- Everybody knows that Travis Tritt is a country music icon. He has a long list of hits that were the soundtrack to a good portion of the 90s. If you turned on the radio during that decade, you heard TT's voice. That was just the way of things. Recently he dropped a new album. Set in Stone is like a time capsule from about thirty years ago. However, did you know that he played a big role in getting The Eagles back together for their Hell Freezes Over tour?
Travis Tritt was on the most recent episode of 'The Road You Leave Behind' with Marty Smith. During their chat, he told Marty all about how the Eagles reunion happened. Развлечения
Travis really knocked that song out of the park that was a perfect song for him to sing.
I cannot even begin to imagine the energy that was going on that video shoot with all the Eagles in him.
I don’t think people today can fully comprehend what this music video did to all the Eagles fans back in ‘93. It was unbelievable. I was 20 and when I saw this, it was phenomenal. Then the Hell Freezes Over album came out in ‘94. The Eagles were on top again. Amazing time period for music reunions.
Travis is the main reason the Eagles up got back soon, thank you Travis cause I got see them all👍🎵❤️🦋
There is a piece on that in the History of the Eagles documentary which is a MUST watch. Thanks to Travis for the idea of making it a fun way to have them in the video and getting the greatest band of all time back on the stage
I was thinking about they can make a movie or mini-series out of Travis Tritt's story on how the Eagles band back together for the Common Thread project.
Take It Easy with Travis!!! Listen to that a few times a week!!!!
I finally got "Common Thread" through Amazon and I absolutely love every track!!
Travis Tritt is unbeatable!! My kids grew up on his music -
Well, Travis, you might not take credit for their reunion, but We WHO LOVE MUSIC, give YOU THE CREDIT. Please accept it. And Thank You for doing the job of getting them to at least play together the first time in all those years. You're one amazing man, person, and artist!
Nice Work Travis, or should I say Mt. Tritt \m/ \m/
I met Don Felder. He's by far one of the nicest musicians and celebrities you could ever meet.
Same here, I met him in 2011 here in my hometown at a meet and greet after his concert and he was very humble and gracious. He took pictures and signed my copy of Heaven and Hell My Life In The Eagles. Hell of a nice guy!
I met him too, very nice guy
Thanks Travis!!
I read an interview where Travis told those guys that the Eagles music was bigger than they were and they didnt have the right to deny their millions of fans hearing the music that was still in them.
Death has stopped great music from coming out but egos should never be the reason for stopping the music.
Wow!
If nothing else Travis definitely has a pair.
It’s a great day to be alive.
I KNEW IT! Travis saying he doesn’t take credit! Shows you what a Class Act Travis is!
Travis’s version of Take it Easy is a goddam banger
You got to be an Eagle for a day. You got to be a hero for life to the Eagles fans. I loved this album but I liked your song the best. Even before I knew you made the video with the Eagles.
This guy has one of the best 👌 voices in country music, barr none.
Passable as a guitarist too LOL!
He’s unbelievable in concert!
I had never heard this story, and I've heard it all, lol. What a class act you are Travis.
Clint did Desperado really well.
The eagles don't give enough credit to Travis for helping them reunite in the 90s. They briefly mention it in the documentary but they never talk much about how that lead to a reunion about 6 months after the video of take it easy which has the eagles
Often the more I see of a star the less I like them. Travis is a huge exception. He comes across as very genuine as a person, and he's hugely talented as well.
Common Thread has got to be one of my fav all time albums. And to think Travis had any part of putting Frey and Henley in the same space that lead to Hell Freezes Over...he is my newest hero. He might not think he did....but he did....and thats the coolest thing Ive heard in a while!
I can’t find it on I tunes …. Is it still available?
Righteous stuff, TT.
Well done
Travis Tritt is still making increadable music, but Country Radio has turned into a shitshow and won't play anything but tractor rap. Keep on keeping on, Travis!
"tractor rap" - I love it!
Tractor Rap..Im a trucker and that totally fits..thank you
I call it hick-hop.
We all call it CRap. Country Rap. Radio did the same thing to Rock, Blues, and Metal. However, just like the latter 3, TRUE Country has an underground core audience just waiting for Round 2!
@@chazzkramer7676 Hell yeah!!!
Just one more magical chapter to the Eagles. Travis' version of Take it Easy is off the charts with his style!
I met Travis Tritt a few years before he became famous. Great guy then and he still is.
Omg i love travis tritt❤
All I have to say is Travis Tritt you at least planted the seed which Blossomed into Hell Freezing Over! God Bless you for that! 🎸🤘🙏🏻
So what did I do after watching this interview? Yep, I watched the video.
Travis Tritt will always be one of my favorite country artist. Nostalgic artist
Travis IS THE MAN !!!!!!!
I knew this story but had not heard Travis tell it. Big fan Travis and The Eagles are my #1 band all time. Thanks for the assist my man. Keep on and I think I'll go play Anymore.....you kill that one
RIP Glenn Frey, you're terribly missed!!!! I grew up listening to the Eagles in a time when REAL musicians made REAL music!
Amazing story, that only Travis could have constructed/been part of.
That's so Awesome...Travis...
You are so humble...one of my favorites...THANK YOU SIR..
I saw the HELL FREEZES OVER TOUR at Giants Stadium in 1994 - fourth row on the aisle - hands down the best sounding live band i ever saw from the musicianship, the lead and harmony vocals - they played over 3 hours - i have seen some of the greatest live bands - but there is them and then there is the Eagles - they were like the Michael Jordan of musical performers - they were that much better then any band i had ever saw and i saw some great ones.
