  • In this week's video I head of to the Scottish Border village of Kirk Yetholm in search of the Gypsy Palace. along the way I discover the Stob Stanes and have a run in with a rowdy gang of locals
A stunning 12 mile hike in the heart of some of the borders most outstanding hills.
If in doubt just get out 🩷 🥾

You have done a canny bit of research mind and 'gadgie' is a term I have heard a lot over the years but never knew where it actually came from. Weather was good, I wondered where the sun had been hiding the last 6 weeks and superb scenery but man it was blustery. Loved the moody clouds time lapse and good to see you kept dry as it did look threatening but fantastic news on the (now) 543 and the 'heart of your bottom' looked really chuffed about it too :o). It was the black cows/bullocks? that surrounded a group of about 8 of us on a walk 8 years ago being very aggressive and we went 'through' a 6' barbed wire fence to get away, which cost me a brand new £200 waterproof coat which I (foolishly) laid over the wire so we could all side over while we prised the wire apart, never trusted a cow since that day but I always get extra satisfaction eating my steak every Saturday night :o). That bull looked a right evil sod mind and even worse a frisky one....what beautiful, did you say, no way I would have walked passed him massive nads of not! Loved the colour at the end, now that was beautiful and I did make it that far, cheers Alan

I love the word gadgie. I've been up that way again today Alan and the bloody cows are still there. We managed to dodge them. Damn shame about your experience mind. And very costly. Yeah I'm super chuffed with my subs. I never imagined in a million years to get 100 never mind 500. Really appreciate you watching my incessant drivel. I do love to read up on where I'm hiking. It's all so interesting. You take care now thanks again 😊🙏

I can sympathise with the cow fear! I’ve been charged by some young bullocks on a footpath ( they didn’t like our tiny wee dog even though she was on a short lead). It was properly scary.

Your knowledge of The Cheviot Hills is second to none, Emz plus the added bonus of the history of the area makes great viewing. It's well worth the longer journey for us Northumbrians to approach these fine hills from the Scottish side despite the coos 😂 giving a whole new perspective on familiar hills. Congrats on the subs/ followers😀 Thanks for sharing. Take care. Mick.
