@@johhada9304 because they all either have huge flaws, underwhelming pokemon, unlikable characters, bad plots, or unbelievable easy trainer battles. The originals were still fun with a good plot, great characters and pokemon, challenging battles and good pacing. General opinion will change in a few years. Remember how everyone used to despise Gen 5? I'm sure that soon enough, many people will come back to praise what XY got right.
@Tiffany Wart I should be concerned about that stroke you had at the end, but basically the general opinion in the early-mid 2010s was that Gen 5 was the low point for Pokemon. You see, child, there were once these things called "90s kids" who were salty milennials who worshipped anything from the 1990s. A prominent subsection of the 90s kids were genwunners (gen-one-ers) who were incredibly nostalgic about the Kanto Pokemon games and hated all Pokemon games after that. These people were so angry and spiteful that they make the Minecraft/ Fortnite feud seem like a tea party. Also back in these days, it was an unspoken rule that 9-year olds weren't allowed on the internet, much less share their opinions here. Much like the dinosaurs in prehistoric time, those boomers ruled the internet at the time but today 90s kids are mere relics. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.
@@Legoluigi26 i honestly think if XY were harder, they were not bad. I really liked the skates, customization, and 3d aspect of it. It wasnt even too handholdy like sun moon, just too easy.
@@Legoluigi26 I never despised gen 5 (at worst, I thought it was good but "too much", something that pokemon desperately need now) and I still hate gen 6. Actually, my opinion of this gen worsen each year.

The trainer customisation would have been more fun if incorporated with the Looker Missions, like needing to wear a certain style to progress the plot. As great as it is, it doesn’t affect gameplay.
They were by far the best part of the game imo. Gave some depth to otherwise forgettable characters, and made me appreciate the Looker in his later and former recurring roles.
People trashed Black and White 2 because they were sick of third versions (sentiment confirmed when USUM came out). So releasing a shitty 3rd version especially for the 20th anniversary would have been very stupid.
Kind of funny, when you consider the X Y and Z titles are likely referring to Pokemon going 3D and adding the Z axis. Guess they're actually still flat.

I'm telling you, X & Y had this atmospheric feel to it that distinguishes it from other games, making it quite an interesting addition. It's hard to explain on my end, but even knowing the flaws X & Y had, there's always some intrigue that keeps you invested as you progress through the Kalos region. Music's kinda fire in these games too. 😎👌 Bottomline? I agree with this video. 😊👍
I hate that they give you kanto starters, give them all Megas and give mewtwo and Charizard 2. Why 2? Still giving gen 1 special treatment, and there were barely any new Pokemon, and they give a mega lucario to you, yeah I do feel that these games are way too easy. But I wouldn’t call them the worst since they added mega evolutions and had a nice region, I would say sword and shield are the worst in the series
@@rlm7170 eh....true fair enoough those are flaws. But I feel like the lesser amount of new pokemon I can forgive. As it was like quality control and they had to work on making the 3d models to. Gen 1 special treatment STARTED with XY so there isn't any "still" in there. I liked getting the mega lucario really honestly, it worked well with the plot of you learning about mega evolution really
@@Jdudec367 well there is a still in there because In gen 2 you could go back to kanto because the original kanto games were very successful. Also gen 2 is also one of the worst gens in the series (not heart gold or soul silver they improved it a lot)

So I don't think it was all just because kanto was so successful...maybe? But I dunno for sure really
gen 6 brought me back to pokemon after i went through my "i'm too old for pokemon!" phase. they aren't perfect, but they still hold a special place in my heart
I loved this game. They introduced original starter, mega evolution, and that's my country. I'm just disapointed they didn't make a pokemon Z with the south of the france, i can't really relate with this region because of this. And by the way, the south of the france is WAY better than north and Paris.
I never got the "It's a kids game so we have to hand hold" logic. I grew up with the NES and at that era video games as a whole were considered a kids toy and those games did not hold your hand at all.
same.. when i was a kid most of the games i played were in english.. i could only read dutch so i often had to figure things out without the text.. and the thing is i did figure it out even without the game telling me i should go here or there
I'm willing to wager not many people notice that. The GTS has always been a joke, and battlers pretty much only care about battle. Even then, plenty of them would rather play Showdown.
I also like it. After gen 4, gen 6 is my favorite. Also, the lack of Pokémon Z is my hate for GF origin story. The years after gen 6 have just make my hate grow stronger
@TheEdgy Weeb I meant I don't like the fans giving me reasons to hate Gen 6, even if it's my favorite. I don't hate the other games, I happen to love DPPT and FRLG too
My general thought is that, generally, the first games of a new generation are very unfinished. Everyone knows about the memory issues in gold and silver, ruby and sapphire have no post game aside from catching the Eon Twin, Diamond and Pearl are super slow and buggy, BW are generally fine, and XY have tons of just like missing parts of the Kalos regions and legendary selection is poor. The lack of a third game makes people hate on XY and I don't expect that to change going forward. Kids who were 10 when BW came out are now in high school or college and are posting on the internet so it will be a while before XY gets this "demographic nostalgia buff." I've played all the main series games except Yellow but I don't really remember XY very fondly. I nuzlocked X once after beating Y and nuzlocking X with the Exp Share is very very easy compared to nuzlocking a Gen III or Gen V game.
The thing is, it's pretty obvious they made XY with Z in mind, there are just too many loose ends to XY. It's not that fans are just being entitled Zygarde was introduced, hyped up, had different forms. Much like kyurem with BW. Clearly pointing towards Z, but it was later rushed in future games as a unimportant side quest It was datamined that you would be able to get AZ's flowette, but oddly nothing came of it and it's still not legitimately accessable and probably never will be The accessible, but locked, doors of route 13 connected to large buildings Smogon even made a good theory that the Couriway Town Train Station was gonna work like a battle frontier There's just too many unexplained/unused parts that it makes XY feel unfinished
@@almond3066 I mean....no one is saying the fans are entitled. I've heard the couriway town train station would lead to another region. It's clear pokemon z or actually a xy sequel was planned and to this day it's one of pokemon's biggest mysterious overall of what would've happened.

Pokémon Z or even Pokémon X VERSION 2 and Pokémon Y VERSION 2 could have fleshed out the origin of zygarde since zygarde is the third legendary of the aura trio alongside its two members xerneas and yveltal and it is known as the order pokemon, the guardian of the earth and balance life and death and the haunted house actually predicts zygarde since he said something about a horde of faceless man and 50% zygarde have 5 serpent heads at the back of 50% zygarde and complete form zygarde have 5 heads, 1 humanoid head and 4 serpent heads and zygarde is a 6 headed serpent dragon, 50% zygarde have 6 heads and complete form zygarde also have 6 heads and Pokémon Z could have added new areas to explore and newer towns and cities in kalos and southern kalos is questionable because there’s should be new towns and cities to explore in southern kalos if Pokémon Z or Sequels like Pokémon X VERSION 2 and Pokémon Y VERSION 2 ever happened, kalos would have been one of the best regions in Pokémon because kalos is actually among the best regions in terms of exploration and Pokémon Z could have unlocked the locked power plant and allowed us to explore it and maybe in Pokémon Z or Pokémon X VERSION 2 Pokémon Y VERSION 2, we started in a new hometown, and visited new towns and cities in southern kalos and maybe revisit the older towns and cities such as in postgame of Pokémon Z or even Pokémon X VERSION 2 and Pokémon Y VERSION 2 such as geosenge town and ambrette town, and maybe added more dungeons and caves and more routes in kalos and tons of older legendaries to catch in the postgame and maybe a battle frontier, if that had happened, kalos would have been the best region period. The games are okay, but there's not a lot of replayability. Also, if we're gonna have multiple rivals I want them to be stronger and one of them to be evil.
LMAO i have 700+ hours put into Y, taking that number directly from my 3ds logs that show u how long youve played a game in total, probably the most replayable games for myself but thats just me. and agreed with what u said about the rivals, 2 nice ones was lame
Even though I'm about halfway through Pokémon X and I love it so far, one thing I've noticed with the all the generations past gen 2 is that you seem to meet a rival who's more on the cutesy side and just wants to casually battle you as opposed to having a rival who's either a jerk or arrogant. And with rivals that were jerks it felt like more was at stake, more intense and you just felt like you absolutely had to win and upstage your rival.

