Brut is my all time favourite scent, I love it! It's not the classiest scent I own or use but for an everyday scent its by far my number 1.

Aqua Velva Musk is surprisingly VERY good. I am 34 years old, and went from wearing Acqua di GIo, Gucci Guilty, and all those colognes for around $100, to Aqua Velva, Skin Bracer, and Pinaud Clubman and Bay Rum, and I'm never looking back! haha

Logan Stroganoff I usually wear Old Spice Pure Sport. Recently started wearing Brut splash on. Wifes dad wore both as well. Shes happy. Brut smells real manly. I definitely recommend giving it a whirl.

    From Brut's U.S.A. website:
Brut Splash-On: "the subtlest form of Brut".
Brut Aftershave: "not as strong as our cologne, but just as smooth".
    Brut Cologne: "our longest-lasting scent".
Brut sold in America is made (in Mexico) by Idelle Labs (based in El Paso, TX).
Brut sold in Europe is made (not sure in which EU country, but France, I think) by Unilever.

I don't know what changed in colognes in the 80's when all these "classics" were being replaced with designer scents like drakkar noir, aramis, obsession, to name a few but most designer scents make me sneeze and wheeze. Jovan Musk is probably the strogest scent I can wear without feeling allergy like symptoms. I'll never stop wearing the under $25 scents. The reason they've been around for a long time is because they are timeless, fresh and masculine. Those are the things ladies respond too. If you don't think that when a girl smells Old spice on you and it gives her a nostalgic olfactory memory of her dad and or grandpa, which in turn warms her up to you, is a good thing then you don't know how the game is played.

Brut Splash-On smells completely different to Brut 33 which smells stronger and better quality. Brut 33 from the bottle has cologne strength...slightly musky with robust, linear notes of amber and mint...smells more viscous, to the nose it has a single malt scotch quality. In comparison, Brut Splash-On smells lighter/diluted, it has more of a refreshing soda vibe with hints of florals which make it more of a barbershop fragrance and the Brut 33 fits better as a social evening fragrance. Fabergé made the Brut 33 and Brut Parfums Prestige make the Brut Splash-On so I’m not sure if this is their modern take on Brut 33 or if it is a separate/different kind of eau de fraiche/eau de Brut. All I know for sure is the two versions smell completely different plus they have different quality rankings.

I enjoyed your reviews. I haven't seen the Brut cologne with the silver medallion in years. I used to wear it when i was younger. I personally like to use Aqua Velva or Old Spice as well as Afta. Afta complements Aqua Velva better though. I splash on the aqua velva and the smooth in some Afta. One of my granfathers used Afta and Aqua Velva. My other grandfather used Skin Bracer and Old Spice. I think the old classic scents are just as good as the expensive stuff that comes out. The older I get, the more I appreciate things for what they are and less their snob appeal or price. My father often used Jovan and Carrington Musk among others. He was very musky. Personally, not a strong musk fan.
    Regarding scents. In my opinion.
Aqua Velva has a light citrusy musk.
Brut has a light musk with a little leather tones
Old Spice is a light sweet musk with spicy tones.
Skin Bracer is super light with a sweetish musk.
My barber uses a really nice aftershave with strong tobacco notes and a clean crisp finish. I forget the name though.

Hey Jake, I use Old Spice and I love it. I walk through the halls at work and leave people wondering what scent I'm wearing. I've had a woman tell me that I smell delicious. I use the Old Spice Classic Scent body wash and then layer it with the Old Spice Classic Scent cologne spray and it lasts all day. I switch up on Brut and Old Spice depending on the weather. I have not tried Aqua Velva.

My favorites are Skin Bracer, Aqua Velva, Taconic Eucalyptus and Mint and Taconic Bay Rum. Taconic is alcohol free but they still give you a nice mild menthol kick. The Eucalyptus and Mint a little more so with the mint ingredients since they're natural ingredients.

    Thanks for the reviews.
A very nice video, great full audio.
I tried them all, especially Brut & Old Spice because Dad used them as well.
Now I'm buying them on my own from major big-box retailers, but not from
supermarkets or drug stores (less turnover = old stock)
    Since I'm in the back office and not face to face with 'the clients', but still have to look presentable around the colleagues. I shampoo & shower in the morning, (brush teeth & mouthwash as well);
get to the job, return home; and then shave & then a two minute warm water 'face wash' in the shower in the evening. Then the next morning, I apply one of the four mentioned aftershaves
(after the shower) without the burning effect.
    Great video.

I know this video is a few years old, but I can't believe all these products are still around. I wore all of those, at one point or another, 40+ years ago. But, I've not been able to wear any colognes or other scented items for about 30 years ago, due to developing chemical sensitivity. Now, when I get the slightest smell of any cologne or perfume, I get a migraine and become nauseous. On the positive side, I saved a lot of money! haha Cool hair!

