SAME, sadly I had long hair just last year but due to my dumbass not taking care of it I lost my inches 😔 now I gotta grow this shit right back from square one

Thank you for addressing that mixed people don't grow hair faster, they just retain more length. I can't stand people who throw out the "I'm mixed" card when asked about their hair (length/style).
DarkArkham2 Agreed. Have a little cuz with a mom who didn't know what to do. Damage, damage, damage!!! Finally got it together. She's living the dream.
DarkArkham2 amen you are so right!! My friend and I both have a lot of hair but mine is type 4 hair and his is type 3. He once told me if I and him cut our hair at a fresh start, his will grow way faster.😂😐 I told him that no it won't It would just look like that because your hair barely shrink while mine does a whole lot...
So happy to finally get this vid up! IF ONLY Y'ALL KNEW THE STRUGGLE. I edited this video like yaaah but my computer and editing software exported it like naaah. Most of my edits were lost, but hopefully the video was helpful. Excited to continue with vlogmas 🕺🏾
@@victoriaokoh6454 well its usually thought that mixed kids have "better hair" since most mixed kids on the media are portrayed with long thick hair which further leads to whites and black being obsessed with having mixed kids
You are amazing! I cut my dreads off in July, and i swear you give me hope that i can grow my hair back down my back without the locs! Keep being the bomb man!
You're so right about the water quality! I just bought a shower filter & soon going to get a distiller. I had issues from using tap water & I know better now. Distilled is the best because all the minerals are boiled out. I'm still trying to find products that work for me especially conditioners since I changed to silicone free.
Trimming as needed has been my number one. The way my hair grows, I dust my ends once every 6-8 weeks to get rid of most of the split ends and once or twice a year I do a major trim to maintain the shape of my hair.
Great advice....when I was younger water was a curse when it comes to hair. But I realized when I went natural that my hair loves, I mean it really loves water. I really have come to love my natural hair and I enjoy taking care of it (it's relaxing). I look forward to wash day. Happy Holidays y'all!
I’m confused so at 2014 my hair was longer than his at the time. Now it 2017 and his hair is 2x longer than my hair now. Why? 😂 lol my hair is growing just not resting length. I have 4c Hair, who else knows the struggle? Lol
I know your struggle. My hair is the nappy 4c type & my hair is a tight bush if I try to wear it out. My length is about 12 inches now but you can’t tell. When it is out and all I put in it is leave in conditioner, it shrinks up almost to my ears. I do a quick wash and quick blow dry with a comb attachment and it looks just fine for a week and I wear it in two cornrows that I did the second week. I use Blue Majic hair conditioner, the blue one, Kemi Oyl, Sulfur 8 original in the yellow jar, and sometimes I branch out to other products but the ones listed are tried and true to me. I also use to religiously use Wen co wash but it builds up in my hair and so now I just wash with a moisturizing shampoo and use the Web as a conditioner and leave in. I use Hair milk when I fiddle with my hair. And I use a large pick to comb my hair. Fancy is not required and my hair is beautiful.
I am all white.. and my hair grows fast some times of the yr, and Ssslllooowwww during others. It trips me out that some ppl think you're mixed and THAT'S why your hair is healthy. Thanks will TBH, I suffered from poofy ends for almost two years, and I used to trim twice a month, but what saved my hair is using a regular comb to lay down those poofy ends. Just sharing what helped my poofy ends, now I have a lot of hair lol 😂
I’m cutting off all my hair soon because I’m traveling this summer and I don’t want to be dealing with my hair at all. I’m excited for the process of re-re growing it from the scalp to being really really healthy and long.
I personally dont recommend taking biotin if your trying to grow your hair faster especially if your a teenager like me and just started puberty because it not only grows the hair on the scalp, it also causes you to grow more body and facial hair and as a girl i think thats a big problem so my advice would be sticking to scalp massages and moisturizing.