How to improve XY: -There's a Z expansion alongside ORAS that provide the new Mega Evolutions. Your rivals get better roles: -Shauna becomes the Secret Base rival; she helps you increase your Pokemon's friendship / affect, and helps you increase your style with customization and accessories. -Tierno becomes the Contests rival; he becomes a move tutor and gives you new battle themes and backgrounds. -Trevor becomes your Pokedex rival; he gives you furniture and helps you train your Pokemon with Ability Capsules, Train Bags, vitamins, or even find new Mega Stones and hordes. -Calem / Serena becomes the main rival; he / she constantly pushes you to get better and helps you stop the villain team. -Gym Leader rematches being more difficult in Battle Chateau with teams of 5-6 Pokemon like in previous games. -Elite 4 getting 5-6 Pokemon in the rematches with at least one Mega like in ORAS. -Exp. Share gets balanced like in following games, with an option to turn it on only for the last member of the party. -Musketeers are moved from BW to XY, making more sense to be in France than in the USA. -Besides Looker's postgame, we get a Southern Kalos episode where we get to fight the other 50% Zygarde and complete the 100% forme, as well as the 10% where we get to see more from the lesser used Team Flare members, and characters like your rivals or Dexio and Sina actually doing something. -As a National Pokedex bonus, we get AZ Floette, and Mythical Pokemon are distributed in-game with a QR code like they did with Magearna in SM. -Chesnaught and Delphox also get Battle Bond forms. XY unfortunately were rushed. They were the first mainline 3D Pokemon games, and because of all the complains of BW having bad Pokemon designs and people wanting nostalgia they chose to give that to players. With another year of development (or a DLC/Expansion), they would have created the game Kalos deserved. I feel they get overhated just for how easy they are and the forgettable some characters are, but man, people would't really care for Hoenn or Sinnoh (or even Galar) if it wasn't for the expansions. XY is one of the best launch sets of the franchise, only beaten by Gold/Silver, Black/White, and on par with Sun/Moon, but even then they are pretty decent games to say the least. It's a shame we couldn't actually see what they could have done...
the only problems i had with the game really was that you had wayyyyy too many rivals to face and the game was way too easy for you to see it as a challenge
@Gabriel Mota to be honest I love x and y mostly because how much it’s criticized made me realize all the amazing qualities such as amazing graphics and music even compared to other Pokémon games As well as just being an extremely polished game that’s fun to pick up and have a good time
@@NoOne-hx9ir that is bullshit, no way can you get level 70 80 or 90 pokemon before 8 badges with little grinding, when i played x and y i had to grind quite a few times just the match the gyms level and that was with exp share on all the time i was rarely over leveled. 4:04 "Team Flare has the most devastating motives in all of Pokemon". *cough cough!* *Team Galactic:* Let us introduce ourselves and reset the entire universe to build a new one in our image.
Teams with the most devastating motives in all Pokémon (in my opinion): 1. Team Galatic (they almost destroyed the entire universe) 2. Team Aqua/Magma (they almost destroyed the entire world waking up groundon/kyogre) 3. Team flare (they almost killed a lot of people)
@@banana-uo3be More then that still, Team Flare didn't just want to kill a lot of people... Lysandre wanted ALL Pokemon to go extinct because he knew people would always abuse their power to hurt others.
X was the first Pokémon game I clocked 999:59 in, and completed a living National dex in. The story didn’t really enthrall me (and I only played through it once, when it came out in 2013), but the online system was so easy and fun to use that I just found myself returning again and again. With other games, like for example SoulSilver, once I beat the post game it’s basically over. But in X I had so much to do: Battle online, mainly shiny hunt in so many different ways, trade for hours on Wonder Trade. I literally still turn on my 3DS like once a week and just chill on X, hatch eggs and do whatever.
@Tiffany Wart as someone who's playing soulsilver rn.. no, you dont lol. I'm barely grinding and the one problem gym was whitney (because of that awful miltank), and all im doing is choosing the moves that do the most damage
@Tiffany Wart I am very late to this but most older games just relied on grinding for difficulty. Grinding isn’t hard it just takes patience. X and y were easy tho but still I don’t want the notion that “you need to grind to beat a gym” to become the norm.
I've been playing Pokemon since Red and Blue came out, and Pokémon XY is my favorite Pokémon game, full stop. I adore the region as a whole, I have so many amazing memories attached to this game, I made friends that are still close friends to this day, and it had a wonderful competitive metagame, and this was the game that got me into playing competitive Pokémon in a serious way. I've also put more hours into it that any other games I've played. The biggest thing is, Pokémon Z REALLY needed to happen. The Kalos region had some awesome lore and potential that just went completely unfulfilled, and things like Zygarde's forms and Ash-Greninja that really should have been part of Gen 6 were just stapled awkwardly onto Sun and Moon. Regardless, these games will always have a place in my heart
Man, your comment is perfect! It described everything I felt playing Pokémon X. I will never forget those games as The best pokemon experience I EVER had (and I played every single game of The core series).
I’m so glad X and Y is finally getting some love. I’ve seen so much hate on this Gen and while I do acknowledge it shortcomings, I wouldn’t call it a bad Gen. I still think Kalos is one of the best regions, visually speaking. It’s home to one of my favorite Pokemon, Greninja, and I still think Mega Evolution is the best new feature introduced in Pokemon battling compared to Dynamax.
Its more of a linear process if you ask me. -the game is rated as the best one yet when it comes out -about a year later everyone starts to turn on it -roughly when a new generation is revealed people have since decided they hate the game -the next seven or so years are spent either trashing or forgetting the game -about a decade in, people in high-school/early into college who started with the game will defend it as the best one ever because of nostalgia -once the nostalgia fest evens out, the game is mostly looked at with indifference, like "oh yeah, that one. It was alright/meh." And thats it
As an older Pokémon fan, I enjoy X&Y. Getting them alongside the gen 3 remakes I found myself playing them just as much. I know there are many things to dislike about the games, but I’m the type of person to find my fun, not have it given to me.

