I like trucks, but i also ride wheels too. I know, crazy, riding trucks and wheels at the same time. And get this, I use hardware and bolts! Ik I'm insane.
I work in a machine shop making surgical instruments and I absolutely hate working with titanium. After the shape Is cut out In a Cnc machine is cut out the part will literally jump out of the vice and titanium like warps sometimes. I would highly recommend not buying anything titanium from a non reputable brand or a brand known for bad quality because it takes much more attention to detail and effort to work with.
Allen key vs regular bolts it's all preference, colored bolts vs regular bolts it's all preference, long bolts vs shorts bolts it's all preference, and of course shop bolts vs pro model bolts it's all preference
Elijah Woolf well of course, and many of us in this world have similar preferences. If Decker wasn't telling us what he thought & about his personal experiences this wouldn't be a vlog lol
Dad gets the hookup on some new board grinders and seizes the opportunity to pit boneless trucks with heavy boys in the battle of the century then SLACKS on his Oreo game, wow great job Dad!
I've been skating independent hollows for the past 3 years or so now and I love them! I noticed a big difference after moving away from standards. I ride a pretty odd setup compared to most people. I actually skate an 8.25 with 159s so I'm always happy to keep it light as I can with such wide trucks!
Your "heavy" trucks are made of aluminum, which is actually lighter than titanium. So hollow Ti vs solid Al is about as close as you can get weight-wise. You should compare hollow magnesium with solid steel :) I ride destructo hollow magnesium trucks on an element helium deck, welcome hollow wheels and modus titanium bearings. the feel is pretty different.
most "titanium" trucks have aluminum baseplate and hanger... the titanium on them is the axle... where titanium is lighter than the steel normally used
I had a brand new skateboard that was stolen outta my car , and on my birthday man ! I am a newbie and only skated it at work (school maintenance) I loved cruising down the halls at 5a.m. on that thing lol
Standards are the heaviest ones. "Titanium lights" are supposed to be similar in weight as the hollow lights. Titanium is supposed to be light. But strong. I've been wanting to try them. Right now I have Indy hollows, but thunders are always lighter than Independents
It would have been a great idea to weigh the trucks and see what the actual weight diff is. Im sure the info is out there I the net somwhere but still.
My titanium Indy's made a convert out of me. I ride a 9.25 shaped deck with rails and 60mm slime balls wheels for bowl and mini ramp and have mostly skated Indy's in 30 years of skating. I got a pair of forged titanium's and it changed everything. I can do a little street skating on my big board with big wheels. Definitely swapping them into my street setup and switching to them for future purchases.
Hate to tell you but titanium is not heavy! It’s light as hell so your heavy trucks may not really be heavy? There are actually trucks that are almost half as heavy as others , it would be cool to compare those ( Tensor mag lights and some Indy boat anchors ?)
Haven't snapped any solids but the king pin on a couple hollowed out ones back in the day I did, but I feel the difference in the flip and the weight when cruising the park I feel just going through the light feels faster
Skateboarding is like a fun work out; the better and stronger you get, which doesn't make you add less weight to your "dumbells", it makes you catch kick-flips faster, ollie higher, grind longer etc....so I think saving a couple hundred grams on your new complete only makes you weaker in the long run. After you master a trick ad more weight to the board and be a man and earn some more "mus-skills"!
I don't like the base plates on thunders so I use indy base plates with a thunder hanger! Its totally better because when doing nose and tail slide you base plates is also grinding the ledge or whatever you are skating! But with thunder base plates you wheels are sliding against the obstacle which can leave you with flat spots and also slows down your slide! Try it and see what I'm talking about! I discovered this when I wore down my indy hanger to much and really wanted to give thunders a try ! But I realized that I don't like their base plates!
Do you notice that hollow trucks sound weird? I mean it makes sense..considering they're hollow but just curious if anyone else was thrown off by the noise and slight feel of light trucks. I just started riding my first set a few weeks ago, love to hear an opinion
Thank you so much my kids turning 21 and now I can't force his ass to the hospital tired of him rolling his ankle I'm positive weight of trucks matter. Thanks bro
riding tensor mag lights, trash the brand all u want but my other trucks are the basic indy trucks and them on my zero 8.125 board (zeros are heavy appartenly) make it a nightmare, doesnt even pop, but the mag lights pops like crazy
Thunder lights are too fucking light. I feel like the skater has no control over the board since it's so light. It'll just fly away when you're trying to get tech or something. I need my Indy Standards or the Indy hollows to switch it up every so often.
Good video, man. Thank you. I skate Indy lights and love them. Can't wait for boards to get even lighter. I think it's the future. Also I AM RIDING THAT TOP LEFT RIPNDIP CAT BOARD 😊 Lovely board.
i have standard 147s and had just switched from my indys and it made everything so hard😂 i’m gonna give them another shot soon. i could barely do anything cause of the massive weight difference between the brands😂
the thing is that different boards have different tails and work differently withe different trucks, like a board might get no pop with thunders but another might get amazing pop,you cand compare the pop if you have 2 different boards, still a great video tho
@@daledecker indeed they do. It's tough to know how it affects individuals also. I'm not sure what the benefit to the light trucks were. Switched to royals because I broke 2 king pins on half cabs and the royals were free. I couldn't even tell you what the difference between them was aside from weight. Just got a free complete with theeve trucks. First day back skating after years I couldn't figure out what was up, pit my royals on day 2 and was landing shit, getting thw rotations I expected to get on hardflip and treflips. Didn't land them but shit wasn't working on on those other trucks. Had a similar scenario with tensors. Might have given them a week because I had to dig up the royals but shit. Idk. Just a heads up the notification bell change on me twice,I had it set to always let me know for a new video " " symbol was off the bell again. So just a heads up on this new system of notification sucks
The real difference is the height, this is the most important thing, the weight means a lot too. I rode thunder lights, tensor (they suck), now riding krux (they're fraking heavy and tall but turn is awesome...next I'd like to try forged independent or going back to forged thunder. What do you guys ride?
Suggestion for the comparison videos, 30 seconds at the start of saying "I'm gonna compare 2 things" 5 minute skate sesh on one, another 5 minutes on the other, 1 minute conclusion comparison. 6:30 of the first part is a bit much. Need more skating in these skate videos.
Thats why I started the "please watch" series because people only watch skate videos on youtube that have a gimmicky title and thumbnail. If you want to see raw skating I make videos every week where its just 10 minutes of skating. A lot of people miss out on that because they just watch videos with a good title and thumbnail.
Huh, I was wondering what they were but never clicked on them. I'll have to check them out, cheers for replying and I hope you don't take any offence to my criticisms, just saying what I personally would enjoy more.

