I couldn't say any of this before because I didn't want to spoil anything for you or anyone else, but regarding Cain's character... I agree. As much as I loved Tom Welling as Clark Kent in Smallville he was NOT the right casting for this part. He makes a good every-man character, and can pull off hero to an extent; but he lacks gravitas to pull off a villian. Even the few times we saw him trying to glare or threaten someone, it just wasn't there. He could sound angry, but he never looked furious or really dangerous! They needed someone like James Spader (Black List), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), or Andrew Scott (Sherlock). - Yeah all probably out of the reach price wise, but one can wish! Looking forward to the next reaction!
James Spader as Cain was not a reality I realized I needed so badly lol. His ability to portray both charisma and stoic would have been such a good dynamic between him and Lucifer. Im not sure what you could do with the criminal mastermind without nearly copying the blacklist at that point but i must admit I want that REALLY badly now 😂
Yeah, that is where they tried to end it. It's gonna be hard watching the other two episodes before finding out what happens next in season 4. There is a lot more action going forward, a lot more of the divine, and I think the series gets better when Netflix picked it up. It's gonna be good.
I will say, this show benefitted from going over to Netflix, the lower number of episodes for each season made it a bit more fast paste, and there were not really any "filler" episodes, most of it was connected to the story arc for the season.
Glad to see you get here . Now , the two episodes I kind of Love , one of them relates to another 80s Graphic Tale and touches my heart . Can't wait to see more of your reactions and great breakdowns of what's to come .
Yea they were meant for season 4, as filler episodes (but are two of the BEST filler episodes of the entire series IMO) but when Fox canceled the show they agreed to go ahead and air them to entice other networks since they were finished, and it worked.
This was quite the finale. The avenging angel- fantastic. No one takes Cain to Hell. Souls take themselves sent down by their own guilt if you remember what Luci told Reece back in episode 7. I always assume that when Trixie isn't around that she is with her grandparents. Tom Welling was told to play it calm and wasn't even told where the his story was going from the start. so he didn't know himself as we didn't know. It was supposed to keep us guessing- is he good, is he bad... who is he? LOL The two bonus episodes 25and 26 are fun. I believe they were filmed to fit into a season 4 if FOX TV carried on but yes, they CANCELLED it- AFTER THIS FINALE! What were they thinking? Anyway, FOX TV released them as 'bonus episodes'. The writers said they can be seen as canon though , NETFLIX seasons have a different vibe. I think seasons 4,5 and 6 are great. I hope you like them. The writers were given a freer hand to take the story more into the mythology and write what they wanted to tell the Lucifer's story exploring more and bringing it to the conclusion that they wanted, rather than write extra episodes just for FOX TV to use for filling the schedule. (Although I enjoyed them all!) Now Chloe knows! It is all true and her world must be turned upside down... who knows what will happen next... I don't know what i would do with that information.... heaven, Hell, Devil, Angels. Loving your reactions for the first three seasons- onward to the rest! I think the best is yet to come.
I think in part the ending is what had so many demanding the series to get picked up by another network. I think Trixie was doing another TV series. I love Boo Normal.
As others may have said, this is actually the season finale. Fox canceled the series, but were open to other networks picking it up, so they agreed to air the two extra episodes to entice other networks, to show that were already working on season 4.
I was a fan from the start and could not believe that's were it was going to end, we got the two extra episodes and they were brilliant, but me and thousand of fans went mental, i actually wrote a letter, yes pen paper and stamp to the network, everyone did their part and we got two more seasons.
This episode is where i last left off because i was watching this series on direct tv so now 😂 ill be probably watching from this point on for the first time as u are lol
I'm watching hers too. I'm sure sofie is ahead on patreon and I'm glad she drops 2 episodes each time but it seems like she's taking a bit to upload them. I know she's watching many other shows too
Yes, this episode is THE season finale... the next two episodes are bonus "non" storyline episodes. (back in the "Save Lucifer" days of Fox's cancellation)
Pierce was shot in the arm. Lucifer doesn't need a vest when Chloe's not around. Anna: "Who takes Pierce to Hell?" You'll meet them in the next episode.
The reason you didn't get more Supernatural action is because fox said they wanted it to be more of a police procedural and have the supernatural stuff be second Netflix said donwhat you want just don't go to insane
Another amazing reaction! I recommend going directly to season 4 after this episode as the last two were unreleased episodes that were released after the cancellation when Fox was competing with perhaps the Super Bowl, I don’t remember but the show was already officially cancelled. So it wasn’t that they were going to cancel it the show was cancelled. Netflix came in much later and wanted the show. I think some you enjoy structure, found from the finale to season 4 would be a better viewing experience.