I love the trainer customisation feature. Besides the obvious personalising of the trainer’s appearance it does have potential for exploration that’s only really tapped into when you need to be stylish enough to enter a posh restaurant. By having what you wear influence where you can go that makes you as a player think about that added factor. HGSS touched upon it where you need to be disguised as a Rocket Grunt to infiltrate the basement of the department store. Using clothes as well for undercover sidemissions would be fun and again make you think about what you’re wearing and how you look. On a practical level you might need cold weather gear to travel chilly locations or a diving suit to navigate with a Dive mechanic.
This Gen could have rivaled 4 if there maybe was a Z that fixed all the problems of X and Y. Along with maybe a better ORAS remake that takes notes off of Emerald. Gen 7 was honestly far more complete and if you want Team Flare just play the Team Rainbow Rocket episode in Ultra Sun and Moon, it's more fun than the entirety of X/Y
Tierno had some potential. He's a dancer, right? Imagine facing a team of him with many Swords Dance users and a final Ace Pokemon being a Volcarona with Quiver Dance. It would be much better

Heck, I already feel nostalgic for Pokémon Sun and Moon. X and Y were my absolute faves and I really feel like Gamefreak dropped the ball when it came to expanding Kalos. I wish they made SwSh DLC where you could travel to select parts of Kalos. Like for Instance, just Western Kalos & Lumiose City are accessible or something.
Just played Pokemon Y for the first time(been playing Pokemon for 20 years, just had heard how bad X and Y were and hesitated) and I actually really enjoyed Kalos as a region. Geographically one of the best and having the major city being so centralized with so many routes connecting to it made so much sense. Mega evolutions were an amazing addition. Character customization was such an underrated improvement. Having a character look like me might be why I bonded so much with May. Now they all can. Team Flare, while very dastardly, didn't FEEL that way. They literally wanted to murder everyone but kept talking about their fashionable suits? If it was meant to be a red herring, it wasn't well executed. They should have been more threatening or more naive about Lysander. That said, it was too easy. Korrina's Hawlucha's Hone Claws and Sky Press was the only challenge for me. MandjTV covered my qualms well: gym leaders needed more pokemon with complete movesets and the Elite Four should have had Megas. Only fighting three was just wrong. It really felt incomplete and needed some polishing, like any first game in a new system. It was much better than I was expecting. Just meant I could have a fair amount of wine, play, and still succeed. I'm a Gen III Hoenn baby, so ORAS is my preferred way play, but X and Y really could have been great. The potential is definitely there and I have a new appreciation for them. Too simple but a fantastic region and progression with a cool Professor. About time the main character got a parade for saving the world
My problem with X&Y is just that there is so much missed potential. Mega Evolution was such an exciting concept, but ultimately it just proved to be glorified standard evolutions for regular pokemon, some megas like Garchomp even feel like they completely missed the point of what made the pokemon so great in the first place. A lot of megas were given to pokemon that really didn't need it in the slightest while others many pokemon who really needed them got shafted. I didn't like how it seemed to essentially lock pokemon like Mawile or Heracross out of getting an actual evolution, and some mega evolutions like Pinsir felt way too over-designed while others, like Ampharos, felt like they changed far too little to even look all that much more powerful. Ultimately, even back then, I saw mega evolution as a dangerous precedent. It felt less like a new addition to expand the meta of the game and more like an excuse to make new "evolutions" to pokemon for the current gen in a form with an easy excuse to never return in future titles. This realization made mega evolution feel less like a cool new addition and more like a temporary gimmick. Coupled with the small amount of new pokemon added in X&Y and the next gen's lack of a national dex, I was already convinced something like Dexit in Sword and Shield was coming as far back as Sun and Moon's release. Aside from that, the postgame was really lacking and the game's difficulty, even without mega evolution or the Exp Share, was just too low. How could they get away with every gym leader having only three pokemon? Even as a kid's game, there is absolutely no tension with these gym battles and none of them are memorable. I can't imagine any kids growing up with X&Y and having stories about getting stuck on any particular gym leader. This is coming off the heels of Unova which I considered to be one of the most difficult pokemon games in the series, second to Sinnoh.
Well... It is amazing how I think completely opposite of you about the Megas! I could write here my reasons but it just put everything you said on the contrary. The Megas is the BEST feature in any Pokémon games...
We needed Pokemon Z. It could’ve introduced Mega Yveltal, Xerneas, and obviously Zygarde. Mega starters. More megas in general. A larger postgame. And you could make team flare much more interesting with Zygarde
Got it a month ago. I just CAN'T get into it. With S&M i was immediately hooked. The vacation feeling, the nice cutscenes. Everything! But with X&Y there's a huge lack of cutscenes and a story. What am i working up to? What is the point of the adventure? Why is the proffesor so into my mom? Overall, kinda dissapointing
You are working up to discover what's mega evolution where it comes from how to use it etc It was supposed to look like oh there's nothing here just a bunch of kids having a good time Nothing bad is going to happen but kinda not a surprise wow team flare appeared and something bad is happening
The entire theme of the game is This adventure is about enjoying it! You choose your point The little guy was in it just to catch em all The big guy wanted pokemon friends to dance with he probably caught some ludicolo spoink hitmontop and start doing performances in every square of the world The little girl wanted to make friends and collect memories Similarly you can like your rival your neighbor Try to be champion Or you can become the master rollercoaster Or become a VIP stylish cool Guy Or become a noble Or become a farmer Literally you can choose to get good at any of that it's your adventure do what you want But playing the main story The point of that story It's that we can't force good into the world We cannot individually choose what is best for the world We are supposed to do the best we can to be our best selves And respect each other differences and hope for a better tomorrow A better world comes only together There's no we against them We can be better by changing them No. There's only we all accept each other and coexist. This is thriving for the future. Ain't no bad apple.
One of the worst things about this game... Is that you can't take off your hat. Your rival doesn't wear one, heck, NONE of the other four rivals wear hats, so why are we forced to wear a hat?
Because the PC in Pokemon always have a hat? Red, Gold, Chris, Brendan, May... There was never a PC without a hat. Oh my, did I just found the one thing gen 6 did better than those after it? Nah.
The great innovation in Gen 6 is 3D, seeing tridimensional models of pokémon was so good at that time, i found it mindblowing, now we give that for given but at that time it really was something incredible.
I agree. Have you ever played Coliseum or Gale of Darkness though? I think back then was even more mind blowing. The handheld consoles needed to play catch-up. Gale of Darkness on the GameCube looks amazing (for that era).
While X and Y (along with generation 3) are my favorite Pokémon games, I’m not fully blind to the criticism. Pokémon X and Y had quite a few flaws that I wish were added before release or continued with Pokémon Z. Then you have the lack of a post game, low amount of new Pokémon, the seemingly rushed plot and the many easter eggs and secrets that were in the game that led to nowhere. But at the same time, this was my first official Pokémon experience. And I’m not talking about emulators because I replayed Fire Red, Ruby and Emerald like crazy before getting my 3ds in early 2014. So being able to play a Pokémon game (albeit a few months after it released) along with friends is something I’ll never forget. I still have giveaway videos liked where I commented how badly I wanted other starters. I made some good friends and spent days just breeding Pokémon and battling competitively. I’d even battle my friends at school, so I went from not gaming to gaming like crazy. Nice video! You made some good points. As for least liked Pokémon released, I think Sword and Shield took the crown.

