Yes! Parrying with Armadillopack triggers any parry mutations. I thought put this in the script but looks like I left it out. Thanks for the question, pinning this so other folks can see it too.
You may not see this but I think a video about every single blueprint in the secret rooms going through each level would be beneficial to me and other beginners. I can’t count how many times I’ve gone through the slumbering sanctuary without realising the masochist blueprint was in there. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the comment and suggestion! That's a great idea. I've gone through a few of them in other videos but having them all in one place would be good for reference. I'm going to put this on my list!
@@rightfulkingbob6753 My next tier list is going to be grenades/traps and I'm still deciding on the next scripted video. I have rough outlines for an early game synergy video and another for off-color items, as well as a DLC guide (which I might just do as a live stream). Your puzzle blueprint suggestion is enticing, though!
I suck at parrys specially (I suck overall), but I always try to have the armadillo perk. The only runs that I'dont use the armadillo I use the arrow backpack with the thunder. Love your channel dude, only dead cells, the explanations and the handmade music. I wish there will be more niche channels like yours.
I've been recently trying to get better with shields so this is perfect. I'm going to watch the shield tier list after. I enjoyed the other tier list videos. I never knew about the festering zombie to get biters!😮
I remember trying armadillopack to learn parry timings and nuking every enemy that shoots bombs, in general armadillopack is a nice mutation for learning and when you dont have space for a shield. Nice video and keep up.
I've been playing Dead Cells for a while now, but I've just been encouraged to watch videos about the game itself. Looking between the days, I came across your channel. even though I'm Latino and on top of that I write this from Google's autocorrect, I must admit that with the little among the much I've seen here.. I love your channel!
thank you so much for this vid 😭 i only recently started watching vids and learning about certain builds, for like the past year or so i've been playing without any care for it, now that i know how parrying works, i think that'd be useful. i used to despise shields, maybe its time to change that. thanks mate!
Keeping a shield in my offhand slot is just as important, if not more important than my main DPS weapon in any of my runs. Parrying was difficult to learn at first, but it has paid off in spades. This has actually backfired on me in some ways since I literally cannot play this game without a shield anymore. It is just so handy to have one at all times.
Recently found your content and I have to admit it's become my favorite on the entire platform. Reminds me of the old WildStar DevSpeaks and I can't help but feel nostalgic every time I click on a "new" video of yours. Don't quit anytime soon!
I have a love hate relationship with shields. I want to get better with them, so I take them for practice... then mess up a parry somewhere and my run gets pretty decimated from that. So then I wonder "why am I not just running a full offensive build and just roll instead". Hence why I have a love-LOVE relationship with armadillo pack lol, cuz my rolls are just way beefier
Bro, awesome content as always, but I have a question, could you please tell me in what key/mode do you compose your songs? Specially the chill guitar one, cause it sounds so good, and reminds me of a lot of japanese games soundtracks
Thank you! I usually have my guitar tuned a whole step down and then I drop the bottom string down to C. I have a habit of brainstorming riffs using the open low string since I've been playing drop for so long, so most of them are in C. I don't purposely write using a specific mode, I just jam until something sounds cool and then I record it.
Assault Shield makes it hard to choose any other shield or a 2-handed weapon. It's just too good to pass up, since it improves overall movement so much.
I have a few other songs in the works that I'm going to put into future videos, and my full band is in the process of recording our next album. That should be out later this year and the other songs will be in the videos over the next month or two.
I’m more of a brutality player so I don’t take shields that often cause I suck at parrying lol. I’m pretty comfortable with the brutality mutations, do you still recommend armadillo even if I could take a mutation like predator or melee that scales with my scrolls? I probably will for a few runs at least just to feel it out
Yeah! I still think Armadillopack is worth checking out to see if you like it, even if it's off color. I'm *pretty* sure that parries are counted as melee attacks (just like ground stomps) so you may actually find that rolling parries can trigger Predator or Melee if you're using those. I'm not 100% on that but I think that's the case.
I’m *okay* at parrying, but I sometimes find myself in a situation where I’m swarmed by 3 or more enemies, and their timing of attacks (and exclamation marks) is different. How do you navigate those situations?
Sometimes muscle memory will take over and I'll be able to parry in order but it's not easy since some enemies have follow-up attacks after the ! shows up. It's a bit easier to do if they're all facing the same direction but sometimes it's best to use a skill to try to de-escalate and re-engage when they're not swarming in.
my issue with parrying is that I am a darksouls player, and in dark souls parry frames are miles tighter than dead cells, so I am hardwired to always parry in the last second to make it register, why is that an issue, no1 I am restricting myself and less freedom in gameplay and a bit more straining, no2 I miss the parry a lot, like I parry too late sometimes which is annoying, most people miss due to early parries but I am missing due to late parries lol, I need to get used to it but it is difficult for some reason, also btw you didnt mention that having a shield will reduce your recovery which is important, so actually having a shield equipped without ever using it can be considered a con
Funny, I have the exact same problem - I get wrecked in From games trying to parry but don't have much trouble in Dead Cells. Just a timing thing on both sides of it! Good point about the recovery. I show it in the video and mention that folks should check out the Wiki for more info. ruclips.net/video/rTZYjQ5rXP8/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=329
You probably have an aspect active - those are the only things that prevent a boss cell from dropping. Next time you start a run, talk to the doctor and unequip it if you have one on! deadcells.wiki.gg/wiki/Aspects
You're severely overestimating how good armadillopack is. Taking it with a shield already in your off hand is just a complete waste of a perk. You could be using one of the numerous damage perks instead. It's real use cases are when you're using the primary weapon + secondary weapon combo. Things like nutcracker + ice blast, baseball bat + boy's etc. That's when you take armadillopack. Same goes for brutality and tactics. If you're not running these builds don't run armadillo Off handing shields is much better than armadillo because you don' have a cooldown. You can string quick parries and attacks inbetween enemy combos unlike armadillo which has a long recovery. There are so many overpowered mutations on survival that you really never want to be wasting a slot on something you don't need
I think "severely" is a bit strong of a word. I've gotten a ton of mileage out of Armadillopack and I personally enjoy doubling up on shields. Instead of trying to min/max or get a perfect build sometimes it's fun to be able to manually parry and get free parries when rolling, too. Sure, it shines with two handed builds - that's the whole point of it being introduced - but it's something I have fun with. Doubling up can also help new players have the option of manual or roll parries (the latter of which can save a run depending on what you parry through). You do you but I stand by what I said.
Nice! I've always wondered if armidillopack parries trigger what doesn't kill me healing?

