  • A quick review of the new punch tool that I picked up on Amazon to replace my pneumatic one that failed. It works pretty well, but how the punches hold up in the longer term will tell the tale.

Thanks for watching! I still have and use it. No very often, but the cutter has held up and it still works well.

@@roundtailrestoration I ordered it, I’m just nervous about it’s effectiveness on 18g steel sheet, but it beats hours of drilling. Again, thank you

@@pattwig329I used it most on 20 ga, which it didn't have a problem with. 18 was harder, but it did work. Wear some padded gloves.

Thanks for the review! I was thinking about the Eastwood pneumatic (or manual) - is that the one that failed?

+David Plass It was the HF one that I had but they all seem to be the same no matter where you get them, just the price changes. That's why I went with the manual one, but you lose the stepper function.

can it be used for paper

I doubt it. The dues are not that sharp. Maybe for card stock. You could probably put the paper between two pieces of card stock to give it some strength. That might work.

Hi, is the tool can be used for 3 mm thick aluminum plate?

My guess is 3mm is too thick.

      How about 2mm?

In your toturial the thickness stainless steel 1mm or 2 mm?

@@dannychrist5985 The metal I punched was 18 and 20 gauge, which equates to about 1.2mm. You could probably do 2mm, but my guess is the tool will eventually dull (and your hand will hurt!). If you need to do a lot of 2mm, I'd look at either a stronger manual tool or a pneumatic one.