X and Y are the Pokémon games I’ve replayed the least alongside Sun and Moon, which I’ve only ever replayed once. It was an enjoyable experience the first time I played due to it being new but on a second playthrough lots of X and Y’s flaws started to show themselves and I found my second playthrough really boring. Due to a lack of postgame and having no interest in online battles X and Y also ended up having the least amount of playtime for me. It’s a shame since the games have a lot of potential to be good and it’s an even bigger shame they never got a third version.
They were my first games and are extremely nostalgic for me. It introduced me to the world of the Pokemon and I'm grateful for that. Ntm I LOVED the Pokemon in this gen. Florges, Sylveon and delphox are easily some of my favorite Pokemon. Team flare was also a lot of fun and cool and the climax was amazing. Honestly, I don't have many criticisms when it comes to x and y. They're amazing and deserve more love
I agree!! they were my first games and after playing most of the games they’re still my favorite! I think the games are hated on way too much tbh, they’re really good
Yeah I agree. These games and region very underwhelmed me... Honestly these games had so much more potential! It’s wayyy too easy and the storyline is too fast. There’s virtual no postgame. It’s just bland to me. The best part of these games to me are MEGA EVOLUTIONS!
I used to think they were the worst until I realized, they're really not. Personally I think Sun and Moon are the worst since they feel like incomplete versions of USUM despite having a differentish story. Anyway, I've grown to really like Kalos over the past year. I have X and Y and I haven't played through Y fully yet, but I still enjoy the game and even if I hate the story and evil team (good intentions, poor execution imo, I wish it was handled better cause I do like Lysander and the concept behind it.), I still find it fun to play through. I don't mind it being easy and I still think they're good, enjoyable games and not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. Plus despite having less new Pokemon, these have REALLY good designs. The only ones I hear complaints about are Delphox, Quilladin, Slurpuff, and Aromatisse, but I love all of those so doesn't bother me. The games aren't the best, but they are still really good despite their flaws and very enjoyable to play.
The long, unskippable cutscenes in Sun and Moon are tedious, especially when there’s click A to continue the dialogue. Once you’ve beaten the champion there’s half an hour of cutscenes you need to keep the 3DS on for.
I on the other hand literally can't pick them up ever again. Maybe if I get Y i will again. But I hate Sun and Moon mostly because after I played USUM (which I really like) I was like wait, why did I pay for this?
@@Soniman001 USUM has easier hatching, more side quests that are fleshed out and placed everywhere. My problem with sumo was that it was the better story but the world was empty.
I’m kinda young. Pokémon X was the first Pokémon game I ever played. I would say my favorite things about it would have to be Pokémon Amie, the music and Mega Evolution. I’m honestly more of a gen 7 fan. But Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon came out during gen 6 and it’s one of my favorite games on the 3ds!
Pokemon X and Y, X specifically, will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first legit Pokémon game I've played and owned, and I remember EV training my Volcarona, discovering Egg moves and Hidden Abilities etc. and who remembers putting a coin under the circle pad in Lumiose City to hatch eggs, it really took my love for Pokémon to another level which I thought was impossible. That's why I take it personally that Game Freak didn't expand on Kalos as I always wanted to visit areas like the Powerplant in full. I always thought that there would be some event where we would go there and catch a Legendary or Mythical Pokemon.
When comparing X&Y to all of the other Pokemon games that I have played, I'd rank them somewhere in the middle. Good games overall, with several flaws. Positives: A large regional Pokedex, making in-game team building (and Nuzlockes) much more interesting and fun. A nice variety of environments, made possible by the upgrade to the graphics that the 3DS allowed. The Battle Chateau makes levelling up easier. Mega Evolutions. A great soundtrack. Negatives: Not much post-game content, especially when compared to Emerald, HGSS or B2W2. Lack of difficulty, unless you do a self-imposed challenge. Worst rivals in the series. Much more linear than previous games. Sky Battles were pointless.
Pokémon X and Y just sucks, At least Pokémon Sword and Shield are better than Pokémon X and Y because Pokémon Sword and Shield are the best Pokémon Games in my opinion, galar is my favorite 😍 region, galar is so diverse with the wild area, mini islands in some routes, dungeons, caves, ruins and tundra in the crown tundra and I have purchased both DLC and I just love 💕 galar even more. The newer areas in galar (mainly the crown tundra) is big and I get lost pretty easily in some of the areas in the crown tundra postgame and a new town freezington and many more in the postgame and this alone makes galar the best region in Pokémon.
I skipped Gen4 and 5 after I lost my GBA in late 2006, so I quit playing Pokémon for 6 years. The first game in 2012 I played after the hiatus was Pokémon Sapphire and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Red Rescue Team, after a very long time. Then, I bought Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky and I loved it more than everything before. But in 2013, I bought myself a 3DS with both, X and Y. And I fell in love with the region, the soundtrack, the 3D and even if the story wasn't that complete, it is still a lot better in my own perspective than the Alola and Galar-Games. Plus, the French and artsy vibe is fantastic and since I live in Germany, Kalos the nearest region based on my own and inspired me to start painting. After all, X&Y have their issues, but in terms of story, difficulty and design, Kalos did a better job than Galar, in my opinion. Edit: X&Y are already nostalgic. I miss those days where it was actual fun to explore the region by NOT showing/telling you where to go and what the next place looks like.
Your positives were much better explained than people's negatives. And the negatives you mentioned were not as bad, but incredibly understandable. This was a soothing video to watch.
I'm on the younger side so this was actually my first pokemon experience, and I've got to be honest I loved it a lot. I noticed a lot of people saying it was lacking in content, which I didn't notice when I first played as it was bigger then the mario games I had played at the time but when I want back and played the older games it became clear x/y was lacking in content.
These were the games that got me back into pokemon after so many years. The music in xy was amazing, the geography and aesthetics of the region were very memorable, not to mention beautiful. Also in comparison to past gens the amount of pokemon available that were possible to obtain in game was huge despite the fact that the region introduced few pokemon (most gens before usually had only between 200 and 300 pokemon possible to get in game while the rest had to be transferred from previous gens. But in xy there were about 450 that were part of the region's dex available in game). With all of the flaws they had, there is still so much that I love about these games that make them pretty great.
I love X and Y. They're so easy to pick up and play with that QoL and the PSS. I also think the postgame is much better than it gets credit for. Cool shiny hunting, looker missions, friend safari, the routes have nice (not great, but nice) exploration, Pokemon amie and some other minigames and a few ribbons and stuff. It was of course the gen to finally introduce much more accessible competitive breeding, training and setups. I also agree that Kalos is one of the best regions, even if sometimes it's kinda spotty/has some weird transitions and some areas are bizarrely small, it has a great variety and still has good effort in most transitions between areas and just cool bits and ideas and a couple of really lovely quaint areas etc. Of course, the game is actually too easy to beat and clearly not trying to have some bite, that's hella lame yeah... and it should still have more to do. There are many problems with the games but actually one of the best gens when you include ORAS (even though Emerald is still better, ORAS is freaking good), really easy and quick to play and under-credited for what it gets right imho I think that Z would have been one of the best Pokémon games and it's a real shame it never happened. XY probably deserved it more than most gens Please note I don't care about the story, although it's definitely a flaw with the games, I'm just glad it stays out the way and stays simple for the most part. Sometimes it does just butt in but I didn't find it overbearing. I think even 5's story is crap and GF can't write a good story, so I prefer a barebones one to one forced on you like 5 and 7's Like, story is kind of a flaw in almost every goddamn main Pokémon game they're not good even if sometimes they have some good ideas they never manage to pull them together and present them and pace them well I didn't play 8's so I don't know if it's even worse or something mystery too meeeeooo (Actually I just dislike gen 5 in general so unpopular opinions there)
I bought the games at launch and I just finished the Pokedex thanks to all the free time this summer. I have clocked in about 750 hours. About 400 was just this summer. Breeding endlessly. Got sick of Super Training and eventually did horde battles with Power items and pokerus. I would be fine never playing this game again. Very sick of it. Of course my living Pokedex went through another phase in Sun and Moon with pokeball inherentence. Personally I never cared for that, but it is very easy to get sucked into. When you look at the trade boards, the currency nowadays is not legendaries, but aprimons. I know Papasea loves to dunk on Alola but I love those games. I did not when they came out but looking back, the map is so organic compared to any other generation. Galar is very streamlined but now I accept it. They were clearly more focused on the wild area(s) Also looking back I do appreciate how big the maps in XY and ORAS are compared to the last two gens. They did a good job with Hoenn, and nobody ever mentions how lively and big Kalos is either. I wish we got the third game to improve and it may happen in a remake. But I do like how streamlined the last two gens were. Cutting the fat is good for me.
This was the game that got me back into the franchise again, made me replay all the games I missed, from gen 4 onwards. Really hope we get a sequel to this game one day, more interesting than sun and moon in my opinion.
I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when people say they liked USUM better. Gen 7 was just an extended tutorial that wouldn't leave you alone with pointless textboxes constantly. It drove me insane to play through those, while X and Y just did the job of being a decent Pokemon game without being annoying af. Much preferred.
X and Y felt unfinished, they needed a Z version with updates and improvements. Sun and Moon are the worst for me, the stop/start nature of them just made it too difficult to get in to and play, the amount of cut scenes and NPC conversations ruined it.
At least Pokémon Sword and Shield are better and have more difficulty level than Pokémon X and Y because Pokémon Sword and Shield are the best Pokémon Games in my opinion, galar is my favorite 😍 region, galar is so diverse with the wild area, mini islands in some routes, dungeons, caves, ruins and tundra in the crown tundra and I have purchased both DLC and I just love 💕 galar even more. Let's not forgot Pokémon Amie. Growing up I didn't care for Pokémon, I thought it's just collecting animals and fighting them. That all changed however when Pokémon Amie was advertised as a feature in X & Y, I was so happy that now you can actually pet them and feed them, it's like you are really are travelling with your companions. So this was the first generation I actually bought and played, and since then, with Amie, customization, and PR videos, Kalos is still my favourite region. I was disappointed however when ride pokémon was advertised and it turns out you can't ride your own pokémon. I also thought racing was going to be a feature because you find out about races early in the game; it would have been so cool to enter your own pokémon in a race and win prizes that way, depending on a combination of your racing skill and the pokémon's speed stat
@@nykolaiblichar2325 ight, play a gen 5 rom. Then play gen 8 agsin. It is absolute garbage in comparision that is why Masuda was depromoted and shegeru was oustade for public promotion and game decisión board. Also nintendo hired a new director to save the business.
Pokémon x was my first ever Pokémon game, I was like 10 when I got it, and no joke, it was like crack, it was so addictive and fun to me, and the funny thing is I never used the online features after I beat the main game, I mainly just ran around catching whatever Pokémon I could, training in the Pokémon village and training a mewtwo, and just having a great time I still regret restarting my save file around 8 years ago, but I replayed it recently and got to admire the beauty it is, it’s truly a fantastic game, and I don’t think it being easy took away from that, if anything, it let me enjoy the game more smoothly and not spend about 30 extra hours grinding like other games do, it’s great
X/Y despite its flaws will never be the worst gen for me, just the 3D models being new and having the best online functionality (I was trading, breeding, and then easily finding Wi-fi Singles battles with said bred teams for months, not to mention Friend Safaris as well) was enough to make it my most played mainline Pokemon game after Emerald and HGSS. Yes even more than B2W2, even though I did enjoy the Dream World website and building my Plaza.
You can still get X&Y for 40 bucks. I recommend getting them ASAP because they'll probably be discontinued in a year or two and when they are, the price will shoot up astronomically like you said. This'll be your last chance to get an authentic copy of X&Y so don't miss it. I'd do anything to get play an authentic Pokemon game from an older generations but those things cost 70-150 dollars used!
Pokemon is a beloved franchise held in the clutches of a greedy meat grinder of a corporation. Gamefreak does not care about any amount of quality beyond the bare minimum.
Pokemon X and Y was pretty easy, but it's got nothing on the handholding in Sun/Moon or Sword/Shield. I just want Game Freak to recognise that some of us have been catching Pokémon since before some of the dev team were even born, and we just want a game to give us our dex, starter, and a handful of balls, and send us on our way. The difficulty curve, or rather the complete lack of any discernible curve, is my biggest issue with X/Y. I don't even remember the gyms, elite 4, rival, or champion battles, because I just rolled through the game so easily. I literally one-shot swept the elite 4 and champion with my Greninja. I never stopped to grind, I just rolled up, seriously over-prepared buying supplies before I went in, and felt cheated when it was all over. That shouldn't be possible, even if you seriously over-level.
From what I understood, The anime became pokemon Z when they introduced Squishy, the Zygarde cell. Sadly, the anime and the games have different world building so who is Zygarde in the games? Who knows... I liked the wide array of rivals but it was flawed. I feel the problem with Trevor and Tierno is that their rival element isn't important to the plot. Tierno was all about dancing and stuff and would've thrived alot better in a contest environment like Lisia and Chaz in ORAS. Trevor on the other hand was more of a pokedex rival and catching 'em all has never been a focus of the games. That made him quite underwhelming (especially with his empty pokedex). The Exp. share is just a modified version of gen 1's Exp. All with the updated exp mechanics. The game felt fresh with a return to the cute overworld esthetics gen 1-4 had but in 3D. To bad they removed the character models afterwards, the new ones clash with the creatures esthetics.
Pokemon x was the first pokemon game i ever completed, and it made me really sad to hear that everyone hated it. It also didnt feel like an accomplishment anymore because apparently i had just beaten "the easiest game in the series"
I remember being so hyped for these games. I still love the region, Pokémon and characters, though I agree it was a bit easy and of course easily the most underdeveloped region with its post-game content. No additional Legendaries, no Z version to expand upon Zygarde's lore and influence to the story, no extra places. We could've gotten it, but no, they went straight to Generation 7. Since Generation 5, each Generation lasted only 3 years (2 and a half for Gen 5 in the West) whereas it used to be 4 for Gens 3-4.
These games pissed me off thanks to how much of a step back it was from thr Generation 5 games. I went in with so much expectations after playing Gen 5 thinking "Man! They can only get better right?" I was wrong. These games were the worst.
I always loved the x and y rivals. They're not as good as rivals like Cheren and Bianca whose characters tie into the major theme of their games, but they were just gpod friends. They felt like real people instead of parts of a story
"for whatever reason the first two gym leaders only have 2 Pokémon." Brock - geodude, onyx Falkner - pidgey, pidgeotto Roxanne - geodude, nosepass Triplets - lilipup, pan Milo - gossifleur, eldigoss. Literally only Roark has 3, unless you include emerald Roxanne.
I think my main problem with Gen 6 is that it just feels like a massive step back from Gen 5, and I’m sorry the evil team being more evil does not make them good team flare are completely boring compared to Plasma or Skull who actually have a point to make and u can see where they are coming from
I played Pokemon games before, but Pokemon X and Y were the first games that really hooked me on Pokemon. You can always turn the Exp. Share off, so it isn't as broken as say in the Let's Go games, but it does make training easier. If we had XY's Exp. Share in Johto, I would love to replay Gen 2 again, but the Johto games' levels are heavily unbalanced from Chuck to Claire to the Champion. Another thing about X and Y was the music was just really good, imo. Can't think of many if any tracks I didn't like.
@@c0mpu73rguy thats okay! I hated the sun & moon series ironically so it just goes to show people can have very different opinions on games so you should always try out a game before judging it off a rating /review or what people are saying about it. One mans trash is another mans treasure.
OMG, zygarde is so cool.
X Y got me back into pokemon. I like how they made EV training into a mini game if you wanted it to be, riding Pokemon took away the headache of HM slaves while still giving us pokemon to interact with when traversing, Mega Evolutions were a fantastic way of keeping old pokemon evolution lines and designs fresh. I thought it was much better than Sun and Moon and Z crystals. Sword and Shield are probably my least favorite as Dynamax is one of the worst gimmicks in the pokemon franchise. So they become large..... woopty do. The only thing i like about it are the gigantamax forms which reminds me of mega evolutions due to the new designs of the pokemon. Mega evolutions should have remained a staple of the series.
X & Y blew me away after coming back, having skipped gen 4 and 5, so I'm biased, but they're my favorite games. They have flaws, plenty of them, yeah, but not a single Pokémon game is perfect and I would argue Gen 8 is easily worse. Though again, bias in the form of shattered illusion. A game Z would have been perfect to wrap it up. Yeah I'm glad the 'final version' formula is going away now, but back then I feel like it would have still been okay and gen 6 kind of needed it. But I still love them, they also introduced me to my #2 favorite pokemon of all time (Sylveon) and the customization to me looks the best. And you could save presets and see previews and, well there's just so much to love. People complaining about them being too easy, well, I never noticed that because I tend to play differently. I use a mix of unevolved and evolved pokemon, I didnt use any megas myself (boxed lucario and charizard), etc and with other restrictions I always place upon myself, I lost a good number of times. Challenge enough, if you want it. I do agree that all pokemon games could use difficulty options, dont get me wrong, but that is not the fault of X and Y.
It's my second favorite Pokemon game actually. I like it because Game Freak actually made an effort to make 3d models and animations for every single Pokemon in existence up to that generation.
And they've pretty much been using those models since (albeit with changes every now and then (thanks to them having like future proof models that are very high poly iirc))
Pokemon x and y got me into the more older player version of pokemon. I started breading, shiny hunting, trying to complete my pokedex and all that stuff. Maybe some people did that as kids, but I only then could really understand English. This made it so I could learn from the internet how to shiny hunt and breed good pokemon and stuff. That’s why these games will always have a special place in my heart.
This really surprised me because I love x and y. Honestly I'd say sword and shield are the worst and then gold and silver. I never thought any of the games were bad. I just liked some more than others.
I often refer to X&Y as the forgotten Pokemon games. They don't have the nostalgia of the earlier generations nor do they get the hate of gens 7 and 8. They stand in this little pocket in which nobody seems to pay them any mind. In fact, if it wasn't for ORAS I would bet a lot of people would forget that gen 6 was even a thing, which is really odd when you think back to when they were announced XY were the most hyped Pokemon games since generation 2. I remember Mewthree being this giant mystery that took the community by storm.
Your "main problem" with X and Y couldn't be more off-base. X and Y brought Pokemon into 3D (everyone forgets how hype that was as the time), provided Pokemon models and animations that would be used for the next three generations (think about how much more work went into these games than gen 7 and 8), added Mega Evolutions, added the Fairy type, added Pokemon Amie, added super training, and added trainer customization. It brought more big, new changes to the franchise than other Pokemon game besides Ruby and Sapphire. These games are lacking in post-game content and were much too easy and certainly aren't my favorites of the franchise--maybe not even in my top 50%--but their BEST quality was all of the major changes they brought to the main series games.
if im being honest i think gen 5 was one of the hardest gens considering the champion had a good team and the level system was a lot harder. although it is my favourite so im biased
The most recent Pokémon game I finished was Pokémon Y, and I think that was back in 2014, maybe 2015. I loved that game, so I did everything I knew about, like beating Mewtwo and Zygarde and not catching them like I should’ve, the Looker missions, and transferring my Pokémon from Black to Y. It’s actually because I didn’t catch those two legendaries that I’m thinking about picking up a copy of X, and also to relive my childhood.
Also, I’ve gotten Omega Ruby, Ultra Sun, and Sword since then, and I’m not really thinking about getting Scarlet or Violet. I’m at Victory Road in OR, the Dark gym in SW, and I think I beat the first gym in US. I dropped all of them, and I’ve pretty much moved on from the franchise, except for card collection and every once in a while going back to my 3DS and booting up a gen 5 or 6 game.
While I do recall having a pleasant experience playing my X, I remember quitting almost right after I beat the champion. My biggest disappointment in the game was its art style. While I do think it looks alright, it simply resembles plushies you might buy in stores, which brings down the quality in my eyes. I could only predict that the animations would be re-used in later games, which just sounds cheap. Gen 5 had the best art style IMO.
I think the complaint people have with getting overlevelled is not completely the game’s fault. First, lots of people complain about the exp share is so bad and awful, but seem to forget that you can turn it off. Beyond that, other people have the same complaint but actively grind with the exp share on, making the problem (and their perception of it by extension) far worse than it normally would be. Idk, maybe I’m biased, I don’t remember anything about the game besides brief flashbacks of my team and not getting past the elite four
11:39 yes, but ORAS also did all of that AND more, which is why a lot of people including myself think that the hoenn remakes are the best pkmn games on the 3ds Edit: yes, I know, the friend safari isn't in ORAS, but it had the Dex Nav, which basically does the same thing :P
While I agree with the B&W made Pokemon easier thing, I think the trainers had more diverse teams and more coverage which is why they didn’t feel easier This plus the fact that the EXP share was OP, you get a mega EVO before the 4th gym (and maybe even the third) and the fact that the trainers had the amount of Pokemon as gen 5 but without the diversity or coverage. They also hardly use mega evolutions Whilst gen 5 wasn’t difficult I believe it was leagues more difficult than X and Y
I just wish we could’ve got Pokémon Z
And add a pokeball called the z ball
My one and only gripe about the main series.
Done this gen a disservice
Would’ve fixed a lot
Too many loose ends
Exactly....