god tier thumbnail fr
quite literally
accurate af, sir
this is still informative to me even at 400+ hours because I never knew you got instant biters after parrying their eggs :o
Pick up armadillo rarely?

I just found your channel, thanks for the great tips! I just reached BC5 (took me 110 hours) and need all the help I can get!
I see DG video, I click like. (and watch)
The music in these videos in these videos is always top tier, I was incredibly impressed to see it's your own. Keep up the amazing content man!
Thank you - I'm glad you've been enjoying the tunes!
Im a souls like lover and so dodging and spacing were more natural for me. So I LOVE armadillopack :D
Gave me so much information thank you❤

The only place i can think of that i block purposefully is when I've been grappled by the time keeper and she's about to hit me with that big attack
"how to parry video" proceeds to add a random clip of pogo-ing on an elite to death and he the elite enjoying it

I legit didn’t even know you could hold shields up.
I only use shield with armadillo pack.my hands shake during battles😢.
I'm glad the mutation is helpful for you!
❤
Any new music gonna be released soon love the band?

Off topic but you would be great as an audiobook reader
Appreciate the compliment, thank you! I've been thinking of using my videos as a demo reel for voiceover work. :)

I have defeated hand of the king over 5 times and I didn't get a single boss cell if you know why please tell me

now make a GoWR Shield guide and do the exact opposite swap from the thumbnail
That's actually hilarious
Okay... but why would you use the shield with more than one button as your title suggests?!
lol I had to write something catchy and that's what I came up with
1:35 how do you edit your stats?
You can do that in the training room so you can test out different builds and HP/damage.
first time playing this game it's so hard, how tf do I kill the purple dude with q shield
Best move is to roll through them and attack before they turn around

guys how to unlock backpack, i dont know how to unlock it
The Backpack will show up after you unlock 15 items from the Collector.
