- Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are nearly 6 years old now, the beloved remakes of Ruby and Sapphire. Generation 3 nostalgia seems to be the most nostalgic generation right behind generation 1, mainly due to Ruby and Sapphire being a lot of people's first Pokemon games. Today we will be discussing a lot about ORAS, what makes them so great, as well as their differences from Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.

Still surprises me how many people HATE the 3ds pokemon games. Sure they're a little easier than previous generations and gen 7's cutscenes are excessive, but they're still fun games.

@@PaPaSea I agree with this so much you have no idea. I don't believe there's a bad pokemon game, I think what makes a game better than another has to be nostalgia. Each one is different with some sort of it's own thing which makes it good in the end of the day. I've never seen a old pokemon review except ign's everyone else just makes a retro review which in my opinion is biased. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is how I feel.

Alpha Sapphire was my first Pokemon game, and still my favorite. It's one of those games I can pick up any day and feel happy doing so.
I have that exact feeling, but with the original Sapphire. I do like oras, but nostalgia is doing it's thing
Omega ruby was my first and only Pokémon game, I loved the game a lot but I can’t find my old game cartridge for my DS so I guess I will never see my Pokémon again

I see soaring as an amazing trade off. Soaring kinda made ORAS the first open world Pokemon games.
I still remember getting this game with my birthday money like a year after the release, the countless hours of joy this game has brought to me and my friends. This game is most certainly one of my favourite pokemon games . I remember replaying the game tons of times, im actually going to replay it now haha. Also great video
I almost didn’t play these games because of how bad X and Y turned out to be, but I’m glad I decided to do it. The Delta episode is a great ending to the game, the graphics were so much better than X and Y, chaining Pokémon in this game was so much fun, and megas were even better this time around. I also genuinely got invested in the story of this game, which made it stand out to me more. While I personally didn’t enjoy the music because of its overuse of the French horn and trumpet, and that is coming from someone who plays the trumpet, a few of the tracks like Littleroot Town, Verdanturf Town, and Fallarbor Town were excellent. If you haven’t already played these games, give them a shot, I don’t think you will regret it!
Logan Plays Pokémon I personally don’t agree, but that’s ok. There were way too many things that ruined the game for me to enjoy it.

@@apollojustice5338 XY has flaws, glaring flaws but the soundtrack is amazing Shalour City, Anistar City, Route 15, Geosenge town and others that I forgot the name of. The soundtrack for xy is pretty good definitely top 5
As someone who grew up on RSE, I actually noticed a distinct _lack_ of those instruments, which is part of the reason why I gave a grudge against ORAS. It lacks _all_ of the power that the original soundtrack had, and not having a "GBA radio" like in HGSS made it even worse. Wally's battle theme was the rotten cherry on top because it just _really_ didn't fit in with the whole Hoenn atmosphere. I hated it as soon as I heard it.
If it wasn’t this good, Shaymay wouldn’t have made a 7 hour review of it.

I had some fond memories of this game. It was so awesome back in the day. It was the first pokemon game i played legit without an emulator so it holds a special place in my heart.
Honestly Gen 3 is my favourite especially Pokémon Ruby so it's nice to see people give it some love, remake or not it's still the best
I still believe that not having battle frontier hold the game back from being S-tier like Heartgold/Soulsilver

Nintendo gave away ORAS by removing a lot hoenn pokemon from pokemon X and Y. Nintendo is giving away DP remakes by removing sinnoh pokemon from SS.
I always have a 3rd game problem because sometimes they barely add new content and charge full price.
same the only enhanced version i like is usum, crystal emerald and platinum barely add anything and b2w2 arent "3rd/enhanced versions" they are sequels. usum added 5 new mons all legendaries back into the game 3 new forms and wormhole shiny hunting which is a really cool improvement, the story got harder because of ultra necrozma and harder totem pokemon but they did remove some important scenes from s/m.
@@bidinga1480 Ok emerald added a ton of new stuff as well as changing the base up quite a bit. In Ruby and Sapphire you deal with one of the two teams while in emerald you have to fight both. The conflict with the legends is different as a result of this as now both Groudon and Kyogre were to be dealt with, leading to the inclusion of rayquaza into the story. This is without mentioning the battle frontier which added even more content.

Omega Ruby was the first game I got a shiny pokemon. It was a Shiny Latios that was given for free in that Steven cutscene place. I didn't do soft resets or any other game manipulation. Just playing the game for fun. What's funny was that I didn't realize it was shiny at first. I just thought the color was off like it was a problem of my cartridge until I looked it up online. Good times. 🤣

I actually learned to appreciate the alternate universe thing with the games though. With the whole Salon Maiden Anabel story line with her falling through a wormhole and ending up in the current Pokémon universe where there is no battle frontier, mega evolutions are a thing, etc. For me it ties up the loose ends from ORAS. I was absolutely stunned when I looked into her appearing in Sun and Moon’s battle tree with her original theme playing for her fight. I ended up being okay with what otherwise would’ve been a cop out
The no battle frontier thing isn’t a universe difference, in ORAS the battle frontier doesn’t exist yet, similar to how it didn’t exist yet in ruby and sapphire. It’s not a very satisfying answer for why there isn’t a battle frontier, but it is cool that the game tells you that the frontier is under construction and you can find an NPC talking about Scott scouting frontier brains.
I mean they were the best games. I almost started crying when I saw the opening scene with the pond in 3d for the first time
OrAs are my favourite Pokemon games and what I consider the best Pokemon games as they were my first

