I have arthritis in both knees which kind of limits me to how much training I can do without incurring severe pain. I've also been an avid gamer since Pong and I've turned to VR to help me with cardio and weight loss. The doctor told me that losing weight should help alleviate my knee pain. I've never had a problem with my weight until my knees started to fail and I am seriously struggling with it. But on days where i give my body a break its good exercise to also, again, prevent me from being idle and also to keep me from just sitting on my pc and snacking like in the old days. Just like with most other sports, you'd need to get further into them to really utlize them as work-outs. High enough level Beat Saber can get anyone exhausted within 10 minutes.
I used to wear a Polar H10 heart rate monitor for Beat Saber, peaked at 199 bpm and got averages over 170 bpm for 50+ minute sessions. Shit's real but it takes too long to learn it so it wouldn't have been suitable for this video.
The training exercises in Creed: Rise to glory are a great workout. In particular the one with Rocky where he holds up the pads for you to hit and then you have to duck under his punch it works the legs and back and is great for cardio.
I have literally become what I call "fit" from VR exercise alone during this pandemic. I have form to my upper body for the first time in my life due to all the air boxing I am doing in a couple of the games. And the intense aerobic exercises like the music games are great too.
Couldn't find a better video than this to promote VR as not just a gaming platform but much more than that. Great job @VRCauldron and @Stu C. Respect to both of you for making this video too. And welcome to VR Stu C.

VR is a good way to get fit. Lost 20 kg playing boxvr, thrill of the fight and a few more games on my cv1. Will buy a quest 2 next year to finally go wireless. Laughed really bad with the IPD in the last part, since the same happened when I was demoing the rift to a friend sometime ago.
Can you share more about your 20kg? How long did it took you? What routine did you followed? Did you diet or just eat consider amounts and reduce junk food? I can’t wait once I get my oculus 2 to start working out. I need to drop 10kg to be back in shape and fit in my jeans again hehe. Thanks for sharing 👍🏻 and thank to Alex for making this video!
@@BetoSmith89 well I must say my weight at the time was a little more than 120 kg so initially I lose weight fast. Took me like 6 months I think. No diet at that time only 1 hour daily of VR. I've been getting back in shape recently with home workouts and I got Thrill right after this video. I've played 5 opponents now and it's such a blast. Great workout, really engaging and EXHAUSTING. I love VR games that nail the mechanics rather than trying to ham-fist tons of features and have basic stuff barely work. Strong recommend. If you have a quest 1 or 2, buy it on the headset. Having a cable would be very annoying when your running around the room.
*I Have just stepped into the VR Fitness world and i m loving it.I just bought THrill of fight yesterday and then i saw this video I am so happy now with my purchase. Please do more on VR and fitness*
I watched this video yesterday and downloaded 'Thrill of the Fight' last night. That game is no joke! After just one 3-minute round I was winded, sweating, and my headset was fogging up. This really is a good workout!
I'd be interested to see how Stu does at Extreme+ difficulty Beat Saber fitness wise. it can just take a while to get to a skill level where beatsaber actually becomes hard enough to get a cardio workout.
Beat Saber will bring your Heart easy to over 180 BPM and you still want more! There is no Expert+ required when you play this game first time. As a beginner i thought that Normal-level is something i can play through the whole game but i was wet after 20 minutes, and far from doing a camelia-track. Now 6 month later i can do a lot of the tracks with Expert-level. .. and still being wet after 20 minutes, and keep going til i'm done after mybe an hour. Beat-saber brings you allways to your limit- the level required depends on you.
It's going to depend on how fit you already are, Stu is already pretty fit, I can get up to 120 on expert for most songs. And I'm maybe above average for the general public, but unfit compared to most my workmates.
I lost a bunch of weight because of my vr system and it put me back into a good schedule for working out. Definitely a big part of vr that people dont realize can be helpful for their health in some ways.
Played beat saber a lot in vr, at first, it’s not really a workout, but once you get into some crazy hard levels I found you can pull 12-13 calories a minute and a heart rate of 170 when playing 11 star maps
You have the most unique vr videos. Others who dont have the q2 are doing the same speculation videos over and over, while your channel constantly has great unique content.
Ah thanks very much! I kinda meditate on what I could do that could work. Some do some don't. This one didn't get the most views but it did really well considering it's not about the Quest. I think people appreciate the format and it's given me more ideas. Glad you enjoy the content and thanks for the comment 👍
Great video! I always thought VR was good for a guy (like me) in awful shape to get some movement going. But when a fitness enthusiast gets sweaty from just flailing his arms around it's really incredible stuff.