You’re going to get my same experience seeing the two filler episodes after the finale but you’ll KNOW that they’re fillers going in. They are both entertaining episodes and one of them is kind of important for character development.
So glad the3 Chloe actually saw and believes, finally. And the last two episodes, don't belong in S3, but IMO they Belong in the SERIES. Hopefully you will see that at some point. Great Post, Anna. And thank you for sharing with us.
"No shit woman" FINALLY someone said it how it is 😂this is one of the best episodes in the series but Chloe's reaction is a little... cliche. "Its all true!" like thats as cliche of an "omg" line as it gets, but also undermines just how obvious its been this entire time with its cliche-ness. Yes, Fox was actually going to leave it there when they knew pretty much the entire season that it would be canceled here. Typical lack of careness and/or awareness from a corpo. I highly recommend you look into Tom Ellis' reaction along with the fans' unyielding support to see this show brought back. He's talked about it several times in interviews but bear in mind some take place after future seasons so he may bring up future spoilers. Still, he was truly moved by the Lucifans and their efforts to see it kept alive. We owe the next 3 seasons just as much to the fanbase as we do Netflix
Other than episodes 23 & 24, my favorite episodes this season were the ones that didn’t involve Cain and the Sinnerman storyline. But Cain at least brought Lucifer & Chloe to the point of truth…finally. Enjoy the next 2 bonus episodes for what they are but can’t wait for season 4 😁
With Cain/Pierce they just tried to put to many things in one character: Cain, a rather tragic figure and millennia-old celestial who just wants to die, the Sinnerman, an evil mysterious crime boss and antagonist, and Pierce as a new love interest for Chloe to make Lucifer realize that he wants her. Especially the last part was just painful, but overall his character just felt very convoluted. They probably should have split him into two characters.
Angels are by default invulnerable to mortals and earthly weapons but not celestial or infernal force or weapons - both Amenadiel and Maze were able to cause Lucifer damage and get from him in return hand-to-hand; and Malcolm Graham almost lethally wounded Amen with the same blade at the end of 1st season. Though these don't destroy soul like Azrael's blade, they would just go to Hell or Heaven.
Looking forward to seeing what you make of the last episode in this season (Ep26). Not really a fan of episode 25, but ep26 works fine as a standalone, and I thought it meant they were going to lean in to some aspects of the comic lore as well. Now, they didnt go that direction, but I had hope for a while 😀
I agree with you about all the problems with this season. I think season 3 is the weakest of all the seasons. It had a couple fun movements, but overall, I really dislike this season. The Pierce/Sinnerman/Cain storyline was all over the place. At first he was the mysterious big bad, but they never did much with it, so he didn't feel sinister enough. Then he went to frenemy territory so the overall arc didn't seem interesting. And they changed his stance and relationships constantly. Its like a dozen writers each had their own ideas, and they said yes to all of them and then tried to make it fit together. I thought it was dull and exhausting.
Yup, the Cain storyline was a serious mess. Honestly, I originally gave up on the show about halfway through this season, and it wasn't till I heard that Netflix had picked it up and dropped season 4 that I went back and finished it. I think I made the right decision to give up, _and_ the right decision to go back! Netflix did a great job of salvaging the mess Fox left them, and turning it back into a show I wanted to watch!
Yeah... finally.. you can finally stop going Pah-POW (wings exploding out). Now Chloe knows and just like you said, she will take it like a true champ and not completely lose it like everyone else did/does... Ha!... Or will she....? :-)
Having this as "the end" was a decent way to leave the show. Open for more if possible... but a good sound ending if not. Doesn't mean I wasn't REALLY pissed off until the netflix announcement
So do devil faces. The loss of most of the cgi effects (celestial accoutrements) in s3 were because of budgetary constraints, forcing the writers to work around these constraints while also knowing that Fox saw the show as a procedural cop show and that they were potentially on the chopping block. However, they were not officially cancelled until after ep24 aired.
Can you believe any programming exec would elect to cancel a series on that unresolved cliff hanger? Fox are idiots and have done similar things in the past, such as sabotaging Firefly. Another you should watch if you haven't.... Both Firefly and a show which Tricia Helfer is a star and excels at multi role acting - Battlestar Galactica.... are two shows you should react to at some point - excellent story, acting, thrills, intrigues and some comedy too. Oh and Netflix at the helm makes better budgets, more time to develop story, higher production values and seasons 4 and then 5 continue to build to amazing new heights of excitement and fan addiction.
