    Tricia's acting when Charlotte describes her Hell loop is absolutely superb! Throughout season 2 and in much of season 3 she plays a supremely self-confident bad ass, but her vulnerability here is completely heart-breaking.

    Interesting thing about the story of Cain and Abel, many people interpret the punishment not as a lesson to not to commit murder, but more like "don't mess with god's favorite", since god used to liked Abel's offerings, no matter how hard Cain tried to make a perfect offering.

    5:30 Remember lesson from previous episodes. Hell is about Guilt. Cane has no Guilt over what he has done. He Believes he was Justified in Able's Murder.

    Lucifer is based on a comic book, so hell is based on guilt, not bad sins

    You seem to have missed or forgotten the fact that Cain was the FIRST murderer and thus Abel was the first murdered. This is why Abel was the first person in hell as he was actually one of the first “people” as a child of Adam and Eve according to the Bible.

      I think she was questioning why he was in Hell at all. We tend to consider Abel an innocent victim of Cain's action so it seems odd he wouldn't have gone to Heaven when he died.

      @@kingbrutusxxvi its been established that people send them selves to hell because of some guilt that they feel they subconsiously deserve to go to hell

    I kinda wished that Abel lived throughout the season mostly because I love Lauren Lapkis and she was funny as hell in this episode.

    Your question at the end about defense attorneys reminded me of a recent legal case that crossed the line and ended up being dismissed. They tried to put Alec Baldwin on trial for the murder of the cinematographer on the movie Rust because the weapon somehow had a live round and ended up going off. However, during discovery it was uncovered by the defense that the prosecution had knowingly had important evidence mislabeled so that it wouldn’t be discovered. Once one of the prosecutors discovered this she asked to be removed from the case before it was eventually settled because she felt that she had a moral and legal responsibility to do so. In this example, Charlotte was more like those other prosecutors who felt that bending the rules to suit their agenda was fine as opposed to simply doing the job assigned to the letter of the law.

    Given Anna's Old Fashioned, I'm a little surprised that she was "Abel" to get through this episode, let's watch the next reaction and see if she "Cain" to it again.

    Remember the "west" justice system is based on everyone is entitled to a fair trial and it is up to the prosecutor to "prove beyond all reasonable doubt" that a accussed is guilty. A defence lawyer is an important part of this process. Either they try to prove procedure wasn't followed, so their client wasn't getting a fair trial or show holes in the prosecution's evidence. If a guilty person goes free, then is it the defence lawyer or the prosecution responsible for that?

    • @DavidB-2268
      @DavidB-2268 Месяц назад

      Might depend on how the defense attorney got the win. We know that Charlotte was absolutely amoral, and willing to break the law - or advise others to do so - in order to win.

    • @ChibiHoshiDragon
      @ChibiHoshiDragon Месяц назад

      Charlotte's problem is twofold.
      1 is the means in which a lawyer showed the holes, she likely played dirty. Like maybe witness tampering or gave information that lead to the witness to be unalived.
      2 is the why, she did it. If you do it because you believe everyone should have a fair trial as it protects the innocent, that is a good thing; but Charlotte did it for money, that is a selfish reason.

    Yeah, pretty sure Able was trying to shoot Amenadeal, but he's never used a gun before, so of course he'd be a bad shot, especially for such a quick draw maneuver like that. Total, "failing upwards" moment.

    Remember, Charlotte was DEAD when Mom slipped in. She wasn't overridden by Mom, though there are a couple of misplaced inferences that she was in there too. There's nothing for her to remember of the time she was dead (except Hell). Actually, the big discontinuity is that Charlotte is alive again at all. Mom taking her body had nothing to do with her dying, so no compensation was due. I get it that Trish Helfer was so good they decided to add her to the season cast. But in terms of the story. NO.

    • @lukasr5867
      @lukasr5867 Месяц назад +1

      Sorry, but why NO? Charlotte would have been only just dead when Mom took over. More than likely she could've been saved if she were in intensive care right then (replace lost blood, fix the leak, get the heart beating again and all good as long as the brain wasn't too long without oxygen. Mom taking over the body basically did that, leaving a totally alive body behind, when she left at the end of Season 2. Why shouldn't it be possibly for that empty body to pull it's soul back out of hell? We haven't learnt anything in the show that would contradict this. And even if that wasn't the reason, just like in Fantasy you can justify a lot by "it's magic", here you have God, and we all know how his ways are said to be ... So why not some mysterious resurrection of the woman recently impersonated by His (ex-)wife?

    A few things. Lucifer not telling a lie isn't a thing he is forced to do. It is just him. When you are an archangel i doubt lying ever gets brought up. While on Earth, it's the same thing. When you are that powerful there is little need to lie. What he says will happen he makes happen.
    Charlotte being in hell for a few months isn't exactly accurate. In Earth time, that much time has passed, but in hell time goes by differently. A few months could be thousands of years. And since each loop is what? about 20-30 minutes. That means in that short period her hell loop happened around 96,000 times.
    In this lore, you go to hell because you feel some kind of guilt for how you lived. Each hell is of the person's making. Cain said that he just happened to be the one who survived their fight. In the bible, it always impresses that Abel was a good son who did everything right. Cain was the black sheep of the family. Here it shows that Abel was a douche as well.

      @SouMorse Месяц назад +1

      About the time difference between hell and earth, I'll repeat my comment here.
      Charlotte wasn't in hell for just a few months. Amenadiel said those 30 seconds Malcolm Graham spent dead were 30 years in Hell. Charlotte Richards died in September 23th of 2016 and came back to life in May 30th of 2017, so 8 months passed while she was dead. Each second on Earth equals 1 year in Hell, Charlotte spend 8 earthly months dead, each day has 86.400 seconds, each month has 30 days.
      86.400 x 30 x 8 months = 20.736.000 seconds.
      Charlotte spent approximately 20 million and 736 thousand years in Hell.

    • @lukasr5867
      @lukasr5867 Месяц назад

      @@SouMorse That's some very exact maths for some very unexact data. Amenadiel's statement wasn't one of fact, he said something along the lines of "I bet those 30 seconds FELT LIKE 30 years". That's a typical hyperbolical expression. Sure, it probably felt like a lot of time, but it could just as well have been just one year. Or 30 minutes. Or any other amount of time.
