      You're mostly have to do a bit of modification either to the car or to the body.
      Here are from what I tested.
      Firelap
      • Mustang GT Convertible: 98mm, direct fit, all 0mm offset narrow wheels
      • BMW M3: 102mm, need to grind wheel arches our for more access, all 0mm offset narrow wheels
      Kyosho Mini-Z
      • FWD body, I have Honda Civic Type R: 98mm, grind wheel arches, all 0mm narrow wheels
      • Subaru Impreza WRX, the new one with 98mm wheelbase. Same as the FWD: 0mm offset + widen the wheel arches.
      • Lexus SC430: 98mm, move front shock tower down (pretty difficult to get right and not compromise handling), front 1.5mm offset narrow wheels, rear 0mm offset wide wheels
      • Audi R8 LMS: Same as SC430 with front 2.5mm offset narrow wheels, rear 0mm offset wide wheels
      • Corvette ZR1: 98mm, No need to mod the shock towers, just make custom front lip to lift the bonnet up and re-position side clips, front 1.5mm offset narrow wheels, rear 0mm offset wide wheels.

    • @BeaversHobby

      For the chassis any offset will work. You have to choose the wheel according to the body. If M3 you'll be using is the one from Firelap with 102mm wheelbase then 0 offset will work. The body is quite narrow. Anyway, start with 0 offset is almost grantee will fit any body except the very narrow one.

      If you want it to be AWD then take a look at Atomic AMZ. For AMG GT3 you might want to get the wide chassis conversion as wel so the wheels fit the body better since AMG GT3 is a wide body amd AMZ is a narrow chassis as stock.
      Otherwise, Mini-Q Q2 bit.ly/2PJ8JHw . It's a good RWD car at fair price. It comes as front wide chassis already and you can change the motor pod to make it 98mm wheelbase and use the exact wheels from AMG GT3 kit.

    Hi @Beaver's Hobby,
    I've got an question, and I don't know if its stupid one or not.
    Because of you're video's I've bought an K989, because I like the idea; build not bought.
    I am a Porsche fan, is there a body you could recommend?
    I saw the MR20 Porsche 962, but because of the front it would not fit? It there a way to make it fit?
    And what do you think about; Kyosho Porsche 934 turbo RSR, would this one fit? And what about Kyosho's wheels? do they fit?
    Keep the video's coming!
    Thanks.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  5 лет назад +1

      Unfortunately none of Kyosho Porsche bodies will fit this car because they are 86-90mm narrow body which are way shorter and way narrower than WLtoys.
      Look for K969 body, for example this one www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Wltoys-K969-K979-K989-K999-P929-P939-1-28-RC-Car-spare-parts-Consumable-replacement-package/1461967_32869407322.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.39.20a72d48wlH5F7&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10065_10068_10059_10884_10887_10696_100031_10084_10083_10103_10618_10304_10307_10820_10821_10302,searchweb201603_45,ppcSwitch_3&algo_expid=0272675c-a50d-4eb6-9cee-876475a0ab1b-5&algo_pvid=0272675c-a50d-4eb6-9cee-876475a0ab1b&transAbTest=ae803_1&priceBeautifyAB=0
      I know it doesn't look as good as Kyosho's but it's from WLtoys so everything will fit perfectly.
      The other thing you can do is use another RC car body or model and make your own mounting system probably from magnet. Someone once told me that 1/24 Rastar Porsche 911 GT3 RS has 98mm wheelbase so you can check that out. Maybe you can find one in toy store near you. Take a ruler with you to measure wheelbase (distance between centre of front wheel to rear wheel) is always a good thing. I always have IKEA paper tape measure with me almost all the time. You never know what you'll find strolling in a toy shop.