*laughs in 10lbs of weightloss since starting VR workouts* But, it's awesome that he gave it a try and helped others see how much it can get you moving.^^
I put a T-shirt over my head and use the original Quest face pad for workout and I use my VR Cover face pad for normal game play so I don't have to buy a new Quest every time I play Thrill of the Fight.
Haha that's a good idea. I use a kiwi one just for exercise as I really like the stock Quest one. I might do what you do for the Q2 though. I have a big wipe down after every round 😅
Had a similar experience when working as a dance teacher. A couple of my friends who did martial arts said that you didn't need to be as fit to dance as they were to fight.... after a 3 hour dance class (which my regulars did twice a week) there was some "reassessment" required.... and a wheelbarrow to get back to their cars! How about a clip of real dancers trying vr dance? Dance central, fitxr dance work outs etc?
Bruh I literally did xc and track at once I know what a work out is and playing thrill of the fight is 100% a workout. Like I literally put the most fit guy I know who runs varsity football and he was fucking dead after only 30 minuets 😂.
I wasn't expecting to get a full workout with it but think it'll be useful for fun warm ups and to get me up from the desk and moving throughout the day. This was a cool video. Thanks.

@@LokochonWolf I just played an hour too! Didn't duck a single time though, but my arms are burnt! 🙃
Still longing to beat GHOST on expert+
I used to wear a Polar H10 heart rate monitor for Beat Saber, peaked at 199 bpm and got averages over 170 bpm for 50+ minute sessions. Shit's real but it takes too long to learn it so it wouldn't have been suitable for this video.
@@LokochonWolf did you do expert or higher custom songs?
The training exercises in Creed: Rise to glory are a great workout. In particular the one with Rocky where he holds up the pads for you to hit and then you have to duck under his punch it works the legs and back and is great for cardio.
Yeah I like the look of those
The teasing punches in the end though 😂😂😂
I have literally become what I call "fit" from VR exercise alone during this pandemic. I have form to my upper body for the first time in my life due to all the air boxing I am doing in a couple of the games. And the intense aerobic exercises like the music games are great too.
Couldn't find a better video than this to promote VR as not just a gaming platform but much more than that. Great job @VRCauldron and @Stu C. Respect to both of you for making this video too. And welcome to VR Stu C.
BTW. I Subscribed to your channel after watching just this one clip. I'm sure your channel will be amazing. Kudoos buddy.
Thanks man, was fun to do! So fun I got my quest 2 a couple of days ago
Cheers! Yeah nothing like winning people over by showing someone get won over.
Well done Stu, good work and thanks for the "Hello Tim".
You'll have to join us soon. I got some ideas.
I love this! You deserve so many more subs!
I usually do 1 hr Beat Saber with a bit of extra dancing & Jigging + 15 min Pistol Whip + 15 min Thrill of the Fight and that last 15 minutes absolutely knackers me to bits!
Lol dancing and jigging. That sounds like a good routine.
Beat Saber with weight cuffs on your arms is a damn good workout!
Oh yeah I can imagine.
I didnt even think of weight cuffs! Ive been doing 150% speed but that sounds like a good challenge to try
I thought about doing that, but you can really hurt yourself with cuffs on your wrists. would be very easy to tear ligaments if you're not careful
@@Kyle-mo7hx Don't start out with the heaviest you can find. Start small and build up. Warming up with a couple of rounds without first is also recommended as with all physical endevours.
i've thought about this before but don't do it, you'll seriously tear something
That was an amazing video! Definitely going to be getting this on oculus 2! My wife wants to know if there is a way to fight girls instead of guys.. if not.? No problem. We will be moving our couch for this one!
That's brilliant! Sadly it's all guys on this game. There's a sequel coming maybe that'll have some. I'm sure she can stick it to the men though 😱
Good to know you can really get a good workout with this. I love boxing, so this looks like it would be super fun!
Seriously it's amazing. Vr in general is good for getting you moving compared to flat gaming but VR boxing is amazing.
It was epic Chris, can’t recommend it enough!
Hey man, I just recommended this video in my latest one that I"m editing rn haha.
great stuff!!
Just WOW ! This was a great video Al, can't wait to get my Q2 !
Thanks John! Same :)
Gonna grab that boxing game for the potential workout alone. Great coverage and quality as always Cauldron!
Cheers! Yeah it'll make you SWEAT 😥
But when I reached 100 noticed it was difficult to lose more weight only with that so started a diet. Now I do about 4 hours of VR a week and getting close to 90 kg.
Great video, made me laugh. Brilliant reaction when He first put on the headset, probably the same reaction we all get when seeing VR for the first time 😲
Really interesting as I do like to keep fit. I can't wait to give this a go when my Quest 2 comes. Also I think you'd be a great presenter on the Gadget Show or something.