Something that helped me when I was trying to find hair products is my sister. We went natural at the same time so she would buy one line of products and I would buy another. We would just swap back and forth. I also suggest starting with the cheap stuff. Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it won't work. Cantu's products are like $6 at walmart and 4$ at some beauty supply stores...and they actually work really well on my hair almost the same as shea moisture products (15-18$ a bottle) Some Naturals even obtain moisture, definition, and length by just using oils and watered-down down conditioner ( ausie moist, dove) so start with the cheap stuff. Also if you go to the beauty supply store they have a section where you can get little packs of deep conditioning treatments for like a dollar... so you don't need to buy that $20 8 oz jar that these hair companies be trying to scam y'all with.
I've watched a bunch of videos when I first started going natural about 5 years ago and BOY DO I WISH I FOUND YOU!!! I had to learn all of this on my own, after spending MONEY on various brands that just did not work! After I learned to not expect my hair to just pop out of scalp and be as long as these other RUclipsrs. I'm glad I subscribed to your page because you have really good information and you let us know that even though your hair is long, it took time and all hair types are different. So basically THANK YOU FOR KEEPING IT REAL 😊😊
This is all so true. I love shea moisture but a lot of the products hardly do anything for me besides the Jamaican black castor oil leave in conditioner. Carol's daughter works okay but I'm not crazy about it. Surprisingly, The Viva Curl whipped coconut creme leave i conditioner by renpure has given my curls life. It really brought out the waviness and moisturized it so unbelievably and my hair didn't shrink like crazy. I was honestly shocked beyond belief.. My hair is ridiculously thick and it really moisturized it so nicely. That and a nice trim really changed the game for me. I see people who seem to have the same or similar hair texture like i have and it doesn't work for their hair. You truly do have to use whats good for you. What you put into your body really affects it too. I started brewing and drinking 3 cups of unsweetened natural green tea daily and that shit worked wonders for my skin and hair. I'm going to start incorporating more vitamins into my diet like you suggested as well. Thanks for this video!
You are so right about the stress causing hair loss, I myself experienced so much shedding, sore scalp like someone braided my hair so tight and it would fall out in clumps. 😢 I did the big chop two years ago and my hair is getting healthier due to focusing on trying not to be too stress and try to relax and eat healthy too, it’s getting back to it’s true self and so am I. Love your videos. I am a new subbie. 😊
What's interesting is that my stress reliever is styling my hair, hehe. Also, your point about products is a terrific one. It seems like so many people like Shea Moisture. That was the first product I used and my hate hated it. I used more until I found Cantu and Creme of Nature and my hair is happy, hehe! Great video, Will! =D
Hello, I really appreciated your video. Another tip I came by to combat hard water is a diluted lemon juice rinse. It can be mixed with distilled water or not, but the lemon will help clarify. I offer that because maybe some people keep lemon juice on hand for cooking and cocktails 🤣
Glad I found you. Been good to my hair....massage, moisture, and got rid of the stress. You rock. And yes, I wear my hair scarf. Will get a second one.
SO glad u mentioned product use. i've been natural for 3 years and i was trying ALL these products i saw on here and ig for like a year and some change. It wasn't until i started using random things on my hair that i saw progress. all I use now is ors leave in conditioner $3, argon oil curl pudding $7, and elasta qp mango leave in &8. I would spend at least $100 on products monthly and my hair was still dry and not growing but i learned my lesson. $20 and i feel like beyonce 😂
Andrea Jay Me too! We get bombarded with all these products, and RUclipsrs will have you thinking every product on the market is wonderful. Yeah right! Less is def better. No one has to spend a fortune to main healthy hair. It's all hype, and everybody feeds into it.

Omg you have inspired me to start my own channel already like what am I waiting for 🤦♀️ I struggle to find my hair texture on here this was a sign to just get it done alreadyyyyyyyyy
This video is 2 years old when I'm commenting, but also leaving your hair alone helps it grow. It seems if you protective style it and don't constantly pull it, it grows. I learned this from watching men. They get it braided, and leave it alone. There are a few female RUclipsrs who I see do this too and their waist length and longer. I truly believe that slicking hair back, laying edges, doing too many styles within 2 weeks to a month are damaging. And not drinking enough water since hair grows from the inside-outward.
