  • Rediscovered this device and thought I'd just show it in use etc. Made in Taiwan (for a change!), and just realized it is available from Sears and Amazon for about $30 -- not overly expensive for a useful tool. Punches and dies cover 3/32" to 9/32" in 1/32" steps and it suits up to 14G mild steel. Thin sheet metal is always a pain to drill and having the means to punch out a clean hole is very handy - the limitation is 2" in from material's edge, but still useful. Main machining projects somewhat on hold due to shop heat and standing difficulties - hope to resume late summer if not before.

Interesting video. Yet another tool I'll have to purchase. Glad to see you back, not so glad to hear that your back is acting up again. Do take care. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jim - if temps drop and back improves I have one or two projects on back-burner. Just filling with oddments for now! :)

Hi Cris. Good to see you again. Sorry to hear about your back and I feel your pain. I have been encumbered with back troubles myself lately. Stir craziness gets me back out to the shop regardless :(
I hope you get better soon and you can get back to some projects. LOL - I sound greedy but I really do wish you well.
    Take care,
    Grouchy

Hey Eddie - commiserations re back trouble -- I too try to get into shop despite the problem but, usual thing is getting the next day kick-back as well as difficult at the time!

    Hi Chris...
Enjoyed and now I have another tool to purchase, I like your thought of modification and use of the arbor press....hmmm got me thinking!
Take care...nothing worse than back issues!

that you for sharing. do you have a similar tool that can punch bigger hole? i'm hoping to use the piece of metal that falls out as the washer itself and then punch another smaller hole for the screw.

It seems Aluminum / Aluminium is all the buzz these days, everyone is taking the P
on youtube out of us Brits, but hey 2 words - Periodic Table
Officially it's Aluminium lol only kidding :)
Good video and good tool, maybe a thing worth investing in for sil's (ooops rockers) on the car for homebrew spot welds :)

Well, I've not tried but am pretty sure it could manage that. Sometime when time allows I'll give it a try.

Sorry - I'm afraid I forget but - go to harborfreight.com and do a search for it and that should give you the price hopefully.