I just went back to ORAS after a number of years and I think they may be my favorite games in the series- they were the first I got really into, so I have a lot of nostalgia for them, and they’re really solid games too.
The only thing that’s bad: They Didn’t Include the Game Corner.
Emerald replaces Steven with Wallace as champion due to how well Blaziken did against the Elite Four and Champion, being able to sweep 3/5 of the trainers pretty much.
Blaziken has problems with the 3 finals gym leaders xd
This was my second Pokémon game (first being shield) . I must say this game made me go from liking Pokémon to adoring them. The music and the story really captivated me. As a beginner game, I don’t see a more perfect game to make some love the franchise.
Old RS was a game I would play over and over again, while OR was the Pokemon game I have put the most hours into and the only one I completed the Pokédex (kinda regret restarting that save file).
With the Eshop closing I picked up AS and playing it now, it really was the last Pokemon game that felt actually good 💙
I'm a big fan of pokemon and have watched every anime episode from gen1 to 6, and 3 weeks ago, I got my first pokemon game which was alpha sapphire and I the Delta episode is my favourite part, and I had fun collecting the legandaries, I just started playing pokemon Diamond, hopefully it's just as good or better.
I've played every generation of pokemon and alpha sapphire was one of the most fun experiences when it first came out! I love these games too.
However, gen 4 and 5 are my definite favorites
I'm a big fan of story and gameplay, so I'm looking forward to gen 5

I remember hearing that the reason Wallace became champion in Emerald was for balancing. Prior to the change, someone could use blaziken and have type advantage against 3/5 trainers in the league

Re: alternate universes, if the Delta Episode is right, every single instance of every single Pokemon game is its own universe. ORAS and XY are in different universes from RSE but also from each other (and from every other copy of themselves)
I like how it took the art style of the remakes to why people to appreciate these games
Flying above Hoenn on your Lati after summoning it with the Eon Flute is an amazing quality of life change that not only removes the need for the Fly HM to be represented on your team, but is a new way to see the region and access the daily changing areas without relying on physical routes to connect them. It’s a fast travel system that you still need to put some work in, but you can get to any town, city, route and cave entrance on the overworld with it and gives you scale for the verticality of specific areas. You can see Mt Chimney tower over north-eastern Hoenn and need to fly around or above it if you wish to get to the other side. It’s the best implementation of the Fly mechanic across the main series games and has great potential as a chase setting. Imagine tracking a roaming Pokemon across the skies of the region, or catching up to an airship that serves as a location for an evil team encounter.
The types of movement could be expanded for underwater environments as well. It’s a shame Gamefreak haven’t tapped into this potential as it’s a feature I’d enjoy playing with.
I feel like graphically the only thing that annoys me in ORAS is how blocky everything looks. I get making a 2D game into a 3D game is tough but I feel like they could have tried harder.
That is mainly an issue of the 3DS hardware. If you play them on an emulator with a selectable resolution like Citra, it looks much better.
@@Omagadam1 I think they are referring to the actual layout and design of the game rather than pure graphics and resolution. I think they could’ve done more to make it seem like a really world than needing a grid system with so many right corners (closer to sun and moon)

@@idreadFell365 Dialgia, Palkia and Giratina were already shown in the new expansion trailer of SwSh. I doubt they would do they if they were gonna make a remake of gen 4. Theres no reason for a remake now since those trio are gonna be obtainable in SwSh which is kinda sad. I really like DPPt and HGSS combo.

I know what your point is "Then why did they made ORAS then?" Well to be exact you cant trade HGSS to XY. You have to trade from HGSS to B2W2 then pokebank then to XY.

I still prefer XY but ORAS are undoubtedly great games. When I played RSE in GBA I didn’t feel the same fun and enjoyment like I felt with these remakes. The all fast pace gameplay (brought from XY) helps you don’t get tired of the games and the exploration factor in Hoenn is much better now.
The only problem is that the battling metagame gave a stepback from XY. The battle scenario is full of Mega Rayquaza, Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre that make the The things repetitive and less creative. Although the new Megas were a big improvement to the competitive, I still prefer the healthy balance that XY gave to us.
I like them both really like the aesthetics of x and y.
in my opinion oras is the one of the best pokemon games alongside bw2/hgss/usum

6th gen: Mega Evolution
7th gen: Z-Move
8th gen: Gigantimax
I don't feel like Sun and Moon really needed to focus more on mega evolution since they have something special or unique to them such as Z-moves.

Sadly, my copy of Omega Ruby is unreadable, having several shinies, mythicals, legendaries, and had every single available mega stone. It even had Hoopa from the McDonald’s Event, and Mew from the anniversary mythicals event. This video helped me remember all of this, and made me love this game once again
For me I lost my original copy and then when I got a second one, I lost that too

It upsets me that I agree with the title of this video. I don't even think I like Hoen as a region but for some reason I've played it the most out of any region. Sapphire once, Emerald Twice, Alpha Sapphire twice. Ive only played X and moon once and didn't even buy ultra moon.

Eusine, Lyra, Mt. Silver, most of postgame, notably Safari Zone as well as Kanto, PokéGear, without mentionning the Pokéwalker:
most of this shit wasn't in the base game, or at least weren't that great compared to the remaked version. HGSS *is* a reimagined version of GS, with implementing lots of content as well as things exclusive to Crystal prior to that.
But I agree ORAS are, indeed, the most enjoyable 3DS Pokemon game. But I mean, XY set the bar really low.
