On my 96 Tahoe, the break fluid container has a rubber thing inside sitting in the fluid, what is that?

Fuck! Thank you! You just saved my ass. Long story short, my brakes went out at an intersection. Almost took out a car with kids. Made it home barely. I looked up brake fluid and found your video. Sure enough, I was completely empty. Thank you! ❤

Hey man I got the standard denali 1999 4WD my rear brake reservoir is empty and it is only drums I never use the rear brakes any ideas to why it is empty? And the flares on the quarter inch line double flares from shop are not holding any ideas?? Factory flares from GMC needed have to order a brake line from gmc? No idea why the shops cannot repair the flares they are doubles. Fluid squirts out when braking large reservoir is slower emptying not too bad but still leaks .. there anything I can put on the fittings fluid comes out the fittings replaced fittings too and make sure they are tight factory line was the same shop has no idea why the flares are not holding .. they look good too thanks ..