I love the fragrance of Old Spice but kind of embarrassed to wear it because it’s so retro.....most of my fragrances are Macy’s designer in the range of $50 to $100.....that said I’d like to return to some of the old classics of my youth. Blue Velvet was my favorite but today’s versions smells so alcohol based, it has no endurance plus it’s cut down from its original smell. I suppose I should keep it around just for a post shave skin bracer.

Hello. I like very much Old Spice and Brut, both are very special. Old spice made in india is more close to the original by shulton and it comes into a glass bottle, because the p&g version smells sweeter and less spicy and it comes into a pvc plastic bottle. ¿ Would you mind posting a review of Hai Karate ?. I ask because it is no longer produced and it is more available and cheap in UK, and too because I saw a comment that if you mix old spice and brut, about half and half, you get Hai Karate. I do not know how Hai Karate Smells. I mixed brut and Old spice by p&g, and the new aroma is amazing, they harmonize, it is strong and vintage too, lasting, both complement to each one. I think it will be better mixing the more close versions of both (shulton and original brut).. I will appreciate it if you give us your opinion if you do the experiment. Personally I like very much the vintage colognes, and it is worth to look for how to get the aroma of colognes which are no longer produced or difficult and expensive to get..The problem to get Hai KARATE from UK is that they only sell into UK, and the exchange rate for Mexico is expensive. Thank you very much for your reviews.

My ranking: 1. AV, 2. OS, 3. Skin Bracer and 4. Brut. If you can find Skin Bracer Cooling Blue, I would prefer that to all of these as far as the scent, but it's out of production I'm pretty sure. I found two bottles several years ago and I still have some left.. For Brut, I use the Family Dollar version by Vi-Jon (it's called "Classic Aftershave" in a similarly shaped bottle). For Skin Bracer green, I use Barbasol Brisk, which is pretty much identical in scent. Nice review! My other favorites are Pinaud Clubman, Pinaud Lilac Vegetal, Master's Bay Rum and Aqua Velva Musk.

Now that I got Master well comb Topaz aftershave, I am thinking that there is a way to recreate or to get close to the original smell of Old Spice by Shulton. The more close version of Old spice by Shulton is the Old Spice Original made in india, by P&G, it comes into glass bottles by the way, it smells very similar, it is very spicy, but it is not as creamy or thick or soapy or powdery as the original, it feels that burns, it feels thinner. May be mixing this old spice made in india and Master Topaz you turn your old spice more close to the Shulton's formula (powdery, creamy, thick, Soapy, more gentle, etc.). May be starting with 80% OS and 20% topaz, and tryinig differente percentajes, but I think the mix should be good. The plastic bottle version availabe in America is less spicy and it is sweet, very different than the original formula. I suggest you to try mixing and then give your opinions. PD. I prefer Splash than atomizer. Greetings from Mexico.

Faberge Brut was good, but for me, nothing will beat Skin Bracer-- even if it does only last a couple hours. It has a great scent that isn't so strong that it bothers people unlike Old Spice or (original) Brut. I never did try Brut 33 either, so I'll be sure to pick it up next time I'm out. I must admit I really like wearing Old Spice from time to time. It's funny hearing that grandfather line. The first bottle I got was from my grandfather, and that was the only cologne/aftershave he wore. Something else I find funny is that before they made the body spray commercials with the guy on the horse I would get compliments all the time from women saying they liked that I actually smelled like a man.

How old were you in this video? 40? Skin looks good! How are you these days? I don’t use aftershave for the scent so 4 hours isn’t really a selling point for me. These all kinda smell like old grandpa IMO but then I haven’t shaved my face since I was 17. I’m a beard guy but now use these for my shaved head.
I was using headblade aftershave lotion (Clear Head). It’s probably good for face too! As for the liquids I’m using Aqua Velva and Brut right now. Brut burns more, and I like the smell better. But I still feel like Velva still might be better results as far as less bumps. Plus the Aqua Velva scent seems more subtle. And seems to go away faster which is what I need.

man..I wish AV, Skin Bracer and Brut would bring back those glass bottles..Now I picked up a glass bottle of Brut A/S in Mexico recently and it smells a lot better than the plastic.I used to get those classic Brut gift sets from auntie back in the day..I scoffed at them (and her, lol), but over the years it's grown on me. I also used to enjoy those skin bracer scents they made back then, especially the spice.

Been using Old Spice after shave since I was 12/13 years old and started shaving. My grandfather and great grandfather used it. love this stuff. I use the after shave and cologne and deodorant (Original/ Classic Sent) everyday. Recently found some Old Spice (Shulton) shaving cream online and cannot wait to try it out. From what I have read though it seems like a cool comparison would be to test out the Old Spice (Shulton) shaving cream and the new Prorso Sandalwood.

Nice vid! I keep coming back to Aqua Velva; the scent, the way it tones, and that menthol buzz are just too perfect. After watching this, I really want to try Brut!
You should do a new video and feature Clubman, another affordable classic!

