    This is SUCH a helpful video! Thank you so much. I’ve been going out of my mind trying to figure out the best and most cost effective way to digitalise my paintings. Is there any chance that you could make a video on how to duplicate the image (in photoshop) for different print sizes? Great video! I would love to hear about how you set up your painting and take your photograph. Propped up or laying flat, what lighting....and here in the north east.....in winter?

    • @ChelseaAynaArt
      @ChelseaAynaArt  6 лет назад +5

      That is a great question! I do not lay it flat because the sun would not hit the painting equally. I keep it on the board or block that I painted it on and usually have someone hold it up directly facing the sun. Depending on the time of day and season though, if it puts off too much of a warm lighting color on the painting I might take it to the shade and use flash. If you don't always have someone around to help you with it, you can use a chair or an easel to prop it up. I have always lived on the West coast so I am not familiar with the NE winter, but I would say either of the two ways mentioned above might work or if there are several days with the sun hiding behind clouds, I would still take the picture in natural daylight outside, and use flash. Or the better option would be to have a photography lighting set up indoors or invest in a good scanner. I hope this helps!

    I wonder if there is a possibility of generating a 3-d printing of the finished work. A chosen medium could then be applied to a chosen print surface. This allows for the choice of ink, acrylic and pastels/graphics to be applied to a chosen paper or canvas. A high quality printer can produce a fantastic photo-print especially when you have a full color range inkjet cartridge module(s). The Canon Epson printer I used had RGB as well as a CYM and dedicated Black cartridges. The only limitation on quality was in the type of paper used.

    Hi! Thank you for the video! Do you put the matte backer boards in the shipping envelope affixed to the photo or just as a support for shipping? Also, do you order a print when you get an order or are you keeping some on hand?

    • @ChelseaAynaArt
      @ChelseaAynaArt  4 года назад

      Angel Woolery for just the backing boards without the top mat, I just put them inside the clear bag as support so the print does not get damaged and the print is not fixed to it. For giclee prints that I fully mat with the top mat and backing board I fix the print to the board. And yes, since I do not have my own printer and I order my prints, I keep a bit of stock on hand of each print. This is why I definitely want to get my own printer in the near future because the more work I come out with I don’t have the room to keep that much stock. I would rather print on demand. Luckily iPrintfromhome is super fast to ship! But if you have an Etsy shop and ship within 1-3 business days you will want to have stock on hand. Hope this help! :)

    Hi Chelsea, thank you for this video! I am using GIMP, so I know it's different from photoshop, but I'm just wondering how you get the background of your watercolor images white enough to have a white border that is so seamless. I've been working on adjusting the color/brightness/saturation/etc. but the background is still a textured off-white because of the paper I use perhaps, so the white border isn't seamless. Appreciate any general tips!

    • @ChelseaAynaArt
      @ChelseaAynaArt  4 года назад

      Lindsay Thornhill you are welcome!! I always start by selecting the inverse from the main subject to only edit the white background. In Photoshop there is a replace color tool, so I sometimes use that if the brightness/contrast doesn’t work well enough. You could potentially use the paint brush tool with a low opacity white if you want to try and color in the background as best you can. Hope this helps!

      It's an inkjet print. Giclee is a word that was made up 30 years ago to disguise the fact that the prints were being made by a pre-press inkjet printer. The photographic print is also an inkjet print on glossy paper. You can make all these prints at home. Just make sure you select high resolution for your prints. If you are scanning your images, make certain you set your scans for at least 600 DPI. Most printer inks today have excellent lightfastness and will do a great job creating your prints. The most difficult part of creating your print will be getting it centered. So, make sure you print test copies until you get what you want and then do your final prints.

So definitely take it in natural daylight unless you have a photography lighting set up. And of course, make sure you are able to edit the images and set them to 300 dpi which you may need to do on a computer. I hope this helps!
