper-sounding voice in the song, has a song called Super Freak that was very popular in the early '80s. During Eddie Murphy's standup comedy acts in the early eighties, he would sing a bit as part of his comedy skit (making fun of Elvis) and he had a good singing voice.
When I was in high school we used to pass around a tape with “Wienie Whistler” by Bobby Jimmy. We were all convinced it was Eddie Murphy rapping. It sounds exactly like him doing a funny voice. It turns out it was a radio DJ and Dr. Dre. I still like to think it’s Eddie Murphy. The humor was just like his, anyway.
Haha ye I loved this tune with Rick James for years, but I'd never actually heard that other one until very recently, I was watching Dimitri from Paris doing a DJ set on youtube and he randomly dropped that in the middle of it. I knew it was Eddie's voice instantly and I thought it was pretty funky but was only half listening to it in the background really and then I started properly listening to the lyrics and was just like what in the actual f*ck is Eddie on about! It is catchy though.
In this episode of Brad & Lex & Berto, Berto leads us in with his "metronome bop". Lex labels the 80,s pop track "sad" but still relinquishes an inquisitive frontal "bobble bop" while Brad offers us an impressed, steady signature "side to side sway".
When I first heard that Eddie Murphy had made a recording (some years back) I must admit I thought hell no - but then I heard it ... and loved it. Eddie is a comedy genius but also an all round very talented man
"Poor Eddie"? It amazes me how they think when a song is sung by someone that it is autobiographical. Sometimes bands/singers (songwriters) write songs about common, relatable life experiences.
This is where the Rick James and Eddie Murphy connection comes from, Rick produced this song with eddie, Charlie is Chilling in the Background of the music video.
this was the time when everyone thought they could make a Music Video and it would go viral. even the Chicago Bears made a MV - Superbowl suffle. lol enjoy the 80s craziness,
Okay, I love Eddie Murphy and he can sing, but his "music career" was short lived for good reason! 😂 He's been roasted so hard over this, over the years 🤣😂 It's okay, you can say it's bad, cuz it was!
@@missliss2581able also did a song with Snoop Dog(lion) at the time doing a Jamaican sounding song, sounds real good also. I think it's called Red Light.
As with the rest of the world they, were all awe struck by the sound of Eddie's vocals. None of us expected him to sound like that. This was a dance classic back in the day!
Its crazy how this is one of the greatest songs of the 80s and it came about because richard pryor bet eddie $100k that he couldnt sing. Eddie told rick james and rick wrote and produced the song and sang backup vocals.
This song was pretty much considered a joke when it came out. I wonder how many people are like me and liked it but kept it under wraps. It was on MTV a lot, so someone had to like it. He referenced it a few times in his stand-up. His sets often included his relationship problems and it led people to winder "is this the party all the time girl?" And "That Voice!" is none other than Super Freak singer Rick James. If you watch the old Chappelle show Eddie's brother was on the show and would tell stories about people like Rick James and Prince.
You NEED to see the original video ^^ As other said, the song is produced by Rick "Superfreak" James who also sing the background vocals and the end of the song ^^ Anyway, Eddie roxx ^^
I can't believe people are still surprised that Eddie Murphy can sing, he sings in all the Shrek movies as donkey and you can tell he has a good singing voice
Eddie Murphy was nominated for an Oscar and won a Screen Actors Guild award for his role in "Dream girls."
...and he did his own singing.
Plus he sings a little in Trading Places, thought he sounded good in that little scene!
Check out his reggae album from a few years back. It will change your opinion on whether or not he can sing. Here's a taste for you ruclips.net/video/5ghGChEFmXo/видео.html
He sucks. Just no feeling at all.
its so funny I never knew he sang this song, what a classic!
As a guy growing up in the '80s Eddie is a legend for being a comedian giving us "Raw"and "Delirious"!!!
Same here
Who doesn't love Eddie talking about "The Cookout"? With Aunt Bunny and her mustache? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Agreed, goonie goo goo!
Eddie also invented the Jimmy Carr laugh!
Help lord Jesus christ oh lord... My Shoe!!!

