My two year-old Harlequin Macaw talking in the mirror and telling my Blue and Gold Macaw to "sssshhhhh." This was the first time that I had seen/heard him do the "ssshh."

@@AquaBubblez13 I always come back to this video. I don't know why but he seems like a brainey act. He just looks thoughtful and reserved. I could be way off.
OMG! That is hilarious. You never know what they're going to do to make you bust out laughing on a daily basis. I have a 5 yr old Harlequin and he does this same kind of stuff. They're so great!
I laughed my ass off the first time I watched this. It's still funny everytime I watch it. I think you have to own a couple of parrots to truly appreciate how funny it is.
After many times watching this for at least a few years now, this is still easily one of my top ten favorite youtube videos. What a sweet bird you have! :-D
What words a parrot picks up and uses in conversation is often a good indicator of the kind of treatment they receive. "Hello," "What's up?" and the "Kissing noise" show that the parrot is well socialized with it's owner. If you look at the bird and know much of anything about Parrots you could see that he has a healthy color to his feathers and that his feet are in good condition to indicate he has good housing. Bird books are interesting you should read some! I owned a budgie myself.
...A friendly "Hi" from Cincinnati...I don't care how many times I watch this cute video, [and I'll confess to it being MORE than a FEW...haha] ...I just crack up all over again...I mean it's simply priceless!!! I don't know what's funnier...this stunningly GORGEOUS boy spontaneously lifting his foot up and whispering "shhhhhhh" to his NOISY buddy somewhere in the background, or your obvious own surprise while you try to keep from cracking up yourself...Thanks for such fun entertainment!
LOL!!! I love the "whats up" I dont know why birds love mirrors so much. Ours flip out and talk to themselves in the mirrors too. Very funny! And your bird is absolutely beautiful! Keep up the great work!!!
Haha. I love macaws, all parrots in general really. Today my greenwing was playing with my mom and me and I heard her yell "WHY I OTTA" for the first time. They're full of surprises.
the parrot is thinking: that parrot in front does exactly the same gestures as me, I think that in reality that parrot is me and that my image is being reflected in what looks like solid water
identical to my Catalina Parrot. same colors, just different breed. Does the same tricks. And that yelling in the back, yeah mine does that from time to time as well..
OMGosh!!! that is just absolutely hilarious :) I loved the shhh... lol and it was two separate times lol so it was intended hahahaha!!!! I had to laugh just hard lol my harlequin sitting here listening to the video lol he likes listening to other macaws lol
Wow!!!,,, great bird, great video, could not believe the "sshhh" NEVER seen a bird do that before!!, wonder if its very common,,,,have a feeling its not
I've officially watched this 6 times in the last 10 minutes and am crying as a result. I work with macaws at a major Aquarium and would pee my pants if my guys did that. Our blue and gold DOES say "KNOCK IT OFF" when the other birds start screaming, but the foot/beak shushing action is effing PRICELESS. Well done, sir. haha
What a gorgeous macaw Matisse is! I had never seen a Harlequin macaw before I came across your video. And his "Shhh!" is just too awesome--you obviously must love him very much, all the best to you both (and your B&G too).
He is sweet, I cared for a blue and gold Macaw once and owned a African Grey (Max the Macaw) would screech and talk non stop and Bobby (the grey) did not care for it much because for much of there alone time you would here max screech and Bobby yell "Knock it Off" (I am sure he learned that from me because he often said it to the children when they were being noisy or romping" I love that he says shhhhh much more pleasant ... lol
Yeah, I've seen a lot of parrots do that! It's called "eye-pinning", and usually happens when the bird is focusing hard -- which makes sense, when you consider they're speaking a second language which they don't really have the vocal apparatus for.
Well they do, sort of. Parrots have a very advanced throat and beak which means they can mimic a ton of sounds accurately in addition to their syrinx which is basically if your vocal chords were a synthesizer as they can voice two pitches at once.
So Funny when he says ''Sssshhh'' with his foot XD !!!!!! My Quacker Parrot also say ''Sssshhh'' but omg it would be so funny if he could do it with his leg too !!!!!!
The fact that he uses his foot just adds so much to the "Shhhh".
I love it!
I love how he slowly pinches his talons closed the second time he says "shh."
He needs to say zip it when he does that
He even does the little finger thug with his talons! So cute and intelligent!!
the shhhhhhhhhhh with the finger killed me XD that's awesome
0:31 "*puts talon to beak* Ok, just be quiet ples, am talking to my birb self." 1:01 "*clenches talons* SILENCE OR DEATH UPON YOU!"
I have fun imagining that humans are this intelligent compared to an alien race. XD
Unfortunately it's probably true XD
We’re probably closer on the spectrum to the parrot than to aliens
That's how I see God lol
That we think we know and Control everything but in real we are so so limiter and small
Absolutely adorable! I love how he holds his foot up to his beak as he says 'shhhhhh'!

He's beautiful (lovely condition) and a great talker compared to other Macaws.

Laughed so hard when he shushed the other bird!! Thanks for that!
Amazed and creeped out at the same time.