Try Brut you'll like it. Aqua Velva Ice Blue is a good one. Also try Gillette cool 🌊 wave. I have all 3. 😎

Brut is my favorite, just recently tried it, the classic one i might add, (original Brut scent), but I used to be an Aqua Velva man, or Swiss Army depending on the mood or time of day.

I also like and you should try the aqavelva musk. One of the better musks. Some musks are just to musty if you ask me. They also have a Ice sport, really good and it last longer than most.Goes great with avon untouchable cologne
Barbasol actually makes a green and a blue. The green is a classic barber shop scent. Tge blue is more menthol minty smell. Both cheap too.

Despite what your mother told you, you can’t steam your pores open. “Pores do not have muscles around their opening to allow them to open and close,” says Pon. However, steaming the skin can help loosen up underlying debris, making blackheads easier to extract.

Hi, great video. I have a Brut with the silver medallion, and it's made in TX by Helen of Troy. Does that make sense? Is it the original one, or what's left of it? The box says "special reserve".
    Thanks.

The Brut Splash on is a total waste of money. It's the weakest of the Brut line and you're correct about it being Brut 33. One's better off buying the aftershave or the splash in the plastic bottle. If you want one based on the original Faberge formula, get the 25.6 oz gift edition of the Brut Cologne glass bottle with the medallion.
Brut is owned by Idelle Labs/Helen of Troy in the USA. The little bottle with the medallion that says Faberge classic hasn't been produced for many years. There is a little green glass bottle with a medallion called Brut Special Reserve. It's stronger but a slightly different formula than the original. Brut is owned by Unilever in Europe and issues many other versions including a musk. All are in glass bottles.
At 5:28, you mentioned that Old Spice was started by the "Shultz" company. I'm sure you meant to say "Shulton". That bottle you have looks like a vintage bottle and not the current "Classic" version issued by Proctor and Gamble in the USA. The USA version now smells sweeter and less spicy.
My problem with all of them is that the scents don't last long. I would recommend splashing on some Thayers witch hazel followed by Brut cologne, or.Old Spice Cologne (even stronger EdT versionin Europe), As far as Aqua Velva goes, I prefer the AV Musk which has great longevity and projection. The scent lasts on the skin for about 5 hours.

Splashes that aren't colognes aren't the weakest of all the fragrance issues with the smallest percentage of fragrance oil. The order from weakest to strongest is splash-on, aftershave, cologne, eau de toilette and eau de parfum having the highest concentration of fragrance oil. (see link at bottom of comment)
Sorry about the "splash" misnomer. I wrote all that information so fast that the line that states: ""one's better off buying the aftershave or the splash in the plastic bottle." should be:
"one's better off buying the aftershave or the splash COLOGNE in the plastic bottle."!
In my opinion, the weak splash-on is worthless if you want any longevity of scent. My recommendation would be to buy the Brut splash cologne in the giant 25.6 oz. glass bottle with the medallion because Brutworld USA has informed me that it's the only version they produce that's based on the original Faberge formula. Target.com had a fanastic sale on it last December and I bought it for about $14 after coupon codes:
      www.target.com/p/men-s-brut-by-faberge-co-cologne-splash-25-6-oz/-/A-14605796
I would wait for online discount coupons before purchasing or the end of the year holiday sales (and hope they're still producing it. (It's supposedly a limited edition gift item).. Alternatively, the Brut Special Reserve spray cologne in the 3 oz. green glass bottle is close in scent and has nice longevity. Remember that colognes have a higher alcohol content than aftershaves and will cause more burn when placed on the skin after a shave.
My favorite of all the Brut scents is Brut Dominant lotion which seems to have been pulled off the shelves by the US manufacturer, Helen of Troy/Idelle Labs..
Here's a good article on fragrance oil strength:
      www.menshealth.co.uk/style/fragrance/MH-buyers-guide-fragrances
" There’s much confusion over the various different fragrance strengths, so for the record it goes like this: after pure perfume, eau de parfum (a strength that can apply to male fragrances as well as female ones) is the strongest, containing between 8-15% pure fragrance, followed by eau de toilette (4-8%), eau de cologne (2-5%) and, finally, aftershave - which typically contains just 1-3% pure fragrance. Because of the higher perfume content, eau de toilette will tend to have better staying power on the skin than aftershave, typically lasting for 6-8 hours, depending on your skin type.

Have you ever tried aqua velva original sport? (The green one) It was the first after shave I bought and I really like it. It has a cool menthol scent to it. From what I read I don't think they sell it in the states, but I'm sure you could get it online.

I've been using Old Spice for months now and never realized how strong it really was. I noticed recently that people kept asking what that cinnamon smell was whenever I was around, and I never realized that it was my own face! I want an aftershave that smells good, without overpowering my companions. I might give Aqua Velva a whirl.

i don't think splash on can use it as an after shave !
here in Greece we have Brut aftershave
but i think splash on is an EDC version of Brut fragrance because my bottle with the metal chain has a vaporisateur
and also we have Brut EDT