I relate a lot to this. Plus he had the greats support, almost every great comedian (besides Cosby... weird how that went) supported him.
Somewhat "younger folk" here. We know who he is and know he's a legend. He's just not really talked about much.
The man can write jokes
Impersonate celebrities and can sing.
Gotta love Eddie Murphy
Eddie Murphy is one of the most talented people on the planet. A truly amazing performer in every way. I always saw this song as a companion piece to Rick James "Super Freak".
Rick James as others said produced, and sang backing vocals. You should check out Ricks "Super Freak".
They can't touch this. LMAO
Which makes it great when you go back and watch Charlie Murphy's True Hollywood stories with Rick James.
This came out when Eddie was at the height of his fame and he could pretty much do anything. He'll always be Beverly Hills Cop to me.
He could still do pretty much anything he wants haha. He's Eddie Murphy
He's Gumby damnit!
I can still hear him laugh 😂
Thanks to your comment I’m gonna go rewatch all the Beverly Hills Cop movies!
The video is a must watch!! Classic 80's. Eddie Murphy could do NO WRONG in the 80's. And he can sing.

@@KneeJerkReactions13 Rick James is iconic, period. That he is unintentionally hilarious at the same time doesn't change that.
They didn’t even do the right video. Because this isn’t the music video.

Murphy had a good singing voice.... I liked it.
2 words describe Eddie Murphy ( THE GOAT)
LMAO 😆😂😆!!! He's just looking for sloppy seconds"! Good one Brad! 😎☮️
Trading places absolutely one of the best comedy movies ever made...Eddie Murphy.
🤣
Yes and Eddie learned from this to stick to comedy acting.

True lol
I love this song always have to sing it when I hear it
SUCH A TUNE
If you want to hear a silly song that Eddie Murphy did, check out "Boogie in your butt"
Put a nickel in your butt! Sure do tickle in your butt! Ha! HILARIOUS!!!

I love love this song always have. And love Eddie Murphy. 61 years old now. And still love it. Thanks guys.
Let's not forget Rick James!!! He's the deep voice on the music.
On his first comedy album (vinyl record) the last track was a song called Boogie in your butt, it's like rapish humor, yes it's true lol
BEST ONE HIT WONDER EVER!!!!!! MIC DROP!!!!!
Eddie Murphy and Rick James, Very Underrated 80s Song
That nasty groove with the obvious Rick James sharing the vocals. LOL
You gotta watch the video to this 🤣🤣🤣🤣 pure gold
80s clap machine in full effect
Oh.... I have heard this before...... I did NOT know it was Eddie Murphy 😳.
In this episode of Brad & Lex & Berto, Berto leads us in with his "metronome bop". Lex labels the 80,s pop track "sad" but still relinquishes an inquisitive frontal "bobble bop" while Brad offers us an impressed, steady signature "side to side sway".
Perfect summary 😂
This song was written and produced by Rick James, who was also the other voice featured in the song.
When this came out, my friends used sing "My girl eats at Hardee's all the time..."
At my elementary school, the alternative lyrics were “my girl wants to potty all the time” 🚽
When I first heard that Eddie Murphy had made a recording (some years back) I must admit I thought hell no - but then I heard it ... and loved it. Eddie is a comedy genius but also an all round very talented man
You really need to watch the Official Video!
Continental Championship Wrestling and Pro wrestling this week used this song ad their intro in late '80s
Just goes to show how multi talented Eddie is. The guy can do anything.
Need to go back and watch the original video,Rick James singing backup
Very brief time in the 80s when comedians tried singing too! Remember "Rappin' Rodney"
Never in my entire life have I heard someone say "you need to listen to that Eddie Murphy album" unless they're talking about Raw or Delirious 😅
Eddie Murphy with Rick James great song.
Beautiful song!🕺🔥
THIS IS A BANGER!!
"Poor Eddie"? It amazes me how they think when a song is sung by someone that it is autobiographical.
Sometimes bands/singers (songwriters) write songs about common, relatable life experiences.
Lol. Hilarious reaction!!!!!!!
Eddie could imitate Michael Jackson, Elvis, Rick James, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder's singing styles and voices to a tee.
Hard to now remember just how massive he was in the 80s
If you knew how big of a deal Rick James was we'd mention his collaboration 😁
My mom loved to rock to this song. She was a redhead in her green sheath dress and her 3" pumps (a sign of the times).
This is where the Rick James and Eddie Murphy connection comes from, Rick produced this song with eddie, Charlie is Chilling in the Background of the music video.
Eddie has a lot of great songs...You guys will love his songs.
It was the 80s and blow was the drug of choice
this was the time when everyone thought they could make a Music Video and it would go viral. even the Chicago Bears made a MV - Superbowl suffle. lol enjoy the 80s craziness,
I remember watching this cool song/video, on MTV back in the 80's, when MTV was actually cool.
Eddie's music career did not pan out but I think he's doing alright. .
Haha I have heard this chorus before, never knew it was Eddie Murphy tho lol, awesome.
All I can say is Eddie, as a singer you are a great comedian.
Please better than today's shit
Listening to this, i'm just picturing Charlie Murphy and Prince dancing in the background.
This song is a underrated banger! The chorus is so solid!
Rick put the stank on this one for Eddie.
Okay, I love Eddie Murphy and he can sing, but his "music career" was short lived for good reason! 😂 He's been roasted so hard over this, over the years 🤣😂 It's okay, you can say it's bad, cuz it was!
Wth this song is great
This song made it to #2 on the Billboard charts & stayed there for quite a while.
He prob couldn't do much else after this.
@@hengineer he had a song ft Michael jackson in the 90s that did pretty well too. I think he’s fine with his career trajectory
@@missliss2581able also did a song with Snoop Dog(lion) at the time doing a Jamaican sounding song, sounds real good also. I think it's called Red Light.
Eddie Murphy can do anything that’s how talented is. And he still has it. I hope you guys can check out his skit from SNL where he’s a elf.
LOL…Proper Brad said “Sloppy Seconds”.
Classic 80s. Beverly Hills Cops’ beat.
This came out during that window of the 80s when Eddie was the biggest thing in the world and everything he did worked - even pop music.
I tried teaching myself to scratch with this song when I was 12.
Peak 80s nostalgia here
Ya, back in the 80s everyone thought they could sing lol... Patrick Swayze, Don Johnson, Eddie Murphy...
Eddy is The Man:) I must have watched Beverly Hills Cop Original about 20 times::)) Love this song.
It’s a Rick James production and that’s Rick singing back up vocals.
As with the rest of the world they, were all awe struck by the sound of Eddie's vocals. None of us expected him to sound like that. This was a dance classic back in the day!
The album was produced by Rick James, who also cowrote this song. He also plays bass and does backing vocals on this track.
Aaaaah the 80's in all it's gloriousness. A time when anything went in music and "fashion" comedians could come out with party songs. LMAO.
The mastery of Rick James is behind this... you should do some Rick James busting out of L7 lol
Eddie Murphy is an absolute legend! I never would have thought he'd do a kid's movie. Especially after hearing Boogie In Your Butt! I 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh man! You really need to watch the MTV video w/this! I know it's hard to believe Eddie Murphy sang this but yep, it happened!
Its crazy how this is one of the greatest songs of the 80s and it came about because richard pryor bet eddie $100k that he couldnt sing. Eddie told rick james and rick wrote and produced the song and sang backup vocals.
I forgot that Rick James added so much to this song "she likes to par-ty all the time". This was a big hit back in the late 80s.
"He's talking 'MY girl' ... that's not YOUR girl, that's EVERYONE'S girl" 🤣