Yes he should,
Hell Freezes Over was my first concert. In Indy 95. My ex said that it may have ruined me because it was sooo good. She had seen dozens of concerts at Deer Creek. It didn't ruin me, but it is number 1 or 2. The other is the Zac Brown Band.
Loved his version and the video
🎸🪕🎻🥁🎷🎺🎵🎶🇺🇸Travis Tritt for PRESIDENT 🇺🇸
Eagles and Rock fans will forever be indebted to Travis Tritt, as will country music fans.
I saw Travis and Connie smith husband can not. Think of his name hee hee I’m Danville Virginia loved it soo much long time ago
Marty. Marty I got it
Humble as hell!
Great story! Travis has an incredible voice. Anyone ever hear his duet with Patty PaBelle on the album Country Rhythm and Blues? Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
Great story! Love Travis! I never knew a lot about him but knew a few of his hits back in the day which were great. However, years later I started watching some concert footage of him on RUclips and he is just amazing! Can't imagine him doing anything other than making music and entertaining people. Born to do it. Same with the Eagles. I was a kid back when they were coming out with their albums and every one would have about 4 or 5 songs played on the radio and the whole albums were great from start to finish!
Shows the class of the two leaders of the band honestly too. That they agreed to do the video and put aside differences for the other artists. Granted, they made millions from the album of course, but giving those artists credit for covering their songs was awesome.
As I understand it, the money off the Common Threads tribute album was intended -- "a portion of the proceeds" for the Walden Woods Project.
Yeah, but if you ask Don or Glenn (RIP) they would both say, "oh no....Travis didn't do anything. We had this planned out all along." Such is their collective ego.
The Eagles had been planning getting back together as early as 1990. Glenn's health issues prevented it. Travis was a factor but not necessarily the key factor.
I always loved travis version of "take it easy".
Never knew he brought the " EAGLES " Together
Common Thread was awesome. Best album of artists doing other people's songs.
I have that album!
I just got it through Amazon. Amazing from start to finish!
I am happy t hat it happened knowing what we know now that we would lose Glenn Frey I am glad they ended on a good note atleast the ones that reunited and I hop hey al can make peace some day life is short
Awsome travis good man good story
It was GLEN FREY who said the quote WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER .
Eagle for a day.... Great to hear how TT managed to beat the management of Hell....
Cool story. Travis keep doin.
Travis is the banjo playing kid from Deliverance.
That is awesome I never knew that , Travis is a great guy I met him in Nashville in 1996 at the ASCAP building in an elevator ! What a cool man!
“Baddest ass thing ever”
Wow... Shows how wrong I was. I thought they gave Travis first choice to "Take It Easy" . Wonder why no one else wanted it?
Mad respect to the label and the Eagles for letting the album Common Thread happen. Clint Black did a great cover of Desperado. Take it Easy is a great song.
He should take credit for when it happened and breaking the ice but they I'm 99% certain woukd have got back together
is he wearing red blush?
Y'all need to take it to the dad gum limit one more time
I can't help but notice, Marty, has the biggest freaking dip (or chaw) ever. Lol
God Bless Irving Azoff for even allowing Travis to do this.
He is too modest Glenn and Don both said if he had not asked it probably would not have happened I wonder who did Hotel California
The came out with Command Tread.
I thought that was Al from Tool Time on Home Improvement
I've got rice cooking in the microwave 🎶...ah ooooooh
Lol,give yourself a slap on the back
Dude looks like RVZ. Wondering if he’s ever done a Skynyrd song?
Yes…. ruclips.net/video/T5stVOU6Sus/видео.html
And then there is this. ruclips.net/video/W6Lk_Os12Fs/видео.html.
Gary Rossington wrote and recorded a couple of songs with Travis that were released on the Ten Feet Tall and Bulletproof album if I remember right.
eagle is the best like u
This guy was great with Tim the tool man Taylor.
I love the 60s-80s classic Country, but the early 90s we suddenly had Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, Garth, Clint, Confederate Railroad, Joe Diffie, etc. It was da** good again. Tracy Lawrence with Time Marches on? Forget about it- awesome times. I hope it wasn't the last gasp of the Country genre. There IS Jamie Johnson, Hank III, Sturgill, etc., but it is few and far between all the filler sadly. Country music is people that people in God, Mom & Dad, etc. The is NO PLACE for SJW BS in Country. Hey Nashville" Give the People in Middle America what they want. You are making things too difficult with not good results
Travis’s lawyer was a genius.
That's what we All had Travis,no Idea what really broke up.Its in da past!Manifest Bettah communication nah! For back then! And nah!Just saying!Jcsx
Now we know who to blame
He is looking more and more like Rikki Rocket from Poison as he ages. (Or has more plastic surgery.)
Yes! 😂
This was probably the bright spot of common thread. There was nothing that stood out on that album, it was just a bunch of covers, no originality.
Now we know who to blame.
milkin off the vine
The worst thing the Eagles ever did was name their band Eagles, because its not THE Eagles, its just Eagles. Bot come on, they had to know that Eagles without the The in front is corny as hell and everyone was just going to say The Eagles anyway. Haaaad to be difficult, huh Frey and Henley?
Oh no! Click on Eagles video, but got Marty Smith from espn2?! I clicked off of him 10 years ago! I cannot stand anyone who makes a fake accent!
It's not fake. He grew up in the neighboring county where I lived and the drawl is authentic. We all had it; some more than others.
@@darylmeredith1669 I live in the south also, there's nothing more annoying than wannabes that over exaggerate their southern drawl! Plus that guy is such a tool! Can't stand him!
When will this stop the Eagles are over with its only one founding member left. They were just some musicians from California who found out people would listen to Drivel if it sounded like progressive country.
So I have you to blame ?
Thanks Travis!!
