On year 3 of ownership of 2012 t6 R-design, other than suspension component replacement from enjoying the car too much, only major issues have been transmission leaks from cooler lines and constant strut tower mount replacement as this car loves to destroy them. There are some intermittent electrical problems with lack of media center audio output that can be fixed by cycling car off and on again. As well my backup camera despises hot days like yours and figits a bunch if left in the sun too long. However, all that changes when you take her to the snow where it will literally outperform every other car or truck, an animal in wintery conditions! Only car I have ever hit black ice in at speed, that spun out and straightened itself again, without making any collisions, only to continue driving like nothing happened less than a quarter mile later. Brilliant safety and power.
Awesome video! I have the 2012 s60 rd in black. I couldn’t stand the stock rims so I purchased the polestar rims like you were thinking about getting and I think it’s definitely worth it! The black rims and white body look awesome on yours for sure tho 🔥 right now I’m running the polestar tune with the tdi tuner box piggybacking on that along with the kpax exhaust and elevate air intake. This car stock was a beast since stock but now it’s pretty much my dream. Much love to Casper 👊
You also need to change your pcv oil trapper , it’s essential in these cars ! If you don’t do it you’ll be leaking oil from everywhere, specially if you have over 100 000 miles.
You should also change the PCV-hoses and clear out the returnpipe, they're often clogged. It's a simple and cheap fix, but most people don't care about it and end up with more expensive repairs, due to engine oil leaks.
To any potential buyers beware the inline fuses on the positive battery cable. One is before the starter and the other before the main fusebox. These can and will break, causing your car to 1.) act like the starter is dead, a lot of times the fuse blows due to an aging starter pulling too much current. Or 2.) kill all of the systems tied to the main fuse box, including the immobilizer. This caused my car to be bricked and undrivable for 2 weeks while I waited for the part. This has been the biggest headache I’ve had during my ownership. 115k and still going 🤞
you may be able to get one of the newer p3 steering wheels with paddles and install it. I did that on a 2015 v60 and it was plug and play, don't know about 2013 tho I would check on swedespeed.
I absolutely love the way these cars look with a facelift and don’t get me wrong the T6 engine i great performance wise and it sounds good but I can’t get over the way the old 5 cylinders sound and I love manual transmission’s. If they would’ve made a modern “s60r” with this generation having a 300+ hp 5 cylinder with a manual transmission I would’ve switched to this platform a long time ago. The t5 engine they came with had bad piston rings and a minuscule power output
I’m paying almost 5 dollars a gallon for fuel I want that car be as loud as fucking impossible I want everyone to hear it every single dime come out of that exhaust LOL
@@BernonCars If I had more resources I'd probably own a bunch of random vehicles I see you review. One day I'm like, "I'm definitely getting a Jaguar XK" and then a week later: "I'm definitely getting a Volvo XC90". If I had the resources I'd have a yard full of vehicles. I've got a 2012 Lexus CT200h and a 2012 Chevy Silverado at present. I've owned some to me special cars like the 2003 Lincoln Town car, 2003 Grand Prix with the legendary 3.8L Chevy engine, 2003 Infiniti QX4, 2001 Lexus GS300(awesome car), 1992 Lexus LS400 and a 1986 Acura Integra. My favorite was the LS400.
Looks to me like the intake that cracked was 3D printed! You can see the layer lines when you zoom in- it would've cost only PENNIES for whoever sold it to make in that case, quite a shame though :( UV and heat aren't kind to 3d prints!
I notice al these vids of modern S60s are never "5 year update" or anything over 100k miles. Then you read the comments and figure out these are long term money pits. Sad. I really dont want a mazda6 :( My current car is a SAABaru from 2005. Almost zero issues! Rubbers changed out and basic maintenance plus good cleaning internals once year.
Thank you! I’d say I got bored of it. Mostly because I didn’t need something to do a normal commute anymore because I’m doing YT full time, so I want something more sporty.
I wouldn’t call that a “cold” air intake. I’m sure it sounds cool, but it’s sucking in hot engine air. The factory box draws outside air from the grill. There’s a polestar cold air that’s functional but it’s stupid money.
Dear volvo we want manuals and DSGs. Please, please and please. Here me out volvo !!!! Volvo should get performanced focused i really think they could do well.
Generally for all Volvo engines (except the Ford developed ones), they'll last forever as long as you maintain them. Most importantly change the timing belt, the PCV hoses, oil trap and clean out it's return pipe within service intervals. Obviously also do oil changes, filters and gearbox oil, everything is quite simple and cheap on Volvos. I had a first gen s80 t6 with 480 000km on it, the engine was running really good, but the gearbox broke (GM 4-Speed automatic)
Bought my own identical model almost a year ago with 62k miles. Your video definitely influenced the purchase so thanks!
Same here but v60
How has been the reliability guys
Have t6 2012, incredibly fast. Comfortable seats, nice dash, computer. Lowered it with 19, Bathurst rims. Like the looks
Wish it was a manual.
Is it reliable asking because i want this as a first car buying in 2 days
@@giovanniduarte7468They are very reliable long as you treat it right.
Love your P3! I love our 2014 S60 T6 with Sport Chassis and Polestar Optimization. The past 4 months with it have been fantastic!
I can’t wait to see it! 😋

