Local of the area. Years ago it was a Miami Subs, and was turned into a Wendy’s in the late 90s-Early 2000s. The owner was super cool and the building has barely aged in the two and a half decades that its existed. He took very good care of the building and they always got good buisiness. A shame they shut it down, but that road’s always been competitive with mcdonalds and burger king a half mile away.
Unfortunately main reason they closed was because of the staffs poor attitude. Kids of plum from gen z are way too disrespectful and I only say that because I'm one of them and I don't understand how they can be so irritating
An awesome video, Wallie! 👍👍👍👍👍 I like the solarium as well. Over the years I have cut down eating at fast food restaurants, though Wendy's is my favorite place to eat a burger. The first time that I ate at Wendy's was down in Morgantown, WV and that was way back when Wendy's had the reprint newspaper headlines on the dining area tables. The Morgantown Wendy's location was off Interstate 79 south, the star city exit. I really miss Wendy's retro aesthetics. As for all fast food restaurants, they unfortunately scream 90s era or the dreaded shoe box design.
I was a manager of a Wendy’s in Charleston in the late eighties when they knocked that front wall out and built the solariums. And the tables all had that retro newsprint and bentwood chairs. And the stained glass lights. I ended up buying one of the lamp shades years ago that is still hanging above my dining room table. I loved the older Wendy’s. The newer ones are kind of cold looking!
There is one just like that that closed down about 4 months ago by me. It was old like that. Still had the cut out pieces to slide in the menu board. No tvs or screens of any kind.
I can tell you for a fact I used to work at this wendys til it closed Dec 2023. I also worked at another wendys located in Lower Burrell PA that closed in Oct 2020. That one is boarded up though. This one was only leased and not owned hence no boards. It was definitely a nice little store to help at.
I hope they put another restaurant or fast food restaurant here. Plum doesn’t have many fast food restaurants and restaurants in general. I think they should move the subway down here so they can get a drive thru. Plum has about 5 car washes, so I hope it’s not a car wash or a bank that goes here.
My mom was nuts for Richard Simmons when he had his own studio tv show after the exercise he would either interview a guest or there would be a cooking segment.😊
Our old Wendy's was turned into a music store and my husband works there and teaches music in it. It closed in 1998 ish. It has the brick exterior. I remember eating there when was a young un.
On, Detroit's Eastside and there was a Dave Thomas Style Wendy's. The, Franchise Owner has Closed Temporary for Remodeling and posted A,Now Hiring Sign in the Window. Then, the Franchise Owner has Closed Permanently and Left the Now Hiring Sign in the window. And ,the Wendy's Signs are still on the building and the Roadside Signs are still posted. Back in the day, and I remember when Richard Simmons was on the Soap Opera, General Hospital during the 1970's. 1:59
Very much miss dining at these types of Wendy's. Today's Wendy's look like today's McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc. They all look the same, they lack the character they used to have, the character we remember as kids. We can only hope one day they'll bring the original characters back like they are now bringing back the original logos.
Hey there WallieB26 this is just about the second Wendy's that you have filmed where the floor is even with the rest of the restaurant, where others have a step down floor
Nice old Wendy's. Looks to be in good shape too. I just couldn't help but laugh about the skidmarks lol. Makes me wonder if they even made it to the bathroom, or did they turn their pants into the underwear motor speedway after doing some smokey barbecue burnouts. Thank you, that definitely put a smile on my face. 😂😂
There is Wendy's close where I where I live is old style Wendy's and never got updated and still in business and they do very well where they are at but sad part is every time I go they seem have troubles getting workers there
I wouldn’t call it abandoned. They just did work on it and I think there’s already plans to do something with it. It just closed. (I live walking distance from here)
The Sheetz across from the former Wendy's used to be a King's, the Dollar General is where The Mcdonald's was that moved down by the former blue roof Burger King!
Before this Wendy’s opened it was a former Rax’s roast beef and before that was Miami Subs. EDIT: sorry it was actually the opposite Rax was first and then Miami Subs
Fries dipped in a Frosty 😊
No
@@12HpyPws I will trie that
Yuck!
I like the older style Wendy's restaurants. Glad you filmed this one Wallie.
We'll get them back for sure.
Golden Corral in Monroeville Pa has been closed for years.
I'll miss this place. It was a Rax back in the 80's. Loved Rax!
Thanks again ❤
Yes, I remember it being a Rax's, too. Wasn't it also something called Miami subs at one time?
I met Dave Thomas when I work at South Hackensack New Jersey great Guy his Mind Was sharp as his Suit.
That used to be a Miami Subs when I was a kid.

Awesome location love your videos wallie
I don't like to put my card on my phone either. Very cool carpet.

I used to go there a lot when we lived in Plum. Sad to see all of the area's closures & changes.

Awesome video man I love going back in time ❤
Amazing video as always keep up the good work
I had no idea it closed. I grew up in that area. First place I ever rode a motorcycle through the drive thru. Used to be miami subs back in the day

Wallie, keep that quarter it may be a collectible.

I could use a frosty on a hot day like today 🥵
I would be very careful using your debit card at any establishment
probably the worst thing you could use. I almost don't carry it anymore
Awesome 👌 video
My DQ Grill & Chill in Ontario, Canada has a solarium.
I imagine this was a very nice wendys back when it was open just by the looks of it

They are putting a Charley's Cheesesteak there
Another great video! Sure looks like an older style place!
We were hit by Beryl too! Our fence in the backyard is leaning.

Fantastic video, Wallie. Your tank top is very nice.
Nice
Weird looking parking lot, think they added the drive thru after it was built? Almost looks like blacked out parking lot spaces in the drive-thru.
Very Cool 👍✌️
Loading up on abandoned Wendy’s lately lol
Nice location! Odd that the parking, including accessible spots are so freshly done on an abandoned spot.
Hey there WallieB26 this is just about the second Wendy's that you have filmed where the floor is even with the rest of the restaurant, where others have a step down floor
My dad went to school with Richard Simmons they were in the same class.
That's a neat and clean place😮for the most part
Nice old Wendy's. Looks to be in good shape too. I just couldn't help but laugh about the skidmarks lol. Carpet I would say is mid 2000's as the new Arby's I opened in 2006 had this carpet new around then
i can tell that was later build of the old style since i has some shoe box elements in it
i been there before at the wendys
There is Wendy's close where I where I live is old style Wendy's and never got updated and still in business and they do very well where they are at but sad part is every time I go they seem have troubles getting workers there
Richard Simmons and Dave Thomas will be missed.

They are currently working on the building now. Any idea of what it's going to be?
A few famous people passed away dr Ruth passed away away
The Sheetz across from the former Wendy's used to be a King's, the Dollar General is where The Mcdonald's was that moved down by the former blue roof Burger King!
Yep I loved visiting those areas
My paternal grandparents lived in a retirement village in
Murrysville and I would go there with them
The Sheetz across the street used to be a Kings restaurant.
Cool video
It's being replaced by the. Shoe box style of building or it was under preform performing
Before this Wendy’s opened it was a former Rax’s roast beef and before that was Miami Subs.
EDIT: sorry it was actually the opposite Rax was first and then Miami Subs
Richard Simmon’s advice clearly didn’t work on himself though with all his health problems he had.
Also this closed because it was starting to go downhill with quality and they had no staff anymore
Im here :)
Love wendys
I like wendys but we still have ours here in Indiana
Just like there's more divorces than there's marriagee.
