    my grandfather uses the T2i for wildlife and macro photography using the Sigma 18-125 macro f/4 and 100-400 f/4, both full-frame glass but he is happy with his set up and he takes better photos than I do.

    Thanks for this informative video. I purchased the T2i the year it was released, and have been using it ever since. I even built an extensive lens system around it. One lens that I love to use with this camera, however, is the Tokina 11mm-16mm f2.8 Pro DX. This combination is a charm for street photography and landscapes! Although I have an advanced version of a Canon camera, the T2i is simply my go-to for almost everything!!! Keep informing and keep shooting!!!

      Ohh great wide angle lens! I have used Tokina 11-16 and 11-22 a number of times over the years on various Canon bodies. Glad to hear that you are getting a lot of use out of it!

    I bought my Canon T2i when my first daughter was born. I loved shooting her as a baby and nature shots. Now she's 14 and started getting into photography, and I'm passing the camera on to her.

    I bought a t2i used for $200 about 7 years ago and it’s served me very well. I can attest to the usefulness of the 75-300 mm. Great for zoo trips so the kids can see animals deep in their exhibits.

    Suddenly seems to be a lot of 550D/T2i videos on You Tube. Interesting. I've been shooting two of them since early 2016.
    I shoot nearly anything, right now that seems to be mostly grandkids sports. Canon 70-300 lens for that. The little 24mm STM seems to love people, especially in small groups. I wanted a higher end walk around lens so I bought a used EF-S 15-85mm lens. Superb lens at 15, 24, 35, 70mm and in between. I'm looking now for a good 50mm f1.4.
    Just to bore you some more in closing, my T2i's also seem to work well (fully manually) with some old OM Zuiko lenses from my film days.

    Great video. I have a SL3, and those are my 3 main lenses. I find myself grabbing the 50mm more often then the others, just because I love the look the f/1.8 provides. I just find myself having to standing further away from my subject then I always expect to. It does great for low light video as well, with minimal grain that is easily removed in editing.

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  Год назад +1

      Nice! That's a super lightweight kit you've got there with the Sl3 and 50mm. I've probably used the 50mm (both 1.8 and the 50mm 1.4) more than any other canon lens in the last 10 years

    I have a T2i bought many years but did not use much unfortunately. Now retired I am eager to learn more about photography. I am
    Interested in wildlife photography both close and long distance shots. Does the 70-300mm kit lens have IS? Is the lens compatible with t2i? Or should I upgrade to T7?
    Another question is what mode should I use when taking photos of animals in distant say 100-200 yards or more away? AV? M (manual)?
    Thanks

    Thank you so much for making this video! I have a T2i that I got the year it came out with the 18-15mm kit lens. I mostly use it for nature but was looking to upgrade my lens to be able to get some good moon shots. Do you have any you recommendations for that?

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi! No problem! For longer range shots like that, I'd recommend something closer to 300mm, so the 75-300MM would be the most cost effective option, but as a longer optical range like that, I'd definitely recommend using a tripod or a fixed surface otherwise it would introduce too much camera shake when you took the picture.

    Hey! If I’m willing to spend for a lens for my T2i, would you still recommend the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III for sports photography? I want to get some good, tightly framed close-ups of my kids on the baseball field.
    Thanks!

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  7 месяцев назад

      I would probably lean more towards the 55-250mm STM lens in this situation. Handles sports better than the 75-300mm, and has quicker focus too. Still has good range up to 250mm.

  • @retouthugues4921

    I still use it with the 17-55 f2.8, and the canon efs 55-250 ( my 50mm1.8 is dead😅, it had a bad autofocus and bad quality buid but able to do very very nice photos for the price). The 18-55 of the kit is good too in good light situation. The only reason why i think about changing of camera is the bad autofocus system compared to new hybrid. Too many bad focus if subjects are too fast (like children, sport...).

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  6 месяцев назад

      Totally agree! The newer cameras out now have really amazing autofocus capability with dozens of AF points instead of a few.

    Im messing around with this hobby, and am trying to use my iPhone… however, my dad has the T2i and says I can use it.
    BUT, I do want to do a youtube channel, and wonder what people were making youtube videos with when this camera came out?.. were people using dslr’s for videos in 2010?

    • @pricklypearcamera
      @pricklypearcamera  11 месяцев назад +1

      They were indeed! And many used the original go pro and flip (no longer around) camcorders. The t2i I believe does 1080p at 30fps. The problem is it has a rolling shutter, so when its moved during filming it may not be smooth. Also, the onboard mic stinks so for youtube videos you’d want an external microphone

    I have a canon T5i. And I have the slr xs. I have two of the 75 300. And 3 18 55 lense. I own now. One canon slr and dslr T5i. And Nikons. D5000. 5200. 7000. And I have some other lenses for them as well. I own some mirrorless ones as well like 2 Nikon j1 and a canon G15. And Nikon I forget the number. And I have a Sony ax camera. I own like ten digital cameras from Nikon to canon to Sony to Samsung. I do own action cameras. Some no pros. I own all go pros but not the 12 yet. I am getting into taking photos a lot. I learned a lot just watching your videos on cameras to lenses.

      @@pricklypearcamera oh. Yeah. If you update the software put the update on the sd card. This way it restarts and reads it. This helps a lot of issues. GoPro is not that bad. Maybe bad sales people but the camera. Can be hard but easy to solve by updating the firmware.
