I’m here in 2022 watching this with Marner as a top 5 right winger in the NHL, 97 point 35 goal season, and his place beside Matthews cemented. With hyman, bozak, JVR, all gone.

He still has 9 points in 16 games, on pace for about 40 points, a drop off from his rookie season, but he's been snake bitten for an 8 game stretch here, he's going to start scoring. He's got averaging a Takeaway per game and only given up the puck 9 times. The big thing for me? His faceoff percentage. This new/old rule essentially eliminated size as a factor in faceoffs. Marner is 56% on draws this year. You know where he fits Kyp? The Leafs 3rd line C. Bozak leaves after this year and you have Marner has your 3rd line C. Even if he isn't your 3rd line C, JVR is gone next year and Marleau will be gone 2 years (I seriously doubt he's with the Leafs for the 3rd year) so who's replacing them? Sorry but Leivo, Soshnikov and Kapanen aren't as good as Marner. You want a dman? Dermott and Liljegren look great this year and could easily pull a Nylander and start next season on our blue line and kill it. This team is not being run by fools. They aren't trading Marner for a defenseman they can't afford in 2/3 years. Any of you who think the whole Marner for Ekman Larsson from Arizona 1 for 1 deal is happening you're out of your damn minds. Look what Avs got for Duchene. Kyp is just stirring the pot. He brought up Habs trading Price on Saturday night too. Leafs are fine.

Hi Nick he was Toronto Maple Leafs best player in the 2018 playoffs and his fit is on the wall on the first pp unit where everything runs through him. I think he led the team in scoring this season too. Might want to check. #NeverBeATop3

Riley Askin, he is in his second year, it is waaaaay too early to say that he is not producing. His skill level is undeniable, he just needs to find his way again. Give the kid some breathing room.

The fact that last year his minutes were already sheltered (offensive zone starts) and he has gotten worse defensively is concerning. When your pulling the puck out of your net 80% of the time, "undeniable skill" is irrelevant