I hate that they give you kanto starters, give them all Megas and give mewtwo and Charizard 2. Why 2? Still giving gen 1 special treatment, and there were barely any new Pokemon, and they give a mega lucario to you, yeah I do feel that these games are way too easy. Gen 6 Is The peak of Pokémon franchise!
Kids who were 10 when BW came out are now in high school or college and are posting on the internet so it will be a while before XY gets this "demographic nostalgia buff."
I've played all the main series games except Yellow but I don't really remember XY very fondly. I nuzlocked X once after beating Y and nuzlocking X with the Exp Share is very very easy compared to nuzlocking a Gen III or Gen V game.
Maybe, turn off the exp share.
yet here I was who was 10 when XY came out.
The thing is, it's pretty obvious they made XY with Z in mind, there are just too many loose ends to XY. It's not that fans are just being entitled
Zygarde was introduced, hyped up, had different forms. Much like kyurem with BW. Clearly pointing towards Z, but it was later rushed in future games as a unimportant side quest
It was datamined that you would be able to get AZ's flowette, but oddly nothing came of it and it's still not legitimately accessable and probably never will be
The accessible, but locked, doors of route 13 connected to large buildings
Smogon even made a good theory that the Couriway Town Train Station was gonna work like a battle frontier
There's just too many unexplained/unused parts that it makes XY feel unfinished
@@almond3066 I mean....no one is saying the fans are entitled. I've heard the couriway town train station would lead to another region. It's clear pokemon z or actually a xy sequel was planned and to this day it's one of pokemon's biggest mysterious overall of what would've happened.

