Imagine how the Murdoch papers would have reacted if Angela Merkel had resigned, her successor had failed and she came back.
However, our media is more critical with Liz Truss, DPA has published a comment on the Yahoo site. Her visions of a Singapore on Thames have crashed, but one should not forget Boris Johnson had a similar vision, check his speech at the last Conservative conference before Corona at the end of 2021. Result: Standing ovation.

Many of the people that support and defend Boris are convinced he got Brexit done. It was actually Brexit fatigue and the inability of the Theresa May government who failed to get a majority over 2 years to pass Brexit legislation that got Brexit done. I watched Neil Oliver after a stint on GB News where he likened the relationship between the Government & The Public to one of an emotionally abusive relationship. I saw a lot of sense in the way he explained his view at that point in time... Seeing some people actively encouraging Johnson to come back to the dispatch box as PM, has really solidified Neil's idea. The pattern of finding excuses for the abusive ex, the 'running back' with promises of a better future, memories of only the 'good times, and the painful circle that unfortunately follows in such a relationship, really is telling. We've been gaslit to high heavens and just like in an abusive relationship, some can't be told & can't really see what's going on.

But I think (and dearly hope) that isn't the case for the wider public. There'll be a huge outcry if he gets back in. Even some Tory MPs have said they'd leave the party rather than serve over him again.
