You are one of my favorite people to watch on RUclips for great quick recipes. You're fun energetic and right to the point. Right up there with the pioneer woman! Much love from Pa ♥️
Lately whenever I make shepherds pie or even just brown ground beef, I add a tablespoon of better than bouillon beef & a big squirt of balsamic glaze! You wouldn’t believe how much it enhances both the flavor & the color of the meat! Your recipe is a great idea- thanks!
I substituted roast garlic & herb steak seasoning, corn, & a bell pepper. Used a can of cream of chicken cause that was all I had. Caroline! You've not disappointed me yet! Best hamburger casserole I've ever eaten. Keep em coming!
Really enjoy your recipes. Because they are simple and quick really helps a lot. My wife is undergoing chemo and radiation treatments and your dishes help me to pamper her some. Keep them coming.
I can't imagine anyone not liking onions, they add so much great flavor and they are really good for you too...another soup that would be good here is cheddar cheese soup. I like extra cheesiness.
!!! Greetings From Montréal, Québec, Canada !!! The way I saw this recipe, it reminded me of my mother's 'Shepherd Pie'. Since I come from a familly of 10 children, Mom did not want to pick-up pieces of meat and vegetable all over the floor, so she would MASH the potatoes then mix it all up with the mixture of Meat/Vegetables, cook it in the oven like you did (Without the cheese, it was not popular in the 60's) so it would hold all toghether in our plates and at the end, turn on the broil to brown the potatoes and it was just D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S with a THICK slice of CRUST BREAD ....I still do it that way and I am 62 yrs. old !!! Stay Healthy, Cheers !!!
Made this! Nailed it!! My giant cross country truck driving brother in law rolled through town two nights ago. Him and my husband devoured this. Super success!!!. I added frozen mixed veg because that's all I had. Will defo make this again. Dedicated Canadian fan up here Lady Catherine! Gonna see about that puff pastry cream cheese strawberry thing for this weekend. Was drooling my face off. Might have to be raspberries instead of strawbs though, ours aren't good up here yet. Summer though ....
I'm going through a bunch of these videos since I'm doing this for dinner tonight and one thing I keep seeing is a gray browned beef, I think a little kitchen bouquet could make the color a bit more appealing. I went with a mushroom base which gave me a little more color but went in another direction taste wise.
Oh, my gosh, this looks DELICIOUS! I'm going to make it!! It reminds me of one of my favorite recipes I got out of a little Pillsbury cookbook years ago. I thought you might like it. *♥* BOSTON CHOWDER CASSEROLE *♥* 1 cup milk, 1 can cream of celery soup, 4 cups frozen cubed hash brown potatoes, ¾ tsp salt, ¼ tsp garlic powder, 1/8 tsp pepper, 1 cup chopped celery, 1 med. chopped onion, 1 cup + (I like more) shredded Cheddar cheese, paprika, 1 pkg (12 oz.) frozen fish sticks.* * * Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix milk and soup in lg bowl. Stir in rest of ingredients except for fish sticks, cheese and paprika. Pour into ungreased 13x9x2 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with paprika and ½ cup of cheese. Bake uncovered 20 minutes. Arrange fish sticks on potato mixture. Bake uncovered another 20 minutes until fish sticks are crisp and brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Delicious
I think you're the only person I've seen that uses a meat chopper. I swear by one! You can make the meat chunks as big or small as you want them. One of my favorite utensils!! Subed the other day. Lots of regular, good, comfort foods you cook. Thank you!
My son LOVES those frozen potatoes! I didn't know I could add them to anything. Yes, I'm just learning. Thank you for making it so easy. I made this today. It's all gone.
I made this for supper tonight. I had a hard time finding it on your website. Maybe if you had a search bar. Fortunately, I have both of your cookbooks, so I was in business. Can’t wait to try it! It looked so good it bugged me until I did!
Hi Catherine, this is an oldie but goodie! I haven’t made it in quite awhile. Looks delish. I Purchased one of those meat choppers from Pampered Chef and love it. Enjoy your meal and have a great weekend, Dolores 🥰
That looks good. I’m gonna give it a try this week. I will probably use cream of mushroom soup and I’ll use the peas and carrots, but no corn. I agree with you cheddar makes it better, but I don’t mind shredding my own cheese. That’s the only difference. I’ll let you know once it comes out. By the way, I like those small frozen potatoes. Did you defrost them beforehand or did you put them from the freezer onto the baking dish?
My casserole is in the oven but I reviewed your vid n aaagghh I forgot the veggies I'm 57 yo man n love to cook n learn new recipes,,, oh well I'll serve veggies on the side but I got it in my head now,,, thank-you foe an additional pc of my brother n our weekly menu ,,, now RUN TO JESUS
OMGoodness I made this years ago and haven't made it since!! I'm pretty sure I've got all the ingredients already in the house!! I know what I'm making this weekend!! Yummy!! 😋
Hello! Another fan from PA.! Cold Sunday afternoon here, and just put the hamburger casserole in my oven for dinner tonight. Smells great! Love all of your recipes. Thanks, 👍
I did make this and made some homemade cornbread and it was as good as it looked my hubby the picky one said wow now that is so good he said we have to have this one day out of the week so I added it to my weekly meal planner. I ask him what do you give this 1 out of 10 he said a 12 so I will be doing this one every week..
I ordered one of those meat choppers, I have no idea how I have done without one all this time, they are pretty cheap to on Amazon. This looks like an awesome recipe, you have so many great recipes thank you for sharing with us.
I’ve yet to find a good easy hamburger potato casserole recipe, but this one may be it. I went to your website and downloaded the recipe. I did notice on your web page that it calls for 1/2 lb ground beef. I know it should read 1-1 /2 lbs. I just thought I would mention it so you could change it.🙂 Thanks for another simple, delicious recipe!
Hey girl sounds yummy,it's hot humid here right now, i think AC not working right after I paid to have it fixed was cool a few days, I love onions in my beef sounds awesome I love sizzling onions,I see a meat chopper sometimes, yep time to build the yummy cassarole
Oh wow, I can't believe I missed this one! I guess since I was looking at warm and comfy recipes this one popped up. Perfect timing. You use the same veggie combo that I often use. Good news, HEB actually has bags of frozen peas, carrots and corn. It's their brand and has been a life saver for me. Sometimes you have to look for it but I grab it as often as I can. Thanks again for warming me up. ☺️
That looks like it's delicious! A variation of what we make using mashed potatoes (Shepard's Pie). Its one of our family favorites! I'm gonna try this your way! Thank you!!!! :)
Do the potatoes need to be thawed first? I once made a similar casserole (not one of your recipies) using frozen potatoes like the ones your using here and it came out totally watery. I mean, I needed to ladel out a TON of water. Like 4 cups worth. The dish was ruined -- I guess that's what I get for not using one of your recipes! But I'd hate to go through that again. So just wondering "to thaw or not to thaw." Thank you. I love you, your hair color, your pretty face, and your fantastic, delicious, easy peasy recipes!! 😘🤩
It’s like your shepherds pie with veggies added just do meat and potato maybe mushrooms no veggie! It looks yum! But try different veggies cubed sweet potato’s
you just made cottage pie. i make it like this and other variations all the time and it's so good. that is minus the peas, nasty, and frozen carrots, the texture is nasty too! lol.
You are one of my favorite people to watch on RUclips for great quick recipes. You're fun energetic and right to the point. Right up there with the pioneer woman! Much love from Pa ♥️
Wow, thank you! That's awesome. I'm glad you enjoy these recipes. :)