It helps me commit and committing for me is the most assuring thing I can do to not only land the truck but be safe. It’s a gamble every time but you reduce your risk of injury I think
I found a skateboard years ago at s park near where I live and it was a skinny board that was spray painted over so I wasn't able to tell what kind it was but the trucks were thunder and I've always wondered if they were legit trucks and now I know it was most likely a legit board and now I'm sad because I don't have it anymore because a "friend" of mine took it to a pond and "lost" it over there😥 I miss that board so much 😭
Damn he sent you mad money worth of trucks! The standard and hollow lights aren't too bad. But the titaniums are bread. Also I skate Indy hollow 139's and love them.
Longboarder here like... what is a light truck? I ride Caliber 148s (8.5" deck) on my park board. Not really light (just shy of 400 grams), but the whole setup already feels like a feather compared to all of my longboards. xD

Every single vs video dale makes “Its pretty much personal preference”
you commented that on the wrong video because light and heavy trucks do make a difference not just preference
Riley it is preference, I hate light trucks, gimmi the heavy ones. The board carries so much better the heavier it is.
Yeah I've also come to the conclusion that dales comparison videos never have a conclusion. Still love him none the less

ahhh nice. yeah I corrected myself at the end of the video. I called standard polish once titanium by mistake.
Dale Decker ya but they are actually lighter than titanium
The polish ones were not aluminum