Haha thanks a lot. I'd say that would be great but I bet it's a lot of work.
@@VRCauldron yeah probably a lot of travelling too, and not much time to enjoy VR.
@@robgatlas yep. But it'd still be cool
Great 👍👍👍👍👍👍 Did you tell him that he can pull the ball back in Racket fury? By the way, whenever I'm playing fittness games with it I put a towel over my head and then the Quest. It feels better and the towel takes most of the sweat. Besides all of this it was one of the best videos lately!
Ah cheers! You know I totally forgot to tell him that he could have hit it more often then.
Ya know, for him not being a boxer, he seems to have a really good stance
Wow, when I clicked on this video I expected to find a normal video, and I found an awesome video, I really expected to see u with 900K+ subs but then I realized it was not even near that, this channel has a lot of potential, keep it up man! Subbed
Thanks Anogram! I'm going for the occasional video that's kind of like Top Gear for VR 🤣
Great vid Al! Poor Stu fighting with blurred vision haha
Haha that's one of the problems with VR in that the person showing someone else has no idea how they're perceiving it. I should've remembered the ipd though 🤣
Shadowboxing with or without VR will kick your ass. That being said actually having a visual opponent makes it really appealing to me.
He *needs* to try Sprint Vector.
That's one nice workout where the speed of your movement counts, and you're doing all kinds of movements.
Sprint Vector is awesome! My go-to VR fitness app. So much fun!
What do you do in it/how does it work, I’m looking for an arsenal of fitness ‘games’ for when I get my quest
@@stuc2251 this is a review for the PSVR version, but I assume the Quest version is similar. It should give you an idea, anyway.

@@huwguyver4208 cheers Huw, I’ll check it out!
Fantastic video. Would love to see a followup collab where you and stu have curated a top five games for intensity work outs on the quest 2? My cousin, brother, and i all got quests over the last couple months and it would be cool to maybe find somethings thats multiplayer that could be done together for the same purpose. Anyways, subbed and ive got the bell on. I look forward to more of your content!!!
I'm a fit guy, and Thrill of the Fight always leaves me drenched and I'm usually sore the next day from it also. It is a workout.
I typically throw 400+ punches in a fight.
Hmm I need to pay more attention to how many punches I throw. I usually go 7-8 rounds at a time.
@@VRCauldron I think mine have all been 3-5 round. I'm punching like crazy.
@@johchadow as you get used to the mechanics it gets easier. You can move their guard around and when they aren't guarding the sides if their head you can really pound on them. Also don't go crazy until you've winded them.
I think it’s because when you’re in a fight it’s easy to really push yourself
As soon as I saw the laughing Mr. Smith after the difficulty setting reveal, it was over. I subbed. Great content man! :). I also sneezed on my hands before typing this, so no matter which way you thumb this, now you have COVID. 8:29
haha thanks. Not for covid though.
@@VRCauldron No take backs! :D
Fitness fanatic: Crushes egg with bicep
Me: Facepalm
I really love VR content like this. It is so rare. Thank you! wonderful job.
For an extra bit of resistance wear a weighted vest for more difficulty and a better workout!
"you CAN'T exercise in VR" my arms after playing beat saber for the first time beg to differ sir.
Thrill of the fight is a great game.
Dont play it everyday because me and the floor gets wet :D
Haha! I know what you mean. I've been banned from fighting in the living room as I fling sweat onto the mirror 🤣
I setup a curtain around my play area, doesn't take longer than 5-10 minutes to setup, works even with 4 hooks, though I recommend more.
Was mainly to prevent my controller flying out of my hand to a monitor, safety strap broke, maybe its solution.
great vid, and the 'o I forgot to tell him about the ipd slider' was hilarious... :)
Haha yeah he was punch drunk the whole time 🤣
It’s only been like ten days since you hit 1k, you just passed 3k, looking forward to your growth, love this channel
This morning he was 2.9 k 😮
Thanks Johnny. It did slow a little and I was worried that this video wouldn't get watched as it's not about Quest 2 but luckily people seem to enjoy it. I'm just enjoying making content and I hope it shows 👍
VRCauldron haha you where worried this wouldn’t get watched and now it’s you most popular video at 100k views 🤯
@@JBARTNICKI yeah it's mad. I should have had more faith, I thought people just wanted to hear about the Quest 2.
Great video man I loved it. Just got my quest 2 and thrill off the fight was the first game that I bought !!!
