You have every single right to complain. You probably worked hard to save up for this car, and you deserve a working one. If a car doesn't work like it should, you should be able to get your money back.
Even if he didnt work hard, to pay for the car, even if he bought it after winning the lottery, this is still a joke! Porsche should really get their shit together.
When I was a child growing up I spent a lot of time in the hospital for health related issues. I had some of the best doctors in the world who also drove Porches. I grew so close with my doctors through the years that they used to take me for drives when I was stable enough to leave the hospital for an hour or so. Those were some of the best moments of my life racing down the back roads where the only on lookers were cows and other various farm animals! These moments helped drive a deep desire and respect for Porsche. A little bit of my childhood died with this video. Good luck!
Threatening your customer is NO WAY to treat a loyal individual to your brand. These type of problems shouldn't happen with a car of this high a value. This had to be a fluke out of 10,000's of cars. The question is, how come Porsche or the dealers didn't find out about it before they had it up for sale? I am so glad Porsche is giving him a new car but only AFTER Jalopnik and other media showed interest in the story.
Even after Porsche resolved these issues, I think the damage is done. I have owned 5 (Five) Porsches and after watching this video, I am going to think long and hard before buying another one. I do not care how successful a car company Porsche is. If it stops caring about its customers, I will not be one.
Choi David Several literally means "being more than two but fewer than many in number." I would pay "several" thousand dollars for an old toyota corolla. Several does not mean close to 100k (~85k plus options, tax, registration, etc)
Wow, just wow. The issues that he's had are bad enough in any car but this thing cost what, $120k? (Just guessing) And then they have the nerve to jerk him around? Here's what Porsche should do before he sues them. Offer to replace the car with a brand new one and give him $5,000 back for the unacceptable inconveniences experienced. Anything short of that is a joke. Smoke and water coming inside a $100k+ car? Are you kidding me? I used to dream of owning one of these (even though they charge ridiculous prices on their options.) But knowing this is how Porsche NA treats their customers I think I'll pass. Thank you for posting this and saving me the time and money.
Just saw the update. Glad they gave you your money back but I still think they behaved very badly when considering the extraordinary issues and the cost of the car. You should have gotten your money back plus some additional compensation. They are still tarnished in my eyes.
My view on Porsche has been changed. This is actually making me reconsider whether i should buy a Porsche at all now. I really was hoping this was sorted by now but no excuses if Porsche can do this to you then I'm sure they will to me if i have a problem. Looks like i need to shop elsewhere
Do yourself a favour, and avoid any Porsche made after 1995 or so. Get an older one which is in showroom condition; the sound and feel of an older 911 can't be beat.
My first and only EVER car break down and tow was in a Porsche. This was DAY TWO with car. Later the headlight washer cover fell off. Then the knob for the hand brake kept falling out. Then the seat memory stopped working sometimes. SMH
Brother, please. I could never get tired of your accent. Hell, I wish I had it. I sound like a damn used car salesman. Now read me some bed time stories.
I understand being frustrated not only with the car but with the behavior of Porsche NA as well. But writing off an entire company due to one man's experience seems immature.
Maybe so. But without evidence that there _are_ others we can't presume that they exist. Basically, without evidence, the question can easily be restated: Who's to say he _isn't_ the only one? And make as much sense.
Wow, that's horrible , Nick ! I was really hoping contacting Porsche in germany for you, would help...Really sorry to hear now that Porsche NA is treating you this way. What a shame ! Greetings from germany, Guido
Congrats! Nick. Looking forward to hearing how it was resolved. As a Porsche owner I have obviously a keen interest on how Porsche may treat me if a similar problem arises.
Oh wow. I've always been a Porsche fan. I mostly like the old ones though. Having said that, I've never had any problems like this with my Miatas... new or old. Nor my Toyota truck (even though Toyota is in the hot seat right now). I'd be mortified if I saved for 5 years to buy a dream car and this happens.
That is awfull, I really feel bad for you. I think you just happened to get a total lemon. They should refund all the costs. I drove a Cayenne for years and it never had a single issue.
Holy crap. You're a very patient and polite man considering all that's demonstrably wrong with this turd on wheels. But at least your 911 has not burned itself down like the current GT3 tends to do...!
