  • Parking at Cocklawfoot farm I set off for Windy Gyle via kelsocleugh rig.
    a beautiful day after all the winds and rain we've had it was a welcome break to be hiking without being blown into next week.
    I love this route as you get the best of the Cheviot.
    special thanks to @themountainmen and Derek for donating drypacks

    Thank you for mentioning the Lighthouse, it truly is a beacon of light in the darkness.
    Wow, those panoramics are amazing, and they look very fresh, I noticed the lack of debris from the crash site, I always put it down to not bring sure of if I was in the right place, I've only been a few times, awful to think people are taking souvenirs , leave nowt but footprint take nowt but memories.
    Thanks for sharing your adventures, mint hew!!

    Last year over 2 days I walked from Byreness to Kirk Yetholm. Camped at the first refuge at Lamb Hill. It’s a complete wilderness up there. One of those few place in UK where you get solitude. It’s rather satisfying.

    That's a big day out Emz you covered some miles there. Stunning views into Scotland from The Border Ridge. I think the wreckage is still up there though as I was at the Vickers Warwick crash site just before Christmas and there is still lots of debris including the two engines also further North from the main site some more has been uncovered, probably with all the rain. Great video with great commentary as always. Take care. Mick.

    • @emz_adventure
      @emz_adventure  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi mick. Yeah the vickers site is still there but from what I see the remnants on the other side are gone. Last time I was up in summer more had disappeared there was only a couple of bits left. I thought it could have been covered up due to the winter weather as the peat can often sink it in but the parts on the grassy verges aren't there. I'm hoping come summer it dries out and they're just hidden but I don't think so 🤔 😢. Thanks for watching as always 😊

    • @blamhof
      @blamhof 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@emz_adventure A few years ago there was a big piece halfway up Scotmans Knowe which someone must have carried from the main site and dumped, a shame other bits have been taken. I came across the Short Stirling site last year which is East not far from the summit purely by chance. There are only four small pieces of wreckage there, hopefully, no one finds and removes them.

    Hi Emz, fantastic again mate. Watched end to end whilst doing physio - you need that for your hip. The Cheviots on your 1 day hols were behaving for you although it was a fresh one. But how awesome to breathe all that in and energize mind body and soul. Hey, good training too for your charity hike. Well, you had the hills to yourself apart from that helpful couple. Always good to connect. Good going. The vistas were epic. Until next time, all the best. Mark