I totally believed in you !!!!
No bragging here, just the truth....
Ive owned my 2013 s60 r design for over two years and its been great, other than regular maintenance its been reliable
Nice thats good to hear!
This car is a masterpiece
It really is
@@BernonCars your videos are great! We can really feel your passion
I have a 2012 T6 I have owned since new. My big replace was the front seat cover after 126,000 miles
Just bought my r design with 110k miles 3 weeks ago. So far i love it.
That's great!! Enjoy it!
What kind of plastic dip was on the wheels? Did it hold up well I'm thinking about doing mine. @@BernonCars
@nate_23 yeah it was just grey plasti dip! Followed a RUclips video haha. They held up pretty well but paint is definitely a better option
@@BernonCars eventually I wanna get new wheels or fix my curb marks from the previous owner so it's more of a temporary thing.
Glad to see the S60 again
Indeed
ONLY 8K? I only see them for double that in 2023 lmao
Its crazy how prices have chanced since before Covid
Hearing that S60 R drive around in your driveway it reminds me of how the 3.2’s sound though the displacement is about a 0.2l difference.
approaching 1 year with my 2013 s60 r-design polestar. Also named casper! Fucking love my damn car so fucking much. Shes my baby.
I need to know more about the car
I got the 2015 s60 t5 in black w black interior a few days ago I'm loving it
Sweet!
check your vaccum pump seal, it often leaks and it can make its way all the way to to bottom of the car
Good to know!
Very nice car. Definitely Volvo's best engine/chassis combo imo. Did you end up doing trans drain/refill and haldex fluid change?
Thank you! Really is. I haven’t had the chance yet! Doing it this summer before any serious driving

would you recommend a 2015 t6 awd r design? im debating on buying one with 76k miles
I would! The T6 is an excellent engine
I recommend too.
My friend has got an 2013 ocean race and he has also got the problem with the bluetooth connection. It is fixed on my a bit newer 2015 v60
Check the oil leak on the brake vacuum booster pump. It's common for 3.2 and your 3.0 T6. You need to replace the seals on the pump.
Bought a 2011 v60 t6 yesterday, let's hope it doesn't blow up :D

2013 throwback with the intro music.. 😛

Excellent review. 👍

how much oil does it consume in 10,000km. Mine 2013 t6 (not r design) consumes around 2-3L per 10.000 km/ 5w30 oil i use
Check the cam seal it can be mistaken for the rear main seal

Very nice review n info on the p3 R design. Question I have a s60R now how would you say the T6 dose against it in straight line performance?
I’ve actually had both too! The T6 is definitely faster. I prefer the P2R because of the manual trans though
Are the cross-bars noisy in the wind?
They did make more noise but honestly not too bad. The car's sound deadening was top notch so it never bothered me me!