Oh Wow! I just finished configuring a car at the Porsche site. Was about to send call the dealer to order...this video made me think....I couldn't in a million years think that this could happen to a Porsche and that the customer service was so terrible....I'll start looking for another brand..Thanks a lot Nick
It should never have gotten to the point where you had to make this video, but isn't it a great time we live in where, when we get jerked around like this, we can call the fuckers out, and spread the word online. I hope they see this and shit their pants. Looking forward to seeing what you replace this dud with.
Never buying one. This video is enough for me to justify that. What a nightmare. Good job, Porsche...drag it along. And now to save some money they're willing to risk the future cash flow of a certain percentage of people that saw this video that maybe would have bought one but were thinking about it still. Terrible customer service model - the worst!
BigDette Lemon or not is irrelevant, what is on display is the lack of confidence one could expect out of the Porsche brand to take care of their customers
As the old saying goes, don't tar everybody with the same brush. Just because one car has so many faults doesn't mean they all do. HAd this been in Europe, Porsche would have already either replaced the car or refunded the money. It's just Porsche North America that don't know what they are doing.
Stay away from all VW cars. Audi, Porsche, VW, Lambo, Bentley etc. VW is the worst of the worst. They have managed to turn all those great companies above into massive scam houses.
I would like to hear the other side of the story before making bold statements. But that takes effort, and we can trust this random dude we don't know.
+Jeff K Why the fuck would you buy a Porche SUV? That's just flashy and basically not even buying a Porche... when you buy a Porche... you buy a Porche not a piece of shit SUV...
Mirozenx Well you are buying a Porsche (not porche lol). It doesn't matter whether it is a 911 or a Cayenne a Porsche is a Porsche and it should hold to its word.
Great video, Nick. Thanks for the warning and I hope you get your money back. I've dreamed of owning a Porsche since I was a kid but this video scared the crap out of me. I've owned 2 Audi A4's and they both have displayed the same problems/flaws with materials in the interior of the car. One time I was at the Audi dealer getting my car serviced and a lady pulls up with a Porsche Boxter, brand new. She can't close the trunk in the front. Somehow it got misaligned and it wouldn't close. Great job at exposing the truth.
NICK!!!Thank you so much man! Because of you Porsche North America is going to take care of my Cayman!!!I have fighting these guys for a year and after this shit storm of bad PR they settled with me! They were scared to death of more bad Press and made right what was wrong. Your the best!
funny watching this and seeing all of your frustrations yet still going back to a new 911. I had a 2016 Camaro SS that had only a couple things wrong with it, but it annoyed me and I ditched it, got a boxster 718S but missed the V8 drama and back into a SS 1LE. I love the car and nothing wrong with it that I can tell, so far!
You really don't even need a lawyer in most cases. Since this one is blatantly a LEMON, they should replace it or refund the full value of the car, and you won't need to pay a lawyer. If they don't comply, report them to the Better Business Bureau. Use the lawyer as a last resort, but threaten to get one in order to get what you deserve
51stPresident The BBB is a joke. It is an organization for businesses, funded by businesses. It is a local organization; but Porsche is an international organization. They have no interest in BBB nor vice versa.
Kurt Tappe agreed, as long as you pay their subscription they could care less. He just needs to say either replace it with a new one, return the money, or see you in court. I've seen dodge and chevy replace year old cars with new ones just to avoid a lawsuits. Sad that a luxury sports car company has such shitty service.
I was actually considering buying a Porsche in the next few months, as I expected the service to be better than the shafting I've had with my BMW M3 recently (won't go into it, but I've had similar problems with the electrics). Now I've seen your plight though, it seems I'd be no better off. So Porsche has lost a customer due to your video, my man! Thanks for spreading the word.
Never. Think about it. Hand built by skilled techs, or robots with 1 millionth the computing power of the human brain and one trillionth of our dexterity. Also, how sick looking was the 91 M5? That expression on a slightly furrowed brow, as opposed to the wild make up wearing transvestite looking V10 M5. Yeah have fun with your leaky sunroof and terrible gas mileage for your unusable performance.
