Very nice video. Well put together. Only one thing - different affixes on the weapon stack additively not multiplicatively. So the damage from weapon with 100 base damage with poison and bleed affixes will be 240 damage. It even says on the affix itself "+60%". So it's 60% of base weapon damage
@17400 Thank you so much for the comment and feedback! I had always thought damage was multiplicative but wanted to make sure before posting this video. When I was doing research for the video I saw some folks say damage was additive and some multiplicative, but the only actual proof of either that I found was a video of someone using a Lightning Bolt that had two +100% damage modifiers on it which was compared against a regular LB. The double +100% did 4x damage (multiplicative) instead of 3x (additive). There's a little bit of discussion about it along with the thread that has the video here: www.reddit.com/r/deadcells/comments/vls5ci/guys_does_damage_multiply_or_get_summed_like_80/ Back in 1.8 items could get a ton of +% affixes - I remember them being called "rainbow" affixes since basically every status at the time was able to be rolled at once. My understanding is that in 1.9/Update of Plenty Evil Empire tweaked weapon affixes to avoid having so many modifiers on main items to lessen from the amount of extra multiplicative damage since that was a way to basically steamroll the game, especially with things like Hokuto's and fire/poison/bleed DOT affixes/modifiers. I'm pretty sure that's also why Grappling Hook and Smoke Bomb's extra damage % and how they stack were nerfed since the way it was calculating was bugged and totally out of hand. I do know that extra damage taken is additive, so if you have two items that do double damage the total is +200% and not +400%. It's totally possible that Evil Empire changed some coding when they reworked DOT so damage bonuses are now additive but that wasn't always the case (the video above is from 1.0). Or maybe there are some damage bonuses that are additive and others are multiplicative? If there is any footage or breakdowns out there that show additive damage for bonus +% I haven't seen it, but would love to since that's crucial info in the video! If that's the case I'll post a separate video update to point out the error but would want to see some data either from coding or other footage that confirms it first. Thank you for the comment and the support, and for bringing this up!
@@DisappointedGiant No worries bro. I'm glad to help. Well before posting a comment I also decided to check if it's true and found on wiki that it's additive, although there was no direct mention of how damage stack. So then I went to the training room and recreated it myself with shovel with synergies, without and a corrosive cloud. Numbers were correct
@@17400 That's wild. Thank you for checking that out. I wonder how that old Lightning Bolt video had multiplicative damage? Maybe affixes are additive and some other bonuses (double damage, Corrupted Power) are multiplicative? Either way, much appreciated here. Even if the numbers are off hopefully this video will still bring the beauty of Face Flask to the masses. I'm going to pin your comment since it's important for folks to know. I'll do better next time! :D
I'm surprised this is only your first tutorial style video, it explained things about the game I never knew about in great detail while still feeling perfectly comprehensible. you're going places, man
Man, this is an awesome video right there! I've been trying to understand the value of the flask and what's all the fuss is about for quite some time now and finally I got it, thanks dude.
!The moment I picked up this item I immediately had the neuron activation. It has bow became a staple in almost all of my brutality builds. You can absolutely shred everything with the right build. Also nice video, keep up the great work
When Face Flask first hit it also gave rally bonuses to regain HP so when they nerfed that I was like... oh. And then the gears clicked and I was like... OH. I'm glad to hear that your brain picked up on this right from the get go and that you've been enjoying the skill! It's such a niche and weird item, I love it.
Hi folks! After editing this video I noticed a few errors in my script and setup that I want to address here. 1.) Face Flask can actually only have three total status-related affixes and I’m not sure if it can cover the ground in burning oil (just “burns the ground around you”). This is discussed at 4:38. I think I based this off of an earlier iteration of the item that was more busted than it is now, or just got carried away while I was writing the script. 2.) During the Hand of the King footage while I’m talking about Vengeance (6:19) I accidentally say the word “additive” while talking about exxtra damage when I meant to say “multiplicative”. 3.) When I was in the Training Room I didn’t drop my scroll count down for the Conjunctivius fight so the damage chunks you’re seeing in those clips are based on a higher scroll count than what’s normal for the fight on 4/5BC (~14-18 scrolls). It looks cool but I can’t take credit for all that damage.
all throughout the video I was thinking, "this reminds me of a music/gear channel," and after reading the description it all makes sense. Great video, nice pacing, and if it wasn't obvious; Killer music!! I look forward to future Dead Cells and Music Content!
I gotta say, it was a very good video, interesting and easy to understand. It's very good you noticed the mistakes in it, for a first tutorial I think it was pretty awsome
im playing dead cells recently and i had the same reaction you described when i saw face flask for the first time then i got my first boss cell and i thought to myself "hey maybe i should search for dead cell weapons tier lists!" and then i saw face flask on S TIER and i was completely FLABBERGASTED anyways, great video bro! face flask seems really good. i will try to do a build with it at the late game (with more boss cells i guess)
Even better with a legendary flask. I remember getting it in my 3bc run and it made me invincible between cooldowns (+70% extra hp) while hitting like a truck WITHOUT vengeance.
If you think Face Flask is amazing now, the release version was so broken they had to nerf it after a week, it used to provide HEALING, it was braindead easy to sustain.
Oh yeah, I remember that! It was even more busted back then. IIRC it used to grant a big chunk of recovery so it was easy to get life back every 10 seconds.
Also you used to be able to heal that tiny amount damage back with the correct mutations due to the recovery mechanics and how face flask gives yay more recovery than damage
Great video, i think you have a lot of potencial in the youtube place. Personally i think you can defenetly get to "psyche" level. I'm talking about the youtuber
It's a rare drop from the Buzzcutter enemy (the flying bug looking enemies in the Ramparts). Your best bet would be to take the Hunter's Grenade to get it since the blueprint rarely pops on its own.
@@stormsgg You're welcome! You don't need the mirror, you can just take the Hunter's Grenade to the Ramparts. Buzzcutters will be there on any BC level.
2BC is a big jump up from 1BC, so I hear that! The double cells are great but it also feels like double the pain. What kinds of builds and mutations are you using? What quality level is your Forge?
Update: I BEAT BC2 WOOOOO YEAHHHHHH Had 5 20 6 stats, used marksman bow and soldier's bow (i think, its that short range bow that crits) With face flask and wolf trap Mutations were armadillopack vengeance and extended healing
Face Flask does a small amount of damage to you and can grant some status affixes (poison cloud, electrocute enemies, etc.). It's a great way to get extra damage with Vengeance and Spite Sword or to get easy status synergies. It's free to unlock, too! deadcells.wiki.gg/wiki/Face_Flask
