- We are Brian & Jessica, a married couple who started on a life-changing whole food, plant-based weight loss journey back in June 2018. In June 2022, our lives were flipped upside-down when Jessica was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer. We continue to share our adventures (highs, lows, struggles & everything in between) in following a plant-based diet while keeping you up-to-date on Jessica's cancer treatment. In October 2023, we welcomed our very first child via gestational carrier.

Congratulations!! I'm so happy for you!! As a realtor, I'm going to tell you the same thing I tell all my buyers. Live in the house a bit before you start renovating. I hear all kinds of plans from folks and they do jump in and then two years down the road they say...we should have done this instead of that. LOL So only do what drives you crazy right now and slowly figure out what you do want to do!!

We have a multi-year plan for the house so far. But there are a bunch of things that need work in the house before we can move in. But we are going to take our time with the kitchen. 😁
When I was getting a place. I had a 5 year plan and figured I'd get it done early. Most of it was just really obvious things that needed to be fixed and then a little bit of improvement but nothing changed as far as the era. And nothing dramatic. I think going in and changing kitchens and bathrooms dramatically is insulting to the house. L o l in yes, it's some nineties marvel our ball yucky to pickle, looking whatever. Event eighties is pretty ugly. I like my house is old. And I like the pipes to show under the sink in the bathroom. That's what they made those cute little curtains for. I'm kind of aware though. I like things the way they are and I get really sentimental. When I go into an old house and I see a modern kitchen. I just wilt. It actually makes me sad. When I say old I mean thirties and before.

How exciting! Congratulations 🎉. we are in our 6th fixer upper! But then we’ve been married 53 yrs. We started in a Mobile-home in California , then a one bedroom, we tried moving away, but always came back. We are now in a four bedroom. It’s been paid off for 24 yrs! Each and every home became a part of us. A word from experience… take before and after photos of each project 😉

Congratulations on the house!! The first house my husband and I ever bought as a young couple was a fixer-upper. We did a lot of the work ourselves, so we loved that house and had no intention of moving (an epic job offer was the driving force behind that move--and we're still here). Getting the house to where you want to be is a process and it's a fun and exasperating one! I envy you that. Elsie is growing like a proverbial weed and she seems like a really good baby! She's certainly a cute one! Looking forward to seeing more of the house and the renovations as you get them done, seeing Elsie grow even more, and more recipes in the new Krock kitchen.
The kitchen has so much natural light. That is so wonderful. I love the snowy scene outside the window. That scene is worth thousands.

My dryer and my oven crapped out at the same time here, so I know what you're saying about not wanting to move in completely, especially with Elsie. So exited for you buying your first home. Have fun fixing it up. I actually love what I see of the kitchen. Elsie... remember that it's better to foof and bear the shame; then not to foof, and bear the pain. Hope that was a relief!!!
I’d much rather have a dated house that is desperate for an update than one that has been updated in a hurry so it can be flipped. I have, plastered over paneling, stripped wallpaper with velvet flocking, and ripped out avocado sink and range hood. I hope your new home brings you as much joy as mine did for me. God bless you!

FYI if she is slobbering a lot, you might want to check and see if she is possibly teething. My daughter started getting teeth at 2 months old.

Congratulations! We bought an older house (built in 1950) in 2017 and gutted and renovated the entire place. It was a huge labour of love.
Our house also had a long history of one family, also a WWII veteran. I was lucky enough to meet him after we bought the house.

I knew it was a new home. Congratulations! She is so cute. I am 100 percent plant based now. I am loving it. Can not wait for crocks in the Kitchen again. I do hope you show us the house as you go. All that comes with that. Especially the baby's room. I love older homes, something comforting about them and the life that has been in them. Looking forward to seeing it all.