You should watch the official video so you can see how Rick James reacts to Eddie singing in the booth. Classic for sure!
I've heard that song a bunch, but never paid attention to the lyrics before...wow.
Can't blame Eddie for cashing in.
You NEED to see the original video ^^
As other said, the song is produced by Rick "Superfreak" James who also sing the background vocals and the end of the song ^^
Anyway, Eddie roxx ^^
🤣🤣3: 21 He just wants Sloppy seconds 🤣🤣
I had this on cassette, when it came out.
The video brings it home…..
Rick James, featuring Eddie Murphy.....
Eddie singing a Simp anthem back in the 80's
Yo the actual video to this is hilarious. Rick James was feeling it on this one lol.
Rick James wrote this. IMHO it gets really good towards the end when he joins in
another fun song by Eddie ... put your mouth on me....classic funky sound
let's not leave out the legend Rick James is the back ups & wrote the song he & Eddie were great friends
Kim Commando uses this constantly on her radio show
This song was a joke. If you watch Charlie Murphy and Rick James talk about this song this song came about because Eddie was making fun of Rick James.
There are TWO singers in this song LEX!! Who is the other? Rick James. Super Freak remember? He also wrote and produced this song.
You gotta see the video for this hahahahaa.
There’s an actual video of him singing this song. Rick James does some background vocals
great song!
You guys have to do Eddie Murphy - Boogie In Your Butt. It was a favorite of me and my friends back in High School.
Dr. Demento was where I first heard that
I came here to suggest the same. It's so stupid, in a good way.
Fun fact.. Boogie in Your Butt .. on the "B" was also "Boogie in Your Butt" song so good they put it on both sides :P
I just listened to for the first time in years and its still good.
Eddie Murphy was in the movie "Dreamgirls." Check him out singing Jimmy Got Soul.
Eddie Murphy to me is SNL. He was so cool. I miss watching the old SNL cast. Hot Tub. Lol.
Eddie did his thang! Sing it Rick!