    • @JasperDergent
      @JasperDergent 5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the quick reply and the effort! I'm going to look in other solutions. I'm thinking of buying a white (no painted) body and see what is need to cut, fix or re-design. Then I've one question left. I've you make the chassis longer, 98 -> 102 mm, do you need a longer drive shaft because is AWD?
      Again, thanks for the reply.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  5 лет назад

      Even with the new, at least newest for Kyosho, 911 GT3 RS has 90mm wheelbase so to cut it to 98mm you will leave a lot of gap before rear wheels. As for the width, change the wheels to 0 offset will help but there will still be rubbing. Well, you can always do some sculpting to make wide body kit for it. Anyway, look for another body or scale model and make mounting system might require same amount of work though.
      The way to extend the chassis to 102mm is replace rear main shaft pinion with the longer one. It comes with the car so you don't have to buy anything.
      As for the wheels, (sorry, forgot to answer this before) you can use Mini-Z AWD wheels.
      All info about wheel and chassis are in the 1st video of this series. ruclips.net/video/TnhriaSSfSA/видео.html

      Unfortunately Skylines and RX7 are much smaller than WLtoys, they are 94mm and 90mm wheelbase for narrow chassis but WLtoys are 98mm wheelbase ultra wide chassis. There are only few JDM that fit, Honda Civic Type R, Subaru Impreza (4 door version) and Prius. And you'll have to change the wheels to narrow 0mm offset + shave the wheel arches to make it work.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  3 года назад +1

      @@milo8091 It's possible but very difficult. The easiest way to do is to get the carbon chassis, it'll allow you to move the gearbox in one step. Then cut and flatten the prop shaft to make it work with 94mm. The thing you can't fix is the width. It'll still be too wide for most of 94mm chassis. I'd suggest you to do another way by extend the wheelbase, cut new chassis plate and make custom prop shaft (if you want to keep it AWD) then use a 1/24 model as body in stead.

      The wheel offset is too deep. You'll need 0mm offset narrow wheels to make it fit WLtoys. After that just a little sanding of the wheel arches will work.

      Aluminium wheels are 2.5mm narrow front and 1mm wide rear. They fill the wheel arches really well with a bit of rubbing. It can turn but I'd suggest front 1.5 and rear 0.

    Does all the kyosho bodykits fit the Kysho AWD?

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  5 лет назад

      No, it depends on the wheelbase. Mini-Z AWD is adjustable from 90-98mm. There're also narrow and wide bodies. MA010 and 015 are narrow chassis and if you use wide body you'll have to use wheels with offset to compensate. MA020 in the other hand can extend to wide chassis and has the lowest nose of all so most of the body will fit.
      On the last note, a new chassis that sort of came out but not really is MA030 (which is based on FWD that's already out) will come out as EVO mid July. This one has limited body compatibility because the motor is high up at the front. You can check here, look for FWD compatibility. kyosho.com/mini-z-info/support/body-specifications/

    The only thing I haven't found in your guides is how fix beeping when accelerating. My car had this issue initially and I have not find much cases on the internet. The only fix I found - to switch to brushless, but as you've said in this video - there is not much sense as original motor runs fast enough.
    Could you please suggest any other fix for that?

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately the beeping is from the ESC which is unavoidable for a brushed system.
      Brushless actually has some kind of ringing noise too unless you use the field-oriented control system like Furitek ESC but that is too much cost just to fix this particular thing.

      I suggest +2 narrow at the front and +1 wide at the back. Wltoys is wider than Mini-Z wide and the rear from Mini-Z is from narrow motor mount. Also remember to get AWD wheels, they are different than RWD.
      And yes, tyres only have 2 size, narrow and wide, generally speaking for the standard touring though. LMP is different and hard to find so better not touch that at the moment.

    Do all bodies fit the Mini-Q slash?

    • @BeaversHobby

      No, not the LMP cars (Toyou GT One, Mazda 787b, Mercedes C9). Also you need the body between 90mm and 102mm wheelbase (in other word, 86mm won't fit) that use more than 1mm offset wheels otherwise the wheel will rub against suspension arms.
      All in all, almost all the modern bodies will fit because they are between 90-98mm wheelbase. Except for those LMP I mentioned earlier. The body I use in this video also fits without any modification.

    • @BeaversHobby
      @BeaversHobby  2 года назад

      - The magnets come off very easily in crashes and flip.
      - The magnets raise the center of gravity.
      - Heavy
      However those are fine for drift cars if you choose to do so. The main reason we use Mini-Z system because essentially this car (or these 1/28) are based off Mini-Z and they come with its mounting system so why not utilize it.
