I'd love to see him review the Bruins-Panthers series that ended up in Boston being knocked out in the first round. Thank you for all your work Don, stay healthy. Yeah I love Don too, he's very smart about hockey but he's not always 100% right. I remember Don saying Leafs should have picked Nick Ritchie over William Nylander. I disagree with him, it's been seven years of failure for this group, they're great players but it's the wrong mix, time to break it up.
He was also on a station that would ask him to be polarizing. Don't always believe the takes you see on TV. Many of them are scripted and tailored for reactions.

A lot of Ron Maclean hate, but here is the thing - Maclean did nothing wrong. Cherry was fantastic in his prime. Cherry, as a coach and manager, also knows that when you're past your prime in hockey, you get asked to step aside and its next man up. Happened to the rocket, happened to Bobby Orr, happened to Gretzky, and it happened to Cherry. He couldn't keep up with the play. Watching Cherry stumble and bumble as the replays were shown in Coaches' Corner was hard to watch. He still had talent - still does - but he needed a venue more appropriate to his style. Rushing through Coaches Corner with a producer in his ear and not even knowing what was on the screen half the time wasn't the way to go. This video is exactly what suits him now. People should stop crying about it. I bet Cherry never shed a tear for any of the players he had to trade, send down or fire. Why would he? It's hockey. If anyone knows how the real world works - its Cherry.
There’s a RUclips video of Cherry’s greatest hits - mashing the pronunciations of the players names - too funny. Maclean was the straight man in the act - correcting without hesitation (he held it in good without cracking a smile). One of my favourites « Brendan Gallagher « - Don would say Golloger would go into the danger areas in front of the net.
I’d love to hear his opinion on the injuries against Knies and Bunting and what he thought of the punishment (or lack of) received by the players on the Panthers.
As a kid when I played junior hockey in Iowa (USHL) I would have my mom record HNIC and send to me so I could see coaches corner because it was not on down there. Miss seeing him but appreciate all he had to offer. Thanks Grapes

As Leaf fan in the early 90s, they were a gritty team that somehow found way to win games in those years even though they never got to the finals. We saw a bit of that in the Tampa series, but that fire was completely absent in the Florida match up. Yes, there were some bad calls or no call, but no team is going to go far when their top guys simply stop producing.

A lot of Ron Maclean hate, but here is the thing - Maclean did nothing wrong. Cherry was fantastic in his prime. Cherry, as a coach and manager, also knows that when you're past your prime in hockey, you get asked to step aside and its next man up. Happened to the rocket, happened to Bobby Orr, happened to Gretzky, and it happened to Cherry. He couldn't keep up with the play. Watching Cherry stumble and bumble as the replays were shown in Coaches' Corner was hard to watch. He still had talent - still does - but he needed a venue more appropriate to his style. Rushing through Coaches Corner with a producer in his ear and not even knowing what was on the screen half the time wasn't the way to go. This video is exactly what suits him now. People should stop crying about it. I bet Cherry never shed a tear for any of the players he had to trade, send down or fire. Why would he? It's hockey. If anyone knows how the real world works - its Cherry.
There’s a RUclips video of Cherry’s greatest hits - mashing the pronunciations of the players names - too funny. Maclean was the straight man in the act - correcting without hesitation (he held it in good without cracking a smile).
One of my favourites « Brendan Gallagher « - Don would say Golloger would go into the danger areas in front of the net.
I’d love to hear his opinion on the injuries against Knies and Bunting and what he thought of the punishment (or lack of) received by the players on the Panthers.

As a kid when I played junior hockey in Iowa (USHL) I would have my mom record HNIC and send to me so I could see coaches corner because it was not on down there. Miss seeing him but appreciate all he had to offer. Thanks Grapes

As Leaf fan in the early 90s, they were a gritty team that somehow found way to win games in those years even though they never got to the finals. We saw a bit of that in the Tampa series, but that fire was completely absent in the Florida match up. Yes, there were some bad calls or no call, but no team is going to go far when their top guys simply stop producing.
Great job Joe and Don; not trashing anyone, just honest opinions.

Great to see the man who spoke the truth about the game and stuff .He made hockey night in Canada ,especially on Saturday nights and also when he says support our troops. He was so right on when he says that God bless don cherry hope he lives to be a 100 he deserves that in my opinion

Came across this interview again - I'll be starting a petition online soon about Don Cherry to be compensated, or receive an apology or to have CBC make some amends to him or offer him the space to come back.
I haven't watched coaches corner or any hockey game since they got rid of "Mr. Hockey night in Canada" and they all went "WOKE." I'm a Habs' fan, but whatever Mr. Cherry says is always on the money, if he says keep them together, well you better keep them together. I just love CHERRY'S CORNER 👍👍
Here is the definition of woke : aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)....very desirable and has zip to do with what fringe righty media propagandizes.
