Hey Tim, great content. I have a question...do you know of any strong needs based analysis templates to use as a benchmark or do you generally just write them out from scratch. Alternatively have you got any examples to share?
Thanks for outlining the 3 step process, Tim. What are the top 5 (or more) questions that you ask the client when performing a Needs Analysis? I've had clients who want to simply jump into design and production because they've decided that e-learning is the solution to all their problems, and that they have tons of content that they want included in the course.
Hi Tim, nice video, very clear and succinct. Are there any Training Needs Analysis courses you can recommend (online please)? Many thanks and keep up the great work.
Hey Tim, what about if there isn’t a performance gap per se, but e.g. it’s a new software solution being brought in that is brand new, or there isn’t a way of measuring current performance. How does a needs analysis work in this way?
Instructional design seems to usually be used as synonymous with training....it's almost always assumed it's for a business and not for a college course.
thanks Tim for making me understand. i would like to ask, I was given an assignment to : Identify three components of a Needs analysis and then asked to state the features of each?. so im confused to what is needed
Hey, Tim. Thanks for the great tips. Your videos are so beneficial. I just wanted to ask you: Should I suggest doing a needs analysis with my client even if he/she didn't mention that? Cuz most of my clients didn't even know about that.
Hey there! I'm glad you liked the video! The simple answer is: YES! You should take the time to research why your clients or stakeholders are asking you to build an eLearning course. You may discover that eLearning isn't the answer. You should also ask your clients / stakeholders what lead them to the conclusion that eLearning (or any learning) is the answer. Otherwise, you risk creating a learning solution for a non-learning problem. I hope that makes sense!
I love your approach so very easy to understand. Thank you, please keep the videos coming

Yep. Oftentimes, they just want it created and the ID has no control over determining if it's truly needed.