Pokémon Z or even Pokémon X VERSION 2 and Pokémon Y VERSION 2 could have fleshed out the origin of zygarde since zygarde is the third legendary of the aura trio alongside its two members xerneas and yveltal and it is known as the order pokemon, the guardian of the earth and balance life and death and the haunted house actually predicts zygarde since he said something about a horde of faceless man and 50% zygarde have 5 serpent heads at the back of 50% zygarde and complete form zygarde have 5 heads, 1 humanoid head and 4 serpent heads and zygarde is a 6 headed serpent dragon, 50% zygarde have 6 heads and complete form zygarde also have 6 heads and Pokémon Z could have added new areas to explore and newer towns and cities in kalos and southern kalos is questionable because there’s should be new towns and cities to explore in southern kalos if Pokémon Z or Sequels like Pokémon X VERSION 2 and Pokémon Y VERSION 2 ever happened, kalos would have been one of the best regions in Pokémon because kalos is actually among the best regions in terms of exploration and Pokémon Z could have unlocked the locked power plant and allowed us to explore it and maybe in Pokémon Z or Pokémon X VERSION 2 Pokémon Y VERSION 2, we started in a new hometown, and visited new towns and cities in southern kalos and maybe revisit the older towns and cities such as
in postgame of Pokémon Z or even Pokémon X VERSION 2 and Pokémon Y VERSION 2 such as geosenge town and ambrette town, and maybe added more dungeons and caves and more routes in kalos and tons of older legendaries to catch in the postgame and maybe a battle frontier, if that had happened, kalos would have been the best region period.
OMG, zygarde is so cool.
The games are okay, but there's not a lot of replayability. Also, if we're gonna have multiple rivals I want them to be stronger and one of them to be evil.
Tell that to me, who has replayed them probably a dozen times
Literally the widest roster of available pokemon, great for replays.
LMAO i have 700+ hours put into Y, taking that number directly from my 3ds logs that show u how long youve played a game in total, probably the most replayable games for myself but thats just me. and agreed with what u said about the rivals, 2 nice ones was lame
I've replayed them more times than I can count and I even bought a new cartridge after I lost my old one just to I could play the game again
I have buyed a X Cartridge Just to Replay it bwcause i dont wanna lose my Shiny Crobat
How to improve XY:
-There's a Z expansion alongside ORAS that provide the new Mega Evolutions. Your rivals get better roles:
-Shauna becomes the Secret Base rival; she helps you increase your Pokemon's friendship / affect, and helps you increase your style with customization and accessories.
Those actually would've been great ideas.
the only problems i had with the game really was that you had wayyyyy too many rivals to face and the game was way too easy for you to see it as a challenge
Way less rival battles than Black and White
@Gabriel Mota that’s true but I still love x and y I don’t care enough about the rivals to have them spoil the game

