You make the BEST tutorial install videos compared to any other youtuber. I love how you stop and slow down and explain things so well. If it wasn't for you, I may have never got my ax24 to go brushless haha.
GREAT VIDEO!!! I have this motor on the way for my FCX24 K5. it is on sale at Helidirect for Presidents Day. I thought it was still pricey, but your video showed me why…lol. The bluetooth adjustments via app is amazing for such a small piece of electronics! I also ordered FMS steel transmission gears, FMS steel diff gears, and Injora steel driveshafts. I figure, may as well beef up the components that the new motor will stress. I will refer to your video a few more times as I wade through the installation and app features. Thank you for taking the time to make this!
Hi, thanks for the video! Would this system work with fcx18 lc80? And, since the esc gets replaced, would the lights still work? Cheers from New Zealand.
Yes, all of the fcx24 and 18 can use this system. Unfortunately you would lose control of the lights. You could plug them on an they would always be on. The stock Receiver has the light controller in it. If your NEW receiver has the light controller as well, they will work, but the furitek receiver does not control the lights.
Great idea. I just didn’t want it to “bubble” the edges and cause rubbing. I guess I could still just cut out the bubble or bevel that might be made from heating the plastic.
you have to be sure you have the receiver I showed. To bind, it's simple (and I pretty sure i show it in the video). Just hold the bind button down while you turn on the remote, then while its blinking, turn on the truck. Then wait 5 seconds or so and turn them both off, and then on again. You should be bound. If it still doesnt bind... it might be an issue with the v2 :(
Ken....Do you or would you suggest replacing the trany with the Fruitek one ???well I should tell you I,m probably installing the Brushless set up on the Smasher V2 ... wondering why you didnt .install on your Butcher .. I'm just guessing but maybe the Fruitek does not support two speed like the stock .. a guess ?? whenever you have time to answer I know your busy
The “furitek trany” that is metal is for an scx24, the fcx24 trans and motor combo that furitek offers is just the stock trans still. I personally like the fcx24 trans with the two speed. It makes the truck fun. However, if I was going to try and build a serious comp crawler, the two speed would come out (or I would at least remove the non-needed parts) to help lighten up the truck.
Hi Sir, do you have an easy way how to lock the trasmission of max smasher for high speed only, I want to remove the servo selector and leave it on high speed gear only. Thank you.
Just gotta get creative with it. Maybe use a twisty tie to hold the shift shaft in the high speed position. you can also just put a dab of hot glue over the one end so it doesnt slide back into low. You can then remove the hotglue if you ever wanna restore the 2 speed.
@@TheShopMiniRC thank you, I thought my idea to just have something to hold it outside is kinda bonkers coz I saw someone did something by putting/changing something with the gear inside. So, this is the acceptable other/easier way 😁 thanks alot sir 👍😊👍
@@R-EVLMNKY you can probably add some shims inside the shift mech or remove the shift fork, but that’s a lot more work and requires taking it all apart.
Just ordered my brushless kit... this inexpensive small scale crawler is getting up there in budget costs.. haha i can think of 400$ not including tires, and links
Hey man! Great stuff here, love your videos. My stock remote started the twitch of death, with throttle and steering. Recalibrate it and tried it on another truck as well so I know its the remote. Do you have any recommendations for another remote that will work with this setup? Thanks in advance!
Any normal RC transmitter(remote) and receiver will work, as long as you replace the remote and rx. This is a replacement remote for the FCX24 (k5 and smasher): shrsl.com/48i8r there are a few others on their site and it looks like some can be ordered with JUST the remote.
It’s going to give far more control because it’s brushless. If you only care about speed, there are better ways to get speed. The Furitek Cedar would be a good place to start.
Is there anyway to make to stock truck run smoother and quite the transmission is a noisy bugger it actually stops me from running it ya my ocd is a real thing 😄
Have you completely torn down the front & rear portals, transmission, & got into the punkins to get to the ring & pinion gears to lube them properly? It is loud because all those locations need to be lubed well, which I highly doubt you ever did or you wouldn't have mentioned your problem. Tear it completely down & do it right & it will be far much quieter.
No, it wouldn’t, it’s a different protocol. This rx is designed to work with the stock flysky remotes. You need to use the furitek tx and rx or you can use the stock remote and this rx Either way, both work with any external esc.
@@djtazzmtl ooof. I forgot they offer a tx without any rx. :( yeah, you’ll need to order an rx. That Also means you won’t be needing the rx that came with the drop in kit. If you find yourself wanting to get rid of the rx, lemme know. ;)

You are the best, been trying to find that out thanks friend going to buy that system.
Thanks!!!! It’s a great system.
Super cool, catch on the next one
Thanks for coming

So far I did the install and it looks like you do. I’m trying to figure out a way around it as we speak lmao
You can still have lights but they will always be on since there is no light controller.
That was great to watch. I did not know you could use app to change settings. Hi from ontario canada
Glad it was helpful! One of the best parts of the furitek systems !!
Would this work in a rochobby/fms 6x6?
They have a motor that bolts in for the 6x6. Look for the atlas brushless system.
Great video . Will this also works in the Fcx24 Unimog ? Thanks 🙏
yep!
@@TheShopMiniRC thanks 😊 not sure if this is good now for me 🤣🤣
will this fit into an fcx18 and use the stock transmitter
Yes
Have you tried to heat the blade of the knife to cut the housing out?
Great idea. I just didn’t want it to “bubble” the edges and cause rubbing. I guess I could still just cut out the bubble or bevel that might be made from heating the plastic.

Sure can.

Do you know if the receiver will take noble nb4 transmitter?
No. You have to use a specific noble receiver.
will this work with the fcx24 version 2 with the slightly different remote and esc?
Yes.
How can I run brushless and rear steer on my k5 FCX24? Could I use this kit?
Sure can.
Would you keep the stock (new model) transmitter for rear steer and brushless setup or would you go spectrum, etc?
all a matter of preference. A higher end transmitter will give you better mixing/rearsteer options.

What body is the yellow one? Originally fms?
That’s the power wagon the first fcx24
@@TheShopMiniRC the wheatered yellow body is stock fms?

I just put the chameleon combo in my scx24 and really dig it. $99 motor/esc/transmission.

@TheShopMiniRC Its a huge massive improvement over stock. Its Bluetooth app is unbelievably tunable. Im impressed.
Very cool what other upgrades do you suggest for this .yours seem to have some upgrades
I like the longer wheelbase in the butcher for sure.
Why did you upgrade the chassis to furytek's? Is it not worth it?
We didn’t upgrade the chassis. With this truck we just wanted to use the stock chassis. The furitek chassis is great though.
@@TheShopMiniRC thank you. Yeah seems like the stock is good enough. No need to upgrade something just because.

Hi Ken could you please get me the measurements of this receiver thanks,
Seeing if it will fit on fcx24 grasshopper chassis delrin slider
22.5 x 20.6 x 25.5 It looks like it should fit. Worst case, you can dremel the case a tiny bit or completely decase the ESC and gain a ton more space.
Thanks
I've made spare shift rods from paper clips

how much doe's the app cost ?
It’s free
Is it faster than the high speed motor from FM'S?

Your not explaining what plugs into what.. tada!
No info
What? Your esc plugs into channel2 and your servo into Channel 1. Shift servo channel 3 and battery plugs into the esc.
For the love of all that's holy what get plugged into what channel??!! No one has said anything
You plug the esc into channel 2.
On the power wagon there isn't a channel 2 there is a channel 3??
