I can tell you what went wrong. Dodgers broke Machado, that's it. And he gets all his teammate lemmings to get involved on his personal beef with dodgers because they had absolutely no use for him (machado) at all. And so when padres play dodgers they throw out any semblance of being professional ball players and act like typical thugs. Being a holes doesn't win you a championship.

2:38 crappy splitter? He has the highest rated splitter in the world. His issue is whenever he faces the Padres they lay off of it nearly 100% of the time. Like they knew what was coming. Fact is the Dodgers believed that he was tipping his pitches and the padres had it figured out. He has an ERA of around 2.60 vs every team not named the Padres. Prior to the game 5 start they believed they figured out how he was tipping

Game 3 was the turning point. Even though the Dodgers lost. They didn’t fold like teams past. Past Dodger teams would give up and get beat 11-3 in that scenario but not this year. Teoscar’s Slam was the momentum changer even though they lost. It put the padres on their heels for the rest of the game.

When the Padres talked trash, they woke the sleeping giant, poked the bear, grabbed the tiger by the tail, played with fire, opened Pandora's box, bit off more than they could chew, walked into the lion's den, shot themself in the foot, stole John Wick's car and killed his dog, stepped on Elvis's blue suede shoes, put a hit on Vito Corleone, lit the fuse, said hello to Tony Montana's little friend, drank the Kool-aid, unleashed the Kraken, wrote a check they could not cash, crossed the Rubicon, told Tommy Devito to go home and get his shinebox, leaped before looking, painted themself into a corner, tried to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, called Marty McFly a chicken, rocked the boat, got their just deserts, stepped on a crack, pissed off Bruce Banner, did not stay in their lane and know their role, assassinated Archduke Ferdinand, ate the poison apple, told Fonzie he was wrong, had a plan but was punched in the mouth by Mike Tyson, activated karma and Murphy’s Law upon themselves, captained the Exxon Valdez, touched a nerve, messed with the wife of a jealous man, jumped out of the frying pan into the fire, checked into the Hotel California, counted their chickens before they hatched, put their foot in their mouth, brought a knife to a gunfight, missed the boat, was caught with their pants down, ran into a brick wall, let the dogs out, bombed Pearl Harbor, broke a mirror, walked under a ladder, crossed paths with a black cat, dug their own grave, barked up the wrong tree, snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, did not look both ways before crossing the street, looked a gift horse in the mouth, stirred up a hornet's nest, called the kettle black, was struck by lightning, bit the hand that feeds them, dropped a bar of soap in a men's prison shower, brought cannabis to Russia in luggage, screwed the pooch, made it completely FUGAZI and FUBAR, went on a fool’s errand, let the fox in the henhouse, built castles out of sand, ran with scissors, licked a frozen pole, put themselves in harm’s way, judged a book by its cover, was blinded by the light, put all their eggs in one basket, took the blue pill, effed around and found out, cried over spilt milk, got a taste of their own medicine, gave up their day job, went on a wild goose chase, smoked at a gas station, kicked against the goads, played in traffic, ran with the bulls, stepped on a rake, texted while drinking and driving, tempted fate, pissed in their own pool, threw caution to the wind, painted a bullseye on their back, slipped on a banana peel, dropped the ball, stirred the pot, crossed wires, swam with the sharks, danced with the devil, did not keep Will Smith’s wife’s name out of their mouth, tripped over a land mine, became a fly in the ointment, a monkey in the wrench and a pain in the ass, went down in flames, fell from grace, took a long walk on a short pier, got their comeuppance, plowed another man’s field, threw good money after bad, faced the music, fell into quicksand, burned their bridges, went to a Diddy freak off party, did not play with a full deck, sowed the wind and reaped the whirlwind, went up the creek without a paddle, had their goose cooked, played Russian Roulette with a fully loaded gun, got hoisted on their own petard, doused fire with gasoline, cut off their nose to spite their face, fell on their sword, pooped their pants, crapped the bed, threw stones in a glass house, told Clint Eastwood they feel lucky, invested in Enron stock, sailed aboard the Titanic, tugged on Superman's cape, spit into the wind, pulled the mask off the old Lone Ranger and messed around with Jim

Absolutely, this is one of many reasons to shore up with 3-4 great pitchers for 765 mil rather than dish out to one dude. The Mets have enough weapons already, getting better at pitching will put them over the hump, maybe. Getting out of that division is not a guarantee, let alone another roadblock in the Dodgers.

Pretty simple really. It started with a motorcycle accident and a case of ringworm. Then add in a mega trade where you mortgage the future. Sprinkle in a massive contract paying a mid tier SS like a HOF SS and after one season he regresses even more to the level of a mid tier 2B. This regression forces you to move your all-star 2B where his contract matches his offensive production over to 1B where his power numbers don’t equal that of an $80mil player. Top it off by trading away the generational talent you mortgaged the farm for less than 2 years later and give a 10 year extension to the aging 3B so he can fade into oblivion alongside the aging 2B you also overpaid for as the prime years of your young superstar OFs are wasted.

Dodgers never thought Padres as competitor. It was always the rivalry against the Giants. San Diegans are too mellow in general. Since I left I had no idea how Padre fan have evolved into this fanatical. I guess they have not much else going on. No NBA and no NFL to watch I guess.

2:20 that is the entire Dodgers philosophy with starting pitching whether its game 1 of the regular season or the playoffs. Its why they have an entire allstar rotation on the IL. Its why the hardest throwing rotation in the world during the 2023 season was the Dodgers AAA rotation and now in 2024 four of the hardest throwing guys in that rotation are recovering from major surgery (Frasso Sheehan Ryan and Hurt) Knack is the only AAA starter from 2023 to avoid the operating room.

Pitching to Shoei in the first game with two outs should have walked him. Spending too much time talking with Dodger fans and not focusing on the game. Not being able to hit the bullpen at all. Not making any adjustments from hitting to changing the line-up. Off-season the whole team needs to work on the slider outside, and the team needs to be more disciplined at the plate.

I’m a life long Dodger fan that moved to SD, so I have a love for the Pads too.
What Pads are going through is the reality check of being a good team - the reality being, its hard to win the WS…very hard. It’s not enough to simply be a great team with lots of mojo - there simply has to be some October magic, and its a grind to keep your eye on the prize
I think the Pads from fan to front office simply weren’t acting like they’d been there before, despite having a run in 2022.
Chalk it up to paying your dues, you’ll get there eventually, provided the organization makes a culture out of fielding good teams year in year out
