  • The next step in the stage rally build is the exhaust manifold. From gained experience on antilag we build this manifold for optimal performance and NO TURBO LAG!!

    What a great video, look how the part is moving when your welding 07:10

      Wow I made the video and didn’t even notice it! Another reason what having all the runners welded together before welding the overall manifold.

    Amazing idea! Show for us the difference with and without these systems, if possible. (Maybe lock the valve)

      When it gets to tuning, it’ll be tuned with and without ALS then a tune that incorporates both together for true stage rally.

Then I jumped ship from my 9-5 and started my own company. The freedoms are nice, just be prepared for endless nights and non existent weekends for the first 5 years.

    did the v-band stay straight? tip for future have the exhaust housing clampad as a heat spreader so vbands stay straight.

      Always good to be cautious and have started recently machining aluminum caps for every vband I come in contact with. Fortunately this particular flange was exceptionally thick so it did not warp.

    Curious what the joins look like inside?,(only takes a tiny bit metal melt off to distroy turbo?)

      Manifold was back purged so welded inside and out. Took extreme care to make sure everything was clean and no debris after welding

    I thought the fresh air valve is fed by the compressor side not the turbine side. You’re essentially using it as a wastegate here?

    • @afterhoursgarage920
      @afterhoursgarage920  8 месяцев назад +2

      Is it fed via the compressor side. The fresh air will be entering right before the turbine side instead of directly after the ports. I’ve found that having the air enter right after the head drastically raises the temp of the head.
      The method I’m using may take a second longer to get ignited as it’s further down stream, but maximizing reliability and temps are my concern not peak performance

      Honestly I think it’ll give the car a unique sound. Also with this design it really helped with packaging as I needed space above it. If it doesn’t work or causes issues… I’ll build a new one 🤷🏼‍♂️

      @@markcozzie I’m having Tim whittenridge from Motorsport electronics tune the car. I’ve worked with him on a few builds including a true rocket antilag system. He’s an absolute wizard when it comes to tuning. Currently having the wiring harness built, and saving for all of the motec electronics.

    Exhaust gas isn't fresh air

    • @afterhoursgarage920
      @afterhoursgarage920  19 дней назад

      Correct. That is why the after intercooler charge pipe diverts into the the turbosmart ALV40 that’s plumbed into the exhaust manifold. This isn’t a twin wastegate manifold as I was able to achieve great wastegate priority that only requires one. So the second actuator is for allowing the compressed fresh air into the exhaust system where it’ll ignite with unburned fuel and a hot manifold, therefore creating fresh air antilag.