Bit of a wierd argument, robots do a much better job of welding and placing parts than a human - they don't need a human brain, they have a program - that's why virtually all cars are built on automated lines. A robot doesn't come in drunk, get pissed off with its job, or forget things. Saying that, I've built kit cars, so not totally opposed to hand-built stuff. I've got a current model M3, and it's a much better car than the E36, E46, or Z3M I've had in the past. It's got plenty of power (has had a lot of upgrades including Evolve 650hp supercharger) and is a lot more comfortable and handles better than any previous BMW I've had. I've had faster cars, but not one as useable as a daily driver. A supercharged V8 sounds gorgeous too. No inline 6 compares to it. Anyway, whatever floats your boat. I personally like to stay current. Getting the M4 this year :)
Yea tell that to the guy who bought the 991. Craftsmanship is not something a robot knows anything about. The humans that plan around and run the robots btw are basically all noobs to the process. My old hand built 1988 420 SEL would outlast ANY car on the market today. That being said the supercharged V8 with the 8 speed ZF just sounds like good clean fun. In my opinion the simpler the better. I remember when cars didn't have cup holders because it posed too much of a distraction... just sayin, made more sense than to pack a car with gadgets that break easily.
I can't wait to see the next update with the issue being resolved, you were the first post on reddit today. That is enough attention to gauge a response.
bonamin Honda hahahaha thats my story brother!!! In my 5 years of Honda ownership, all I did is oil change ---> $39.99 from the jiffy lube (that too on 20% discount) lol
+Tadeh Bedrosian I also have a lexus which I think is a wonderful performance car and it is a luxury car too. I had a VW prior to Japanese car and to summarize that car - junk.
+Tadeh Bedrosian You may poke fun at Hondas, but compare a Honda Accord today with a sports car from a few years back, and I'd say the Honda wouldn't be that bad. Might even beat a few of those sports cars. And who is this "we" that you're talking about? Everyone enjoys performance. It's all relative, and all about the fun you can have.
+bonamin Honda When the Japanese made sports cars way back when they were less reliable than accords and civics. To an extent its a bit in the nature of high performance engines, transmissions, and how they are driven. I think porche is rated fairly high for high performance cars, compare to ferrari, lambo, etc.
You are honestly one of the most level-headed people i've seen. If i saved up for 5 years and finally got a lemon of a dream car... i would be irate! Saw your second video and i'm pleased to hear you are considering another Por-shuh (heh heh)
Wow Nick, sorry to see this has happened. I remember watching your first video on this car and it was really something to look forward to and look up to. An average dude saves up his money and instead of spending it on family etc, gets a sweet ride! Now to see this really makes me disappointed. You'd think after making the "same" car for 50+ years they'd get it right when it comes to simply Q/C. I wish you good luck and keep us posted.
Holy shit man! I feel for you. I was contemplating going new or used 911. That’s why I’m watching your vids. Seriously thinking staying used now. Good luck.
I think you are SO lucky to be able to drive (have driven (hopefully one day again drive)) that car, i think it is too cool. Unlucky with all the issues, that must blow.
Had the same crazy horn replacement thing on a Cayenne! Plus water draining was bad and there were an accumulation in the doors!! Plus there's a noise coming from the speakers and it's not resolved after 3/4 times at the Porsche garage!!!
Send this thing to the Top Gear UK offices. I'm not kidding. Clarkson would have a field day with this on their news segment, since he despises Porsches.
Hey Nick, I am really glad Porsche did the right thing at the end. Because they did, I will continue to pursue my purchase of my 911. I am looking forward to seeing your 1 year and 15k mile service experience. Cheers, Gerry
I worked at a Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram, SRT dealer for half a year back when I was in college (mid-to-late 2013,) and this same type of thing would happen to Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 owners. We had a very well-off client bring his gorgeous, black GC SRT8. He stood at the service counter where I worked and begged us in the office to get something done about his car. According to him: the car lights wouldn't work at times, the wipers would go off at random times, and that the car's horn wouldn't go off when he pressed the button on the steering wheel. Long story short, after a few days, we discovered his GC SRT8 parked out front with a sign that said: "NOT FOR SALE, if there are any questions, please dial: 1-800-***-****" The man lemon lawed the truck. Sad sad sad. I tried to call the number to see if I could buy it, but the leasing company kicked me to the curb over the phone rather quickly, and that was the end of that. I later found out the "brain" of the car was causing problems to most of these cars and that the replacements were on extreme backorder with the distributors. Crazy stuff with these pricey vehicles, huh?