Qùëëñ Łëãhhh do a braid out after you wet each section after you’re done with the entire head.... find a cute hairstyle. It takes time when your hair is not used to it but it’s worth the wait
yes water followed by moisture! my hair is low porosity, a mixture of 4a,b and c and fine. The LCO and baggie method ( for the first 2 or 3 days), plus plaits or twists for me is MAGICAL! No more crunch and my hair retains moisture, elasticity and length. It also combats the dreaded "fairy knot" situation.
Thank you for the Alikay Naturals code! I used the Yogurt moisturizer and the hair gloss oil. OMG! Love it. Styled with the Aunt Jackie's Flaxseed gel. My wash and go is popping.
I've been natural my whole life and I'm stunned. Mine is shoulder length and always has been. When I was smaller it looked longer but really my hair's been the same
Ik this is a 2017 video but it's true that men grow hair faster than women. It's fact. It's certain hormones that men have more of. Which is the same hormone that they have beards, mustache, chest hair so on and so forth.
I’d account the growth difference (growth and retention) btwn genders to hormones, and ironically, less maintenance. Rather, not as much manipulation, as women are known to “keep our hands in our hair”, messing and mussing, and doing the most. 🙃 Thanks for this video, new friend! I enjoyed it from beginning to end, got some encouragement, and subscribed. 💜
I’ve been natural for 8years, and my hair is only an inch passed my shoulders. I have crazy bad shedding and breakage at the end. Now about to be 21, I have the means to pay attention to my hair. I’m hoping these videos will help.
Hey sis, I have been natural my whole life but my hair is also an inch past my shoulders. Try Jamaican black castor oil (JBCO) and the Cantu shea butter leave-in, this mix is amazing! The oil stimulates hella hair growth and the leave-in strengths and moisturizes my hair.
The stress causing your hair to shed quicker is definitely true. I'm a vet tech and whenever animals that are nervous at the hospital, they shed like crazy.

Omg you have inspired me to start my own channel already like what am I waiting for 🤦♀️ I struggle to find my hair texture on here this was a sign to just get it done alreadyyyyyyyyy
You’re the only RUclipsr whose intros I don’t skip
I literally replay the intro over and over before watching the whole video
Your genetics play a HUGE factor into hair growth. My sister has longggg wavy hair. While I have ringlets.
Okay thank you for this rundown!, we are what we eat. Your pointers are so sensible!
The beginning tho...you gettin it!

Wen I wet my hair it shirks den I can't do nun with it😭😭💔
Qùëëñ Łëãhhh do a braid out after you wet each section after you’re done with the entire head.... find a cute hairstyle.
It also combats the dreaded "fairy knot" situation.
yas boys with long hair come thru!
I saw your intro and instantly subscribed cant wait to see what tips u got for me
Thank you for the Alikay Naturals code!
Long story short, hair grows no matter what, take care of ends and scalp.
Get you a man with long, healthy, strong hair❤❤❤
Awwwww Will 😊.... thank you!
new to your channel. Loved your tips. Glad you differentiated hair growth and length retention
PPS Styling process/method matters more than products! Ok I'm really done now. I feel some type of way about this topic as you can see Lol
I’d account the growth difference (growth and retention) btwn genders to hormones, and ironically, less maintenance.
Rather, not as much manipulation, as women are known to “keep our hands in our hair”, messing and mussing, and doing the most. 🙃
Thanks for this video, new friend! I enjoyed it from beginning to end, got some encouragement, and subscribed. 💜
He makes me happy every time I see him...
I love his personality
Okay I love the dance break!!
INTRO GOT ME HYPEEE
He said feel ya hair "baby I've been doing thisssss"
The stress causing your hair to shed quicker is definitely true. I'm a vet tech and whenever animals that are nervous at the hospital, they shed like crazy.
im just smiling as im watching you. love your advice ill be watching YOU!!!! good job!