Title: Fitness Fanatic said you cant exercise in VR
Guy: I am skeptical
So was he
@@VRCauldron he didn't say that you CAN'T workout in VR, and after seeing this video I can see that while VR can be a decent exercise, I wouldn't recommend it as your main exercise routine, yeah it's better than wii. but please work out in a proper manner and know your body
I would say in the scheme of clickbait, this delivers on what the thumnail suggests therefore isn't. Plus why does he have to say the exact line in the video? He could have said it to me before which is why we made the video. He's a friend in real life I can't write down everything he says and put it on the thumbnail 😉
@@JanyaAndromedaGalactic hehe thanks. I did do a wink face, maybe i should stick with laugh crying face 🤣

Thanks Hugo! Honoured to have your first comment and sub 👍
i saw u at 50 subs now ur at 3k , nicee!!!!
Thanks. It picked up a bit 2 weeks ago
YOU are special! If you BELIEVE, anything is possible. Go, follow your dreams, and believe in yourself! Make that decision to reach for your dreams, and NEVER look back!!
Never tire of first time VR experiences! Wholesome :)
You know someone is tired on totf when they just start flailing right hooks
I've been getting back in shape recently with home workouts and I got Thrill right after this video. I've played 5 opponents now and it's such a blast.
Great workout, really engaging and EXHAUSTING. I love VR games that nail the mechanics rather than trying to ham-fist tons of features and have basic stuff barely work. Strong recommend. If you have a quest 1 or 2, buy it on the headset. Having a cable would be very annoying when your running around the room.
Nice one! Yep its so good 👍
Gotta show this to my mom!
Maybe she'll get a Quest 2 😄
*I Have just stepped into the VR Fitness world and i m loving it.I just bought THrill of fight yesterday and then i saw this video I am so happy now with my purchase. Please do more on VR and fitness*
These guys are literally my teachers. This is pretty cool.

11:15 "Special Move!!! Circle punch barrage (with one arm)" XD
You know your tired when your in a rush to sit in a chair that's not real😂
It was amazing! Your on the way to the top with those videos! No pressure! ;)
Haha thanks. I'm trying not to put pressure on myself 🤣
I’m quite sad I was the 70th view. It was perfection.
70 is a nice number!
69 is better
@@claudio7010 haha
I love how he keeps trying to put his arms on the ropes, and the announcer voices are spot on lol
Stu is a beast. Your stamina is insane and it looks like you could seriously punch some dude in the face 5 times and still run away in time. :p
Thanks man! Although I’m way too cowardly to punch some guy!
Yeah it's definitely a great workout at those high skill levels. I wanted it as game 2 but as a new player he wouldn't be good enough.
i mean i keep spamming "fitbeat" on hard level 150% speed and im completely finished after a session.
But im also fat so.
@@markdavies407 haha I have to use custom songs to get any sort of workout now. I play competitively.
Try multi player, it gives the game new life
Great video. I purchased the quest 2 and excited about fittness games. I going to have to pick up the boxing game. Thanks brother!
Yeah it's ace!
Skipped to "thrill of the fight" and had a laugh, that game is exhausting. That being said, was totally rooting for Stu.
"he's winding it up, he's becoming a cartoon!" hahaha
Great video! I always thought VR was good for a guy (like me) in awful shape to get some movement going. But when a fitness enthusiast gets sweaty from just flailing his arms around it's really incredible stuff.
this is incredible
Cheers!
*laughs in 10lbs of weightloss since starting VR workouts*
But, it's awesome that he gave it a try and helped others see how much it can get you moving.^^
The boxing fight was intense
Shadow boxing is one hell of a workout. The VR just gives you motivation.
Fitness Fanatic: you can’t get good exercise in VR
Me: *wiping sweat off my headset for the 5th time* scuse me?????
Great job Stu! That was really good for your first time.😁
I put a T-shirt over my head and use the original Quest face pad for workout and I use my VR Cover face pad for normal game play so I don't have to buy a new Quest every time I play Thrill of the Fight.
One of the reasons I bought a Rift-S is to introduce this game to my wife. ☺️
The box vr has multiplayer so you could be in the same class together. That would be cool
"How is VR dog walking, is it a'ight?". That one got me haha!
Thrilled of the fight put my brother on the floor too. He's a personal fitness trainer : D

great video!! and a great testament to the power of VR by validating its use by a fitness instructor!!
well done!!
Bruh I literally did xc and track at once I know what a work out is and playing thrill of the fight is 100% a workout. Like I literally put the most fit guy I know who runs varsity football and he was fucking dead after only 30 minuets 😂.
It's brutal. I think boxing in general is a whole different level of fitness that people are never ready for.
I wasn't expecting to get a full workout with it but think it'll be useful for fun warm ups and to get me up from the desk and moving throughout the day. This was a cool video. Thanks.
Glad you liked it. Any vr game is good for getting you up and moving. But Thrill of the Fight and harder bix vr and beatsaber are killer!