As a hard working individual, like yourself, who values true craftsmanship and racing heritage in his cars, I will never buy a Porsche after watching this. Porsche, do the right thing and replace this car.
First of your videos I’ve watched. It’s like a car wreck ...I can’t look away and need to know what happens in the end. Good video and I’m hoping to find out, when I look at your other videos, that you got your money back.
It's absolutely unbelievable what happens to you / your car. I got a new 991 C4S two months ago and my car is nearly perfect. I really enjoy that funny toy every day again and its worth every cent. The car is my "best friend". Hope you took a Porsche again and now happy with it. Anyhow!
He bought a product which he worked hard for to save and it's a shit product. He's not asking for anything more than ANY consumer would ask for if they bought a defective product. When I go out to eat, I want my food cooked the way I ask. When I buy a car, it better fucking work.
I give this guy's sense of humor while handling the problem that was dealt to him by the dealer. To Mr Murray, I hope your problem gets resolved and I hope I get to shake your hand someday after your problem gets resolved :)
I just watched your videos on the 911 and I hope Porsche read this... I am in the market for a sports car and was considering buying a 911. Now I will be watching this space closely. Good luck Nick.
If you watch all of Nick's videos about this 911 (991) you will see he special ordered it new and loved driving it and that it had only a few initial minor problems. The fact that the dealer replaced the rear sensor with the wrong colored one was the first clue: The real problem here is the service department at the dealer where he takes his car. My guess is they messed up the car when working on it. It sounds like there were electrical problems after they worked on the heater. And the water on the floor -- there's no way it left the factory doing that -- that was also a sign that the car was poorly serviced and not put back together correctly. I'll bet they messed up the re-assembly and that led to the water leaks, electrical problems and scraping wires. The problem here is mostly that the service department broke a beautiful car. The service department of this dealer alone will have cost Porsche sales with everyone that reconsiders purchasing a Porsche after seeing this video.
My thoughts exactly. It's hard to believe that all of these catastrophic problems would happen randomly in a brand new car. Then again, who *wouldn't* want a pool in their car? Haha.
My father has been saving for a car quite a bit, and now I know to tell him to take the 911 out of the picture. We were heavily thinking about purchasing one. Thank you for putting this out their.
i feel your pain bro. I bought a new landrover and in 3 years my list was way longer, but the real issue is the down time you suffer, i complained etc but got no where. i wish you the best of luck RB
Nick - your are my hero! I used to dream of buying a Porsche too. I am so sick of companies happily taking peoples money for the sale then completely jerking them around when things go bad. I had the same situation with Chrysler. Never again. Too bad there was not youtube back then. Good on you for taking them on and showing them they can't just blow off an unhappy customer. You saved me a ton of money.
Sharing on G+. Just because someone buys an expensive car doesn't make them rich. I have been there. Its a gut wrenching experience, you feel betrayed and helpless that the money you made by sweat and blood becomes useless. #Porsche 911
Much like you I am in the same boat for saving my money to get a elite sports car. Thank you for showing this video, Porsche will definitely be off the list. In college I had an old Acura Integra, not a problem of any sorts compared to what you had. Definitely sad things that companies make horrible products with no accountability. Glad you made this video.
Great videos Nick. Glad to hear you got some satisfaction. I am wondering what your replacement car will be?? :) I'm sure we will see it in a video down the road.....
They should just give you another car at this point
Or two lol shit theyve been such douches.
Edit: (Obviously kidding)
poop mapants Hahah
You have every single right to complain. You probably worked hard to save up for this car, and you deserve a working one. If a car doesn't work like it should, you should be able to get your money back.
Even if he didnt work hard, to pay for the car, even if he bought it after winning the lottery, this is still a joke! Porsche should really get their shit together.
Totally dude. You pay the price of a product, you deserve the damn product that does what it's meant to do!
This is the most REAL video I've seen in my life... Good job Nick!
"Excuse me Mr. Porsche? Richard Hammond is on line two. Says it's urgent..."
We need him to appear on Top Gear! Jeremy would love him haha
FordSony13 why
COME ON PORCHE PAY THE MAN HIS MONEY!!!!!!!