This was my first pokemon generation, "not counting spinoffs" so I greatly appreciate the easy difficulty, it let me ease into the franchise.
@Tiffany Wart as someone who's playing soulsilver rn.. no, you dont lol. I'm barely grinding and the one problem gym was whitney (because of that awful miltank), and all im doing is choosing the moves that do the most damage

@Mr Zazovia That's awesome! I really hope you enjoy it!

@@Legoluigi26 that's pretty much gen 5 in a nutshell
Its more of a linear process if you ask me.
-the game is rated as the best one yet when it comes out
-about a year later everyone starts to turn on it
-roughly when a new generation is revealed people have since decided they hate the game
-the next seven or so years are spent either trashing or forgetting the game
-about a decade in, people in high-school/early into college who started with the game will defend it as the best one ever because of nostalgia
-once the nostalgia fest evens out, the game is mostly looked at with indifference, like "oh yeah, that one. It was alright/meh." And thats it

@Mr Zazovia probably just you since it was ultimate fanservice to be able to fight every team leader in one game

@@yodasaber6362 don't go that far
You are working up to discover what's mega evolution where it comes from how to use it etc
It was supposed to look like oh there's nothing here just a bunch of kids having a good time
Nothing bad is going to happen but kinda not a surprise wow team flare appeared and something bad is happening
The entire theme of the game is
This adventure is about enjoying it!
You choose your point
The little guy was in it just to catch em all
The big guy wanted pokemon friends to dance with he probably caught some ludicolo spoink hitmontop and start doing performances in every square of the world
The little girl wanted to make friends and collect memories
Similarly you can like your rival your neighbor
Try to be champion
Or you can become the master rollercoaster
Or become a VIP stylish cool Guy
Or become a noble
Or become a farmer
Literally you can choose to get good at any of that it's your adventure do what you want
But playing the main story
The point of that story
It's that we can't force good into the world
We cannot individually choose what is best for the world
We are supposed to do the best we can to be our best selves
And respect each other differences and hope for a better tomorrow
A better world comes only together
There's no we against them
We can be better by changing them

