There simply isn't enough real news being reported to warrant 24/7 coverage from "Professional Journalists" or pundits. True journalism has a high standard to uphold, even if most of society has been conditioned to dismiss it. Professional TV journalism died with Peter Jennings. At his worst, he was boring. He also wasn't a round-the-clock supermodel sensationalist, which is something I find myself respecting more as I get older.
The real issue is that for journalism ~not what goes on the 24 hours mind you but actual honest to god journalism~ is a slow, methodical process that can take years to fully uncover the story. Most people neither have the patience nor the tolerance for that so instead they just go and listen to what they want to hear from their source of choice so as to reinforce their preconceived point of view.
He's not very funny, and not politically astute. Unlike Stewart, who still made the jokes but actually cared about the underlying issues, Noah just reads what his writers tell him to read.
