Spent the past 8 hours trying to figure out how to get that resistor pack in without taking the entire heater core out. Your little trick to get the extra 1" worth of room is exactly what I needed. Beyond thankful for your video! You do damn good work!
It's always great to see someone such a Arod taking the time to protect someone's vehicle from damage as if it was their own, with the addition of the tape at the doors and fenders.
10/10 repair. Dude, I love watching you work, you just take so much pride in doing the best! Taping that door, zip tying the wheel, man, if only all techs did the right thing like you, the world would be a better place! When I get a truck, it'll be coming to you for jobs like this! Your dealer is LUCKY AS HELL to have a tech like you! Hope they're are taking care of yinz!
Gravy love pulling those dashes easy money but now I’m curious if maybe the case can be loosened just enough with the dash in the really shortcut it? I will try it next time I do an evaporator
Nice work Ford. Another issue with the wiring harness that passes from one side to the other around the lower engine/frame. Route that harness up high, either long the firewall, or near the upper radiator channel. I know that there is limited real estate to house the blower motor and heater core under the dash, but surly the engineers could have made some of the parts easier to replace.
No doubt, my has gone out. Thinking of relocating and rewire to make that resistor go where Ford should have put it. Up front where it can be changed if ever goes out again. Screw all that removing the whole dash.
I love my milwaukee m12 tools. I have some nerve damage in my neck from a couple herniated disks. The M12's save a lot of wear and tear where possible.
Hey man great videos just curious my 16 f550 has the ac blowing at all times could you point me in the right direction of what would make this happen I’ve now replaced the actuators and now able to move settings but still cold at all time and compressor runs
Wow. This is a very interesting vid. I generally don't do dash work, but God forbid if the need should ever arise that I need to remove it on my 2016 for whatever reason, this is the perfect reference. I know evaporators were pretty common to fail on earlier model years. Have you seen any fail on 2016 model years yet? Knock wood, my 2016 has been good to me so far. As of August 31st of this year, the last of my warranties will be expiring, namely my diesel engine component. Wondering if by then I should be thinking about a 2020 or 2021?
If you were to install an Espar engine heater on a 2016 powerstroke, would you tap into the heater hose return line near the quick disconnect behind the passenger splash guard area?
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Great channel! I have to replace the blower speed control on my 2015 F350 are there any other parts I should replace while the dash is out?
This is absolutely The reason things need to change with they way they are puting these vehicles together tell that wasnt engineered to take 5 hrs and ontop of that how common is the blower motor resistor failer for these vehicles ya i dont want it if i can get to the plug the new resister is not going back to that location
Wait, do you HAVE to pull the dash? Could you do this through the glove box and from the floor of the passenger side? I’ve never done this before, just wondering this from your video. Also, good choice of music. :-)
“Just take your little screw driver, just get up in that crack, and pop it out!” I feel ya. This is a kids show.....and you know this man! 🤦♂️ 😂 anyways, removing the entire dash has gotta suck! How long this job take? #LoanerVehiclesMatter #6.7PowerStrokesMatter
2015 f450 6.7 runs smooth until you turn on a/c then has a shake, turn off a/c lightly hit throttle shake goes away. Truck runs good either way and has no codes. What could it be.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod a/c runs good, could there be something wrong even though it runs good? I'm driving it to York PA from FL to help my father in law and I'd like to have this figured out.
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I did replace the top pulley and I bought the belt tensioner. So I guess I'll just replace the rest of them, after all it has 63,000 miles on it. Thank you for your help. You're awesome.
Man I love my Superduty, but of all the horrifying designs I have seen, this is at the top. Blower motor resistors are a relatively common failure no? Just couldn't have mounted the door actuators and resistance pack at the bottom???
Being in the trade for 50+ years i have often ask why manufactures do what they do when designing their products. In this instance i again have to ask why Ford would bury a part with common failures so deeply. It's not only Ford but all of them. I'm all for keeping technicians working but sometimes i have to wonder if there isn't another reason for their stupidity.
@Oddly Right All brands do stupid things, even Toyota. My problem is that why do they bury a part that's is known to have a high failure rate? As a tech i know that part needs to be in an area that has a high amount of air flow to keep it cool but there must be a more accessible place than that. Maybe i'm just a bitter old fart from working on that crap for too long.
JUNK when you have to pay a thousand dollars to remove the dash for a blower motor resistor. I would never buy this I'll keep my old 7.3 diesel. There is no excuse for this poor design.

Ford tells you that in the work shop manual

Hey great video 3yrs later
Best video for this particular job. Thank you. Saved me a lot of time and stress. Did not have to remove ac or heater lines. Superb.

Wow that was one hell of a job , nice work. As always ARod great video thanks. And thank u for ur help that sunday hope u got ur a/c going.
Billy Bob reference 😆. One of my favorite movies! I give AROD a 10
Hahahahaha
Wow that's a lot of work to do that .Don't ya love engineres who design this stuff. But you make it look easy.
Thanks Paul
Thank you, your guiding video helps us a lot.
Nicely done.

I did an evaporator on a 11 F250 recently, didn't take the dash all the way out. just peeled it back enough to remove the HVAC box
@@pjg3311 that's all I ever do i set the dash on the seats and get the box out super simple

That aux electric heater on top of the box. Is that part of the cold weather package that comes with the block heater?
No, thats call the supplemental heat option.
My 450 has it, it’s nice when it’s cold, instant heat.
I love my milwaukee m12 tools. I have some nerve damage in my neck from a couple herniated disks. The M12's save a lot of wear and tear where possible.
Indeed they doooo
Hopefully that would go bad under warranty. Great job
Yeah Arod when you said you might have to call in a "special crew" to hook up all the aftermarket parts back up, we know thats code for the new guy.
😅🤣😅😭😂
Great vid bro!!
Lunch??
Did he say 15-20 minutes to get the dash out? Damn he is good! I need 15-20 hours and then tow truck to his shop

Yes
Can you reload the blower motor resistor on a 2015 F350 thank you!

Can you relocate this with buying a new plug end and cut the wiring harness and cut a hole in the front of the air box Thank You !