I rarely stumble across those I sub to in comments on other videos, but this was cool haha! Its amazing what can evoke emotion.

Completely unacceptable
This is pretty fucking pathetic from Porsche. When you pay several thousands of dollars for a car, you expect it to work more than 6 months..
Several thousand? Tens of thousands. Porsches definitely aren't cheap; I would be flipping my shit if this happened to me
Hairy Squid Tens of thousands means several thousand lol.
Hairy Squid its the same meaning l0l
Choi David Several literally means "being more than two but fewer than many in number." I would pay "several" thousand dollars for an old toyota corolla. Several does not mean close to 100k (~85k plus options, tax, registration, etc)
Choi David hundreds of thousands!
Hmm.. didn't know Porsche had such a terrible QA.
It's probably because it's the North American branch.
Wow, just wow. The issues that he's had are bad enough in any car but this thing cost what, $120k? (Just guessing) And then they have the nerve to jerk him around? oneaburns He should buy a C-7 Stingray now.
Your car broke down on the side of the road. So ask for those costs also.
My view on Porsche has been changed. This is actually making me reconsider whether i should buy a Porsche at all now. I really was hoping this was sorted by now but no excuses if Porsche can do this to you then I'm sure they will to me if i have a problem. Looks like i need to shop elsewhere

***** It's also pretty much the safest thing on the road, and it's insanely fast. I too put my vote down for the Tesla.

You have an incredible personality, I can't believe you took it all so well. I'm glad it's been resolved, good luck with the new one!
My dad drove Porches all his life (including this new model), rock solid cars ...
However this dude should get his money back for sure
I did not expect this lack of quality from Porsche. I thought they had good customer service and quality products but obviously not.
I would contact porsche germany
Let us know whats happening!
I find it ridiculous how poorly they've sorted things out for you.
Brother, please. I could never get tired of your accent.
Hell, I wish I had it. I sound like a damn used car salesman.
Now read me some bed time stories.
But Sir Horseface. You're voice is perfect. Now read me a Candy Corner video pls.
OryxLoL
Baby, for you I'll make 1000 videos.
This video makes me suddenly feel good about the very few minor issues with my 2001 Ford Windstar mini van (bought the car for $2000 last year).
Thank you so much for this video!
I'll be buying Ferrari instead.
This video has been very helpful in helping me decide on what cars I will buy.
Karim Besbes Not sure why you want to call me names. Maybe I will delete your worthless comment.
never buying a Porsche. what trash.
Porsche makes very high quality cars, this one is just a lemon.
*****
They treat there customers like trash to match the car. I really hope he does get a replacement. This is just stupid.

Porche's facebook page is getting hammered with this video lol
And suddenly my Lada feels not so bad at all, lol.
Also great job Porsche - almost a million people now witnessed this epic fail.

Perhaps the Attorney General could be of some assistance. I'm pretty sure having the car in the shop for 60 days is enough to call it a lemon.
These are grounds for a full refund or a full restitution. This guy must love his car too much to cope with all that bullshit!

Make lemonade.
I shared this video, I hope he gets a replacement car.
Buy an M car with an inline 6 and a manual... or fail.
will ..............
Wow, maybe one day you'll make it out of the eighties :)
Modern higher end cars are now so complicated and mass produced that really are lease only vehicles. It's insane to buy one. They are huge risks.
Hire that lemon lawyer who got 700k from mercedes
I can't wait to see the next update with the issue being resolved, you were the first post on reddit today. That is enough attention to gauge a response.
Until now, Porsche was one of my plans, after this video I'll rethink that idea. Thank you for sharing this and keep us updated!
I've got a 20 year old Honda and the problem I get, is I am too bored to clean it.
Buy a Honda. Drive in Peace.
bonamin Honda hahahaha thats my story brother!!!
+Tadeh Bedrosian Yeah NSX's and S2K's are totally not performance cars....
+bonamin Honda
When the Japanese made sports cars way back when they were less reliable than accords and civics. To an extent its a bit in the nature of high performance engines, transmissions, and how they are driven. I think porche is rated fairly high for high performance cars, compare to ferrari, lambo, etc.
Have you considered taking advantage of the lemon law? check your states law for specifics.
