I used to work in various recording studios fixing gear. The story I heard was that Richard Pryor bet Eddie 1 Million that he couldn't sing. The recording studio they are in is in Rick James' home.

Do you know the movie "Dreamgirls" (2006)? Eddie Murphy can saaaaang, it is about the Supremes in the sixties with Beyocé playing Diana Ross and Jennifer Hudson winning an Oscar for supporting actress in 2007 ....the movie won several awards and just is great

I bought the album when it came out (1985) and theres actually a couple good songs on it, theres one with stevie wonder i think. Apparently this all came about because of a bet with Richard Pryor and Eddie but ya Eddie can sing. I got to see him on his RAW tour he is funny as hell!