There's only we all accept each other and coexist. This is thriving for the future.
Ain't no bad apple.
I like that it’s light on story that way, I don’t end trying to speed read 200 lines of text while my mom yell at me to go to the car
That's in every game, again.
For me this was the direct opposite because I hated the amount of not-controlling my character I did in S/M lmao
Gladion hiding in the room and only saying "GET OUT" to you was hilarious lol
One of the worst things about this game...
Is that you can't take off your hat.
Your rival doesn't wear one, heck, NONE of the other four rivals wear hats, so why are we forced to wear a hat?
Because the PC in Pokemon always have a hat? Red, Gold, Chris, Brendan, May... There was never a PC without a hat. Oh my, did I just found the one thing gen 6 did better than those after it? Nah.
@@c0mpu73rguy pretty sure May wore a bandana...
The newer areas in galar (mainly the crown tundra) is big and I get lost pretty easily in some of the areas in the crown tundra postgame and a new town freezington and many more in the postgame and this alone makes galar the best region in Pokémon.
I have never been able to share my opinion on this, but these comments seem rather friendly, so...
X and Y are my favorite Pokemon games
They were my first games and are extremely nostalgic for me. It introduced me to the world of the Pokemon and I'm grateful for that. Ntm I LOVED the Pokemon in this gen. Florges, Sylveon and delphox are easily some of my favorite Pokemon. Team flare was also a lot of fun and cool and the climax was amazing. Honestly, I don't have many criticisms when it comes to x and y. They're amazing and deserve more love
I agree!! they were my first games and after playing most of the games they’re still my favorite! I think the games are hated on way too much tbh, they’re really good
Me too
Same! Very fun.
Same, I really enjoy playing Pokémon Y
@@sechabatheletsane9784 you like the worst version of the game cool
@@Soniman001 USUM has easier hatching, more side quests that are fleshed out and placed everywhere. My problem with sumo was that it was the better story but the world was empty.
I’m kinda young. Pokémon X was the first Pokémon game I ever played. I would say my favorite things about it would have to be Pokémon Amie, the music and Mega Evolution. I’m honestly more of a gen 7 fan. But Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon came out during gen 6 and it’s one of my favorite games on the 3ds!
My first pokemon game was pokemon x and i was 7
Pokemon X and Y, X specifically, will always have a special place in my heart as it was the first legit Pokémon game I've played and owned, and I remember EV training my Volcarona, discovering Egg moves and Hidden Abilities etc. and who remembers putting a coin under the circle pad in Lumiose City to hatch eggs, it really took my love for Pokémon to another level which I thought was impossible.
Positives:
A large regional Pokedex, making in-game team building (and Nuzlockes) much more interesting and fun.
A nice variety of environments, made possible by the upgrade to the graphics that the 3DS allowed.
The Battle Chateau makes levelling up easier.
Mega Evolutions.
A great soundtrack.
Negatives:
Not much post-game content, especially when compared to Emerald, HGSS or B2W2.
Lack of difficulty, unless you do a self-imposed challenge.
Worst rivals in the series.
Much more linear than previous games.
Sky Battles were pointless.
Sequels were planned for the XY games, but they were never released
I bet that if the sequels were released, many more people would like XY
It didn't need an sequel. What it needs is an enhanced version.
X and Y's post game was the hype and boom of new players that gen 6 brought in
Pokémon X and Y just sucks, At least Pokémon Sword and Shield are better than Pokémon X and Y because Pokémon Sword and Shield are the best Pokémon Games in my opinion, galar is my favorite 😍 region, galar is so diverse with the wild area, mini islands in some routes, dungeons, caves, ruins and tundra in the crown tundra and I have purchased both DLC and I just love 💕 galar even more.
There are many problems with the games but actually one of the best gens when you include ORAS (even though Emerald is still better, ORAS is freaking good), really easy and quick to play and under-credited for what it gets right imho
I think that Z would have been one of the best Pokémon games and it's a real shame it never happened. XY probably deserved it more than most gens
Please note I don't care about the story, although it's definitely a flaw with the games, I'm just glad it stays out the way and stays simple for the most part. Sometimes it does just butt in but I didn't find it overbearing.
I think even 5's story is crap and GF can't write a good story, so I prefer a barebones one to one forced on you like 5 and 7's
Like, story is kind of a flaw in almost every goddamn main Pokémon game they're not good even if sometimes they have some good ideas they never manage to pull them together and present them and pace them well
I didn't play 8's so I don't know if it's even worse or something mystery too meeeeooo
(Actually I just dislike gen 5 in general so unpopular opinions there)
I bought the games at launch and I just finished the Pokedex thanks to all the free time this summer.
They were clearly more focused on the wild area(s)
Also looking back I do appreciate how big the maps in XY and ORAS are compared to the last two gens.

Pokémon x was my first ever Pokémon game, I was like 10 when I got it, and no joke, it was like crack, it was so addictive and fun to me, and the funny thing is I never used the online features after I beat the main game, I mainly just ran around catching whatever Pokémon I could, training in the Pokémon village and training a mewtwo, and just having a great time
I still regret restarting my save file around 8 years ago, but I replayed it recently and got to admire the beauty it is, it’s truly a fantastic game, and I don’t think it being easy took away from that, if anything, it let me enjoy the game more smoothly and not spend about 30 extra hours grinding like other games do, it’s great
X/Y despite its flaws will never be the worst gen for me, just the 3D models being new and having the best online functionality (I was trading, breeding, and then easily finding Wi-fi Singles battles with said bred teams for months, not to mention Friend Safaris as well) was enough to make it my most played mainline Pokemon game after Emerald and HGSS.
I would disagree, though I admits not the best pokemon game but I like the aesthetic of gen 6 and the setting kalos based of france.
The Death Parade opening nod at the start was so great!

I was wrong. These games were the worst.
I always loved the x and y rivals. They're not as good as rivals like Cheren and Bianca whose characters tie into the major theme of their games, but they were just gpod friends. They felt like real people instead of parts of a story
Trevor is cool because he caught photos of legendary Pokemon.
Is a little Sad that the most interesting parts of the entirety of X/Y story are the 2 or 3 times AZ appears and the short post-game Looker missions
I thought they were the most uninteresting parts

Falkner - pidgey, pidgeotto
Roxanne - geodude, nosepass

I think my main problem with Gen 6 is that it just feels like a massive step back from Gen 5, and I’m sorry the evil team being more evil does not make them good team flare are completely boring compared to Plasma or Skull who actually have a point to make and u can see where they are coming from
Skull was a very funny team, it more than makes up for their lack of ambition.

I liked XY better than SWSH. But I haven't played the game, it was the region that made me come back to pokemon.
It's my second favorite Pokemon game actually. I like it because Game Freak actually made an effort to make 3d models and animations for every single Pokemon in existence up to that generation.
Sean Miller GameFreak doesn’t make the models
@@PaPaSea I did not know this
And they've pretty much been using those models since (albeit with changes every now and then (thanks to them having like future proof models that are very high poly iirc))

X and y are my favorite. I just really wish that we could've gotten a third game. If anything, the worst ones are sword and shield.
Gold and Silver second worst? What?

They stand in this little pocket in which nobody seems to pay them any mind. In fact, if it wasn't for ORAS I would bet a lot of people would forget that gen 6 was even a thing, which is really odd when you think back to when they were announced XY were the most hyped Pokemon games since generation 2. Pokemon a and y are the best games. I grew up playing pokemon y and My first ever pokemon card was Yveltal so this game is so special to me.
also Fennekin is the best starter ever. Change my mind
Froakie
First of all Froakie is the Best, But second of all I honestly think X and Y are the best games ever.
11:39 yes, but ORAS also did all of that AND more, which is why a lot of people including myself think that the hoenn remakes are the best pkmn games on the 3ds
Edit: yes, I know, the friend safari isn't in ORAS, but it had the Dex Nav, which basically does the same thing :P
ORAS are the best Pokemon games ever made
While I agree with the B&W made Pokemon easier thing, I think the trainers had more diverse teams and more coverage which is why they didn’t feel easier
This plus the fact that the EXP share was OP, you get a mega EVO before the 4th gym (and maybe even the third) and the fact that the trainers had the amount of Pokemon as gen 5 but without the diversity or coverage. They also hardly use mega evolutions
Whilst gen 5 wasn’t difficult I believe it was leagues more difficult than X and Y