Nothing is better than comfort food on a cold, wet, windy, day.
I'll keep them coming, don't worry about that. I will add your wife to my prayers if that's ok with you.
Thank you so much and yes the prayers are more than welcomed.
This looks so delicious and colorful. You get everything you need in one yummy dish. Another keeper you've given us
I can't imagine anyone not liking onions, they add so much great flavor and they are really good for you too...another soup that would be good here is cheddar cheese soup. I like extra cheesiness.
Believe me Mark, there are people who don't like onions. My husband hates them
Both my daughters hate onions
This popped up when searching what to do with ground beef and hash brown potatoes. Definitely making this tonight!
Hope you enjoy.
Looks so delicious thank you for sharing this recipe with us yummy

Hear, hear! Grey meat is not appetizing! Even a splash of soy sauce turns the colour brown enough!
I would add a splash of Worcestershire sauce but I can’t wait to try this!
This is now a staple for us. So good and healthy

catherinesplates.com/recipe/hamburger-potato-cheesy-casserole/
Sorry, I've attached the recipe. It took longer than expected. Hope you enjoy.
Making a version of this in my cast iron today😃
Did you bake it in it ( your cast iron skillet) like a one pan recipe? How did it turn out?
@@aprilsunflower7440 I had to look back that was 10 months ago! Lol I’m pretty sure it turned out fine…😉
@@toniarend9090 😊. Trying this weekend
@@aprilsunflower7440 well I’ve never regretted making any of Catherine’s plate’s recipes, simply, easy and delicious… lol
Yummy
😋
I love these combos, I've also made this using rice instead of the potatoes. Good comfort food 🌺 💜
Sounds great with the rice. yum.
Yummy 😃
Instead of hashbrown.s, my Granddaughter uses "Tater Tots" large or small size. Very good indeed!! Love yas.... Ax
Hey guys love you 😍
Hello Glenda, we love you too.
I have cream of cheddar soup, nacho cheese soup and golden onion. Which one of these would be best for this casserole?
Wow all 3 sounds great! The nacho soup would be tops for me.

Yes, thaw the potatoes.
@@CatherinesPlates ok...thank you!!

You are welcome. Enjoy. The best part was having it as leftovers, yum.
Looks great definitely will make it.

you just made cottage pie. i make it like this and other variations all the time and it's so good. that is minus the peas, nasty, and frozen carrots, the texture is nasty too! lol.
This is very similar to a tater tot casserole. I made some about one week ago.
I love this with tater tots. I bet yours was delicious.