Just go with the lemon law filing. Don't let them push you to take something that isn't fair.
UNREAL!!! just stopped me from ordering a 2020 922 vert. I'll wait for the c8 Z06
Love your sense of humor. Don't settle mate!
Nick.......this video convinced me.......I won't be buying a 911.
Holy shit man! I feel for you. I was contemplating going new or used 911. That’s why I’m watching your vids. Seriously thinking staying used now. Good luck.
This is why i like cars made between 58 and 79.
Hope you get a new car bud! That is ridiculous what they are doing to you and Lemon Laws would not allow it.
Cheers to you...! i would do the exact same thing, but have no time to deal with these issues...
I think you are SO lucky to be able to drive (have driven (hopefully one day again drive)) that car, i think it is too cool. Unlucky with all the issues, that must blow.
Porsche should give you a whole new 911, this is unacceptable.
Law suit against them. Full money refund.
Well lets just put it this way..I'll never look at Porsche the same. I'm glad you got this sorted out sir!
Had the same crazy horn replacement thing on a Cayenne! Plus water draining was bad and there were an accumulation in the doors!! Plus there's a noise coming from the speakers and it's not resolved after 3/4 times at the Porsche garage!!!
I think Porsche isn't aware of the power of social media these days... they're in for a little surprise.
Long story short, after a few days, we discovered his GC SRT8 parked out front with a sign that said: "NOT FOR SALE, if there are any questions, please dial: 1-800-***-****"
The man lemon lawed the truck.
Do you know this guy or something? lol
Wow my perception of porsche just down the toilet.
holy shit what a nightmare! I'm surprised you didn't have a nervous breakdown--I might have!
First of your videos I’ve watched. It’s like a car wreck ...I can’t look away and need to know what happens in the end. Good video and I’m hoping to find out, when I look at your other videos, that you got your money back.
Wow thank you for this video, I was going to buy a porsche in the near future, now I will be looking at other options. Thanks
Wow never expected this coming from Porsche, defiantly puts a tarnish on the brand for me.
I bet the problem is that there is a leak, and water passes through the electricity, creating shortcuits, ruining the electronics.
It's absolutely unbelievable what happens to you / your car. I got a new 991 C4S two months ago and my car is nearly perfect. I really enjoy that funny toy every day again and its worth every cent. The car is my "best friend". Hope you took a Porsche again and now happy with it. Anyhow!
Materialism.
It's good, until it isn't.
I agree, we should all live in forests and wipe our asses with leaves.
Why are you watching video clips about Porsches?
He bought a product which he worked hard for to save and it's a shit product. He's not asking for anything more than ANY consumer would ask for if they bought a defective product. When I go out to eat, I want my food cooked the way I ask. When I buy a car, it better fucking work.
Thad A. Both extremes with no sight of a middle ground, how quaint.
tradukilor2 on a computer with internet none the less
Good luck mate, hopefully they will do the right thing!
I give this guy's sense of humor while handling the problem that was dealt to him by the dealer.
To Mr Murray,
I hope your problem gets resolved and I hope I get to shake your hand someday after your problem gets resolved :)
I just watched your videos on the 911 and I hope Porsche read this... I am in the market for a sports car and was considering buying a 911. Now I will be watching this space closely. Good luck Nick.
I was in love with porsche...they just lost me on this one. good luck OP
Terrible, hope you get your money back.
sounds like water got into the vehicle and fucked the wiring.
Very instilling video, I'm glad to see Porsche manned up to the job of making a customer happy
Sharing on G+.
Just because someone buys an expensive car doesn't make them rich. I have been there. Its a gut wrenching experience, you feel betrayed and helpless that the money you made by sweat and blood becomes useless.
#Porsche 911
buy yourself a GT-R, rocket performance and a rock-solid car
boring af as a dd
Much like you I am in the same boat for saving my money to get a elite sports car. Thank you for showing this video, Porsche will definitely be off the list. In college I had an old Acura Integra, not a problem of any sorts compared to what you had. Definitely sad things that companies make horrible products with no accountability. Glad you made this video.
Great videos Nick. Glad to hear you got some satisfaction. I am wondering what your replacement car will be?? :) I'm sure we will see it in a video down the road.....
